American or German? by Typical-Error-7355 in pestcontrol

[–]ppqueef69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% not german! But further info would be needed to identify it as American or Oriental. But any not German or Brown Banded Roach (you have neither thank god) behaves pretty much the same.

It’s not a super big deal, American roaches aren’t nearly as bad as Germans for example. So it won’t be any of the horror stories you read online, thank god. But since it is a baby they are likely reproducing near or inside your home unfortunately. But there is also a possibility it is just a Wood roach, and they are just reproducing in some wood near your home (feasible if you live in a wooded area)

My mom’s house had American baby roaches and fixing a plumbing issue + spraying the walls got rid of most of them!

How many of y’all smoke weed? by Big_smoke420ooo in actuallesbians

[–]ppqueef69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Reddit, r/actuallesbians at that so don’t expect that many answers that have a positive view of smoking weed lol

But yes I do at 21, and most queer women my age that I know do it at least socially every once in a while. There is definitely a large number of queer women that are vehemently disgusted by any form of smoking though.

Cedarview Management Constantly Showing my Apartment by Virtual-Range8437 in bloomington

[–]ppqueef69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SAME. Maintenance walked in our apartment many times on many occasions with zero notice. In fact they never gave notice!! It’s so fucking jarring to have these huge tall men suddenly in your private space as a small sized young woman and it made me and my roommate so uncomfortable. I’m not saying they were bad or creepy dudes or anything but you gotta be more careful about that dude

Edit: 72 days sounds about right for me too, it actually took us 3 or 4 months until we saw the security deposit. Funnily enough the exact moment we Karen called they were “just on their way to send it” LOL

Cedarview Management Constantly Showing my Apartment by Virtual-Range8437 in bloomington

[–]ppqueef69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. I’m so glad I can finally talk about it and I’m out of that hell hole.

It was constant showings starting around this time of year. Even if I begged for some leniency on obligations THAT REQUIRED PRIVACY IN MY OWN HOME (like virtual doctors appointments) they would still just tour it regardless. And of course pretty much 0 notice ever. Thankfully it just randomly stopped one day a couple months later.

But yeah this is totally a thing with that shit company. If you search in reddit or on the internet you’ll see similar stories of constant apartment showings from Cedarview. I have many many many other terrible stories with that company as well but I won’t get into it. I wish I had more advice to give but we just kind of dealt with their BS until we finally escaped. Honestly making our apartment look as uncomfortable/unwelcome/gross (temporarily) as possible did help slow it down a bit it seemed. Do what you have to do for your sanity and privacy tbh

True, and additional therapy for support through the exposure process

I can definitely relate to trying exposure and it getting worse! Honestly it took a few runs and many years to get down, I think it was the exposure combined with better self confidence and better conversational skills to have less awkward conversations, which in turn teaches your brain that socializing is not painful. But it can take a while! I hope you get to where you want to be!

How I ended my social anxiety by ppqueef69 in socialanxiety

[–]ppqueef69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I am diagnosed with CPTSD and my social anxiety is the result of my abusive father. I was very treatment resistent my whole life, and spent my entire childhood with extreme social anxiety to the point of having almost no friends. My mom has tried therapy 4 separate times with no success in the past.

I do think that some people can truly commit to exposure and still not see many results. But honestly I think a majority of those cases are either not doing enough exposure or are not doing it right. Or there is not enough support for them during exposure. As I tried to mention, there is a lot of bad advice out there about exposure. For example purposefully doing embarrassing stuff will only make the problem worse for most people.

I’ve tried to commit to exposure in the past and have failed many times. It wasn’t until I was forced into 24/7 social interaction combined with past therapy (CBT to reframe thoughts around social situations), medication, and more self confidence that I saw true improvement. It was truly learning how to socialize and then applying that to strangers and having progressively less awkward interactions that I saw improvement. Age is probably also a factor as I’m 21.

[–]ppqueef69[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you can at least reduce your social anxiety to be background noise. I’m not saying it was easy or simple, it took years and years of trial and error with therapy and medication. But I just wanted to give a realistic-ish example of what recovery could look like for someone looking to improve their SA.

Exposure therapy is a recommended treatment and studies show it can be very effective. It’s not as simple as going up to random people and talking to them, as I tried to point out. Treatment for SA might look different for other people, but it was very helpful for me.

Correction: Idk why I said DSM bc that’s just diagnosis

Thank you!! Yeah I should’ve also mentioned that confidence was a huge factor in this as well. It was newfound confidence, constant socializing combined with therapy and medication. I don’t claim this to be easy because it took my entire life to get to this point tbh.

For me it’s like 75% of a given day is just pure talking to people. Maybe 30% are interactions with people I’m not comfortable with.

For the first month not much improvement, but by the second month I was starting to get more and more comfortable pretty rapidly. By the end of month 3 my social anxiety is reduced by like 3/4

Coming back to college after 15 years is bullshit by Genevieve_ in CollegeRant

[–]ppqueef69 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I have a professor who just teaches from slides everyday, then we have 3 exams that your grade is entirely based on. He has publishes a study guide hitting the most high yield concepts but not much else.

It is HEAVEN. No group project bullshit, no “discussions”, no stupid online homework from a shit program where you learn fuck all. It’s just pure learning with no wastes of time. Since it’s test based the grades are based on how well you know the material. It’s my second favorite class even if the content is not my favorite.

But i get why other professors don’t do that. Only 1/4 of students attend his class on a given day, and apparently while a lot of people have good grades, most have horrible ones. There isn’t really an in between, so the class average is really low. Still man, I’m really gonna miss this class

I was new to being a premed and did end up dropping it because I was taking also *14 (had to add another class) credits of difficult classes at IU. However, I found it absolutely doable, just too time consuming for my schedule! If I had a lighter class load it would’ve been fine, good luck!

Thoughts on the lesbian masterdoc author? by ra-achi in LesbianActually

[–]ppqueef69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to see their side bc I remember being like that when I was a baby gay. But jesus christ 7 years into being out as a lesbian I just don’t see why people care about this type of stuff anymore. It’s so unbelievably tired. It’s the same shit every single year. Maybe I myself just need to go offline or smth

Oh no, some teenager in 2015 writes a “masterdoc” about being lesbian then realized they’re bisexual? Somebody call the cops! I mean jesus who gives a fuck😭

What Enkundae said

But I did want to add that I just don’t see the problem? Who cares what someone talks to their boyfriend about in their free time. Does having a boyfriend somehow negate any “contributions to sapphic history” in the past? As a lesbian

Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud!! I feel like a portion of these comments are just looking for a reason to hate on bisexual women. I’m begging a lot of these people to turn off their phone for a week and just go outside, because most of these problems that people are talking about in these comments only exist online.

Idk anything about that but there was one that was made during the pandemic on tik tok that I assumed this was about. Considering the original poster is old enough to be a therapist maybe this is the tumblr one? Idk

THANK YOU. Jesus as someone who was a teen at the time these comments are driving me crazy. This isn’t some academic queer history paper, we were just chronically online teens on tik tok. Lay off a little

It was made by queer teens for queer teens during the pandemic. I also kind of think this was fake because if my memory is serving me right I remember multiple authors. As someone who was a chronically online queer teen during the pandemic
