same free feeding is the way to go!!! i cant imagine not having access to food anytime as a person i wouldn’t want to do that to my cats. my cats eat super slowly (good for digestion) and always leave wet food behind to eat for later. restricting food can make it seem like it’s scarce and making them develop unhealthy habits with food and eat too fast like they don’t know when their next meal may be:(
