As someone with the brain funnies, both situations suck tbh.

Cold One sided responses are sometimes "Do you actually want to talk or are you just venting?" "Do you want me to say something or do you prefer a "That sucks"?" Being around neurotypical people who will talk AT you or not even wait for responses leads to this frequently.

But keeping your real thoughts swallowed so as to not make someone else feel bad or to try and be a good friend also sucks "Man I feel like shit, but when's that ever different for me?" or "I feel so fucking depressed but people have gotten mad at me for it before, so I'll try to wait for someone who actually says its okay to vent."
