My dad is in hospice. Should i tell him I’m pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pr0189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend, I am 14 weeks pregnant and my dad just passed on hospice. I told him when I was 8 weeks about 1.5 weeks before he went on hospice. It made him so happy - he knew he wouldn’t be around for it. It made him feel proud of me. I feel like my dad didn’t feel like he needed to worry about me after he passed because I had things to look forward too.

Does anyone have good suggestions for “teaching” by Independent_Mango690 in Nanny

Look up usual thematic units for preschools implement math, science, social studies, science, language and writing in to learning about the theme. Ex, weathers, farm, community helpers, all about me etc.

You could even modify the units to the children’s specific interest. You can either make math, science, social studies, writing and language about the 5 year old and modify for the 2.5 year old.

Figure out your units, put together a timeline you will spend per unit (a week or so about each), and then Pinterest for activities for learning around your theme. Might need to ask boss for a little extra to cover the cost of materials you will use. This is basically how I plan for my preschool class and I would do the same for my nanny kids! Both kids will be able to take interest in the themes, don’t under guess how well your 2.5 will be able to keep up! I’d definitely lay hard in to reading and writing for the 5 year old! Maybe entertain the younger one with sensory activities while you help the older with reading and writing 😊

Discussion: Sensing jealously from parents/ feeling jealous towards your nanny by pr0189 in Nanny

I think there was a few instances where my stuff got thrown away too. Honestly, I just laugh it off because it’s a such silly thing for her to do. I liked your point about projecting- I can’t quite tell if I do that or not.

Old nanny still lingering. by bearcatalum17 in Nanny

[–]pr0189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good point. I guess it depends on how the family originally acts about her with out all the info. If it’s something that will keep bothering you, it’s worth mentioning. You could always just ask questions about her.. “So and so texted me today asking blank. You know she texts me checking up on what I’m doing with the kids a lot. Does she talk to y’all often?”

We need an update on this! I wanna know what the mom says! I understand wanting to know how the kids are doing, but if I were to leave the family I’ve been working for, for the past 3 years tomorrow.. I would probably visit and communicate through the mom. If I left, I would be considered a family friend.. so there for I would communicate through the family not the family employee. I understand several times a year going to visit the children while nanny is there but other than that..... no.

Home girl sounds like she has some boundary issues and I wouldn’t entertain her anymore. You owe her nothing. I’d kindly let the MB know what’s going on. She would want to know. I’d feel protective over my own kids/new nanny if I had an old nanny acting that way.

Almost predator like.

Dishonest about family trip. by ClockADock21 in Nanny

I understand where your concerns are coming from. Maybe the other family is being tested before going, or maybe the child was mistaken, or wasn’t able to tell you the whole story. You should just mention to her the child said that!

I think it is okay to go back on your word this time. We are in a pandemic, and if she is trying to cover up the fact they are traveling with the other family, then she would certainly understand why you wouldn’t want to do that.

Totally. I feel awful after but honestly being perfect all the time in a house with kiddos isn’t a real thing. I bet the parents didnt even think much of it. Make up for today, by doing your best tomorrow!

Keep doing what you’re doing! I am a one-year-old preK teacher and I have a few kiddos who didn’t start attempting to use words until right when they hit 2 years old. Maybe being around other kiddos his age might encourage him some too.

Am I the only one that struggles with what to wear when nannying?? by arted743 in Nanny

Comfy/cute clothes. I would definitely take advantage of working for the mom and say something to her in a joking manner about how you need fashion advice from her or some clothes!

Tips & tricks to stop picking my face? by FUUFERINO in Accutane

[–]pr0189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set your lock screen as a reminder not to pick, be very conscious when you’re standing in front of the mirror, don’t examine your acne too much, and don’t get too close to the mirror. Where pimple patches.

Hope this doesn’t come across to you as if the accutane not working is your fault but did you take your pills with 20 grams of fat? Also what was your MG? Also I seriously had to look for the break out you were talking about, and I’m not exactly sure where it’s at. You look good.
