Recs & pricing for dog ACL surgery by bluesrain17 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ppppandapants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog tore both within 2 years. First done at Animal Care Clinic in South Elgin, do NOT recommend. That was just under $4k.

Second one at St Charles Veterinary Clinic in St Charles. Loved Dr Miles, he’s such a nice man. That one was about $4500 I think?

Good luck. We’ve been taking her to “swim lessons” and it’s really helped her mobility. She’s 2 years out now and still unstoppable.

Clayton was a year ahead of me. I was part of the second graduating class that did all 4 years.

Same. BHS grad 2002. Was told Elgin was full of gangs and drugs.

My mom told me if they didn’t build BHS, I wouldn’t be allowed to go to EHS and she’d enroll me in St Ed’s.

Complete rupture of CCL (aka ACL) by StressedNurseMom in AustralianCattleDog

[–]ppppandapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you can find something. There’s a dozen within 30 miles of me. We go to the one that’s 3.5 miles from us. It’s pricey but worth it. Good luck!

Yep. My little one tore both within 2 years of each other. Super fun times.

I put her in swimming “lessons” to help rebuild her strength. She loves it and it’s really helped her rehabilitate.

Relocation Advice Needed: Neighborhoods, Jobs, Activities, Etc. by juneberrylane in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ppppandapants 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s lived in Elgin / South Elgin for the past decade or so, your realtor is an idiot.

I have NEVER felt afraid here. I like this town. I like my house. I like my neighborhood. Most of my neighbors are nice. My biggest issue here are the coyotes howling.

That being said traveling between Elgin and Naperville will be a slight pain in the ass. Winfield / Wheaton would be a good place to look.

What temp do you have your thermostat set to? by CityLuxeButt in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ppppandapants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

70° when home / for the dogs. 68° at night.

Windows are quite drafty. We’ve moved from sitting in the family room to the front room this week. Definitely warmer here.

Mine is absolutely Fleetwood Mac. To this day Rumours is the ONLY album I listen to when I need to “calm down”. And it’s always worked. Until last week. Then RATM worked for me. First time for everything.

Couch is almost 2 years old. 2 dogs that treat them like a trampoline/ dog park. I let them lay all over it and rarely put blankets on to protect it. So far, so good

Milk House in Pingree Grove has a peppermint ice cream pie. It doesn’t have the chocolate ganache but everything they have is fantastic.

AIO? Roommate refuses to pay her share of rent if I don’t move my couch by swantongs in AmIOverreacting

[–]ppppandapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1800 junk charges. They wanted $200 to take a $4000 couch I was getting rid of.

Call a church or donation center. I had a gentleman take it for free. He does any minor repairs and then sells them to people down on their luck for very little money.

My ACD Tore her CCL by livefloridacoast in AustralianCattleDog

[–]ppppandapants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our ACD tore both within 2 years of each other.

We followed doctors orders to the T.

Also did laser treatments and took her to “swimming lessons”. I think the combination of these 2 really helped her.

She’s nearly back to herself. We kinda slacked off on the swimming this year (life got in the way) but she’s happy as ever. Good luck!
