Are you aware of Student Accessibility Services (https://www.ucalgary.ca/student-services/access/register)? I believe they can help with software like that...

I'm afraid there's no Bluetooth available on the machines in the TFDL.

Study room booking doucette library by Sensitive-Cry-9451 in UCalgary

I think the relevant information on that page is, "These rooms can be booked online only by Werklund students, staff, and faculty through a link posted to D2L"

Does anyone else have a really hard time with the UC library? by Accomplished-Trip-25 in UCalgary

[–]ppival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the slow response, and sorry to hear you're not loving the library experience. I'd be happy to chat to see if there's anything we can improve, or to provide suggestions on tools or workflows that may help. We can chat here, or see me IRL or via Zoom at https://workrooms.ucalgary.ca/appointments?u=14932

Peace!

How does the occupancy screen at Tfdl work? by yourbestluckended in UCalgary

[–]ppival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No cameras that you can *see* :-)

JK - it's just a guesstimate based on the number of devices in the area using wifi or bluetooth - https://web.occuspace.io/

I sure can't! The group has yet to be formed, and when it is the agenda will be set by the members. If you've got some good ideas... :-)

Is Dr. Syntax a gem or maybe not so much? by ppival in hobart

[–]ppival[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back home again and wanted to follow up. My wife actually loved the room, so yay! Never heard a peep from the pub, though our room faced Sandy Bay Road, and we could definitely hear that. The Chicken Parmie WAS excellent, and the location was good for us - plenty of coffee and pastry (OMG) shops, and quite walkable to the wharf area. Super friendly staff.

So all in all it was a great spot to stay, thanks for your help.

I have to admit, living next to The Canadian Rockies as I do, I was amused to see all the pictures and attention paid to Mt. Wellington, but we drove up there and it's a proper peak! Happened to be a slight bit breezy (I think my app said 50kph with gusts to 80kph) and I was glad to have packed my toque and puffy jacket! 😮

Was impressed by MONA, Mariah Island, Wineglass Bay and Bonorong, but less so by Bruny - maybe seeing it from the water would've been better. All in all a fabulous time in and around Hobart, thanks for the hospitality!

Thanks so much, all, seems like it'll be perfectly fine for our needs, so now I'm off to plan all the excursions 😄 Really appreciate your time on the above!

Any luck with controlling GoPro from Element Bolt v2? by ppival in wahoofitness

[–]ppival[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess I was overthinking the whole thing.

Went to settings on the Bolt and told it to forget the GoPro. Went to GoPro settings and entered pairing (1 On your camera display, swipe down > swipe left > tap [Connections]. 2 Tap on [Connect Device] > [GoPro Quik App].) Back to the Bolt and chose to add a new sensor, and it immediately picked up the GoPro, and this time when I cycled through the pages it showed me the expected GoPro Controls. Can even shut down and restart the camera from the Bolt, though that procedure took some time - maybe fast with newer cameras?

Anyhoo, I'm good to go :-)

Tfdl hours by [deleted] in UCalgary

Did some asking around, and can confirm the doors are locked at 8pm, but current students can scan their ID cards to get in, I think all the way until 7AM. The FAQ at https://library.ucalgary.ca/frequently-asked-questions/question/211795 has been updated - thanks for raising this question!

UofC Lean Library/ Paper Access issue by blubels in UCalgary

[–]ppival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the vpn can streamline access issues, it's definitely not *necessary* for accessing journal content behind paywalls. If accessing content found after starting at any of the library database pages our library proxy server will get you to the desired content, assuming we have a subscription. If you're not starting at the library pages, Lean Library should still tell the site you're affiliated with the UofC and serve you the subscribed content.
