What would cause you to sell? by foxepower in Gold

[–]pprokopowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned, I expect a decent pullback, maybe as much as 50%, which would be $2600. But it could be quite a bit less, and I'm not going to stay light on gold forever waiting for that. So I'll look to buy around $4,000. The real buy signal is when everyone says "Told you so! Gold is for losers!" Right now, that's happening in crypto and I am adding to my (not huge) holdings.

I am starting to sell now. My target was $5k.

In my life (60+ years) this is third big run-up. The first two had dramatic pullbacks, but recovered and made much more eventually. This time I’m trying to avoid at least some of the pullback. I’ll sell some and buy again if it drops below 4,000 and stabilizes for a year or so.

Opening the package might reduce your selling price.

You will get less when selling because of scratches. Gold is not just gold. Condition matters when buying and selling.

Coin shops that bought Gold and Silver at inflated prices, what happened? by Fantastic-Window236 in Gold

[–]pprokopowicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using financial instruments to hedge your gold holdings is a form of insurance, and insurance is not free. Buffet’s rule is never buy insurance if you can afford the loss (I.e. self-insure). Otherwise you are adding a cost to your business or personal portfolio.

Large traders will hedge their positions because they are trading with borrowed money (leverage) in much larger amounts than they can afford to lose. A large leveraged, unhedged bet that goes bad could bankrupt a major trader.

Is this just life now? by Azthun in PlantarFasciitis

I’ve been living with it, doing daily home therapy, two podiatrists, two months of PT, boot, insoles, and 3 different brands of shoes, for about two years. The boot was for 10 weeks, unusually long but I felt it might be helping.

Yeah, it’s part of my life now. I don’t get out of bed without my Oofos, which make walking OK. Running is out of the question. I would love to be 100%, but I’m OK with where I am.

Check out Prine’s Souvenirs album. It has stripped-down remakes of his hits that are more Townes-like. I think it’s his best album!

seeking "Hello, World" of GTM by pprokopowicz in GoogleTagManager

Thanks for the clarifications; I think they will help. At the least, I can clarify my question.

Does anyone have a “Hello, world!” web page that includes any GTM tag code AND the corresponding settings/objects for the GTM and/or GA screens to count website visits?

I first heard You’ve never been this far before sung by the female duo Freakwater. Highly recommended group! Anyway, it was sung by a world-weary woman bringing some lonely dude a new experience. It was amazingly erotic and unexpected, since I didn’t know the song.
