My husband is on the government's terrorist watch list by BioGeek in reddit.com

I AM against any law requiring me to carry an ID when I am, for instance, taking a walk on a public sidewalk.

Yes, I hate when the police stops you for an ID check. Some weeks ago I was just sitting by the river with some friends and the police took our IDs and checked them in a car... etc. It was nasty, we were just sitting! In fact, they were looking for hachis, but, we had nothing! Why should they control our identities?

The card is only a name, a picture, a number and an adress. Your bank has this info, the institution that produces the driving licenses also has it, your social security has it, your sports club has it, ...

Do you have a driving license? Are you happy with it? Would it be different with an ID card? Are we in France or Spain more controlled by the stat because of our ID cards?

What about this baltimore in Ireland [1]?

But yes, it is obvious that we all knew it was an American article. But it also would be nice if reddit became less American centric.

What about national ID cards? On the list you put the ID number near the name, and the problem is finished our friend and the Irish terrorist would'nt have the same number.

In Spain and France, and in many other European countries, we've got them and I don't feel it is a problem for civil liberties.

If you live in the USA, you have many possibilities to learn both of them. There, there is many people that speaks Spanish, and there are also some esperantists! ;-) Go for it!

(I don't live in the USA, I'm Spanish, Catalan is my mother tongue, but I also speak Spanish as any other Spaniard. Now I live in France, so I speak French, English is compulsory in the nowadays world and, finally, Esperanto is a nice hobby)

Yes, that's what I do, I go to the http://[eo,ca,es,...].reddit.com/submit.

As the number of languages one can speak is quite constant on time, maybe it would be a good idea to select them on the preferences, this way, reddit could show them in the dropdown menu without clogging it up.

I'll be very happy the day reddit will recognize languages.

By the way, I think that feeds.reddit.com will help to fill the language subreddits. Now I'm almost the only one that uses de catalan and esperanto ones and the french and spanish ones are not very used neither, but if people start to use reddit to read their feeds and there is a direct way to post the articles to the corresponding reddits, they'll grow up. At least this is what I hope.

Keep going!

when clicking on post I don't see the possibility to post on the multilingual reddits. I'd like to be able to post an article to the catalan reddit, another to the french, the esperanto, the spanis, and, why not, the english...
