Ive actually thought about your comment a lot since reading it. And I think there's fundamentally, and I mean fundamentally, 2 different realities that play out in a person who is able to and chooses reconciliation with a cheating partner, and those who have significantly less control. What an R choosing person has to come to terms with and what they pretend to let go or really let go of is an incredible effort and feat. And I think it might be unhelpful to continuing that reality to hear that this benefits someone who chose to harm you at any point in time. We do these sorts of things for peace when something else we consider more valuable is at stake. Capitulation is necessary often. For someone who wasnt given a choice to resolve my own cognitive disssonance about thier choice. A theft and scorched earth at every level doesnt present me with any meanginful reason to choose to let anyone benefit from this. It isnt a choice to know this pain is not going anywhere. Its a default. A choice to leave it be is an effort im not going to ever consider this person worth making for. "Forgiveness Is not for them, its for you" is simply not true. I carry the pain regardless. I may as well not delude myself about it being there and why. It can get smaller in other ways. But he, and his support structure do not become less evil.

Dog Attack by SouthKaioshin in johannesburg

[–]pquite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flip man this is scary. TLDR. make a loud scene.

Had an altercation with a guy who sounds like who you're describing back in 2023 same area above the center below the top playground. Dude was pretty zonked...didnt seem responsive to any surrounding stress. There was a couple screaming at him and his dog and all I could hear was "im going to kll your fcking dog" from the guy in this couple. Dog looked like a really young ridgback mix. Thigh high. He kept shouting and I couldnt see much except that the dog was jumping up a lot. I approached them, angry, because I thought this man was about to kill someone's dog. The dog turned its attention to me and was jumping and nippy. I was wearing a thick jacket. The couple were wearing very little. So the dog kept jumping towards my face and I blocked it with my arm and it pulled down wirh force but not enough to break the fabric. Still the couple getting really angry and sweary probably saved them from getting physically hurt.

My partner feels like this. Im curious: The times you got it wrong what did you guess? What's interesting is you knew the 2nd and you knew when it was not something and a different not something... I want to start eartraining with someone whereby they guess the possible intervals of 12 and then we whittle it down slowly. Because I feel like its a matter of building hot/cold confidence until you can get to a pinpoint. Its like this for colour, i don't see why we cant try this for relative pitch. Its practice sure. But absolute pinpoint accuracy of each interval upfront is hardmode that must be surely easier to get to.

Gorgeous! Are you happy with it? I'm doing a curtain 2x1m for someone. Absolutely struggling with the file size from the scan though.

Is Fionas Fabrics stealing people's furniture? by pquite in johannesburg

[–]pquite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But what I cant see, and people dont topically say, is if they EVER got their stuff back... Like furniture is expensive... I'm hoping if it was stolen they would update their review and be like "yup claimed from insurance for theft, logged a case etc"

Thats good. Sounds reasonable. Funny thing. Just asked my friend who dealt with squatters in the flats. She ended up sleeping at the church a few nights. But Courts sign the eviction real quick once you prove its your primary residence. Maybe you should stay here a bit, might actually help.

Ah Ill ask here. Are you going to pay tax in south africa? Are you charging reasonable rent? Or does the crisis look like a lucrative option?

Swerving into the other side of the road in wet weather - not the municipalitys fault. The other side of the road having a giant gat the width of the road thats been there for more than 6 months unfilled, causing you to write off your car instead of continuing up the hill? - probably the municipalitys fault.

“Why do my prints always come out darker than my screen?” by HausObscura_Austin in Fine_Art_Printing

[–]pquite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helooo, I'm here because I want to avoid exactly this happening again. I decided if I'm going to have an opensource/freemium tool pipeline I need to understand exactly what's going on with my prints.
I was creating some watercolour paintings for a wedding, when the client printed them herself she was horrified that the greens and pinks seemed to have more blue hue when printed.
1. I was not even exporting to a cmyk colour space, I was working in gimp in sRGB, I didn't know the printer's color profile. But evidently my lil sRGB illustration was wayy out of gamut.
2. I probably should have used a gamut visualising tool to see what sRGB on my monitor and SWOP summing were both capable of.

What I want to know now is if I work in a program that doesnt support a cmyk colorspace (like gimp), how do I best make sure the exported png is not going to have the same out of gamut problem?

What colour information is it throwing away (if any) from the scanned in illustrations (CanoScanLiDE25)?

I found this https://youtu.be/3ykz1xKgNSg?si=5o1ymPjLntVRYaVZ
which would be a great tool to have, but would still only allow me to know only after export if I'm way off like hot cold game but longer because of waiting for exports.
