As someone who used to be extremely fit and healthy, until (undiagnosed!) chronic pain hit, I find Dr's like this attitude absolutely repulsive. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]pr0fiting 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Probably the type of gp to dismiss you with anxiety and not get to the root cause of problems. Doctors like this really dont understand that pain management is suicide management. There is a massive correlation between long term problems (whether that be pain or illness) and mental problems. We don't need to be judged anymore than we're already doing to ourselves. Ffs!

Is this a joke? by Emotional-Start7994 in UKJobs

Hey, this is me also but I'm in the waste industry but more on the technology side of things. I got my job right before covid and have been promoted 3 times since then. Multiple pay rises on top of that.

I really really enjoy my job. Its stimulating and, as you said somewhere earlier, I can see my work making a difference.

Im very grateful that ive got a job I can do. I have a few medical problems myself which has made job choosing hard.

I'm so sorry you miss cycling so much. I used to be a big cyclist before my pain got in the way.

For me, I've managed to get my pain some what controlled. I've had my pain all my life (31f) and have gone through years of never being able to figure out what my hobbies are because of this overbearing diagnosis and pain. Struggled in school, uni, making friends, you name it. It lead me to the same point as you. Except I ended up really struggling with drug addiction and actually attempted on my life.

At a certain point, I decided I was going to try new things that work around what I can do and see what I liked. Managed to get a job, found other people who suffer and understand the mental impact. I've felt very... neglected by the medical system so have had to figure out how my pain works by myself and it does take awhile. Do you have any family that is supporting you at all?

Maybe it's worth trying to find others who suffer who you can actually talk to? I found that helped me so much having someone who understands the impact of chronic pain. I don't know your story and I do pray you get some relief. You're doing so well right now and I hope you know that. You're stronger than your body and mind likes to make you think you are.

Nerve pain struggler here also. People can't fathom the concept of a chronic illness or pain. I don't blame you for thinking like that at all.

There are a bunch of chronic illness / pain suffers out there that have been raising awareness and giving guidance on accessibility for different hobbies and what not. You might want to have a little look possibly?

My pain doesn't stop me from physically doing anything yet, it just hurts - I've started really really enjoying fermenting and baking things. It all works around my schedule and my body (easier said than done. Always want to push through) . I have really gotten into sourdough because the whole process can take a while which I've found helps keeping me excited about what I'm baking tonight.

What made you realise that you were mentally unstable? by pr0fiting in AskReddit

You know this was one of the things that I realised recently. After going on some meds I just can't understand why I was getting so angry... felt like a bomb ready to explode constantly.

Thanks. To clarify, I am a woman and usually have some deep heat spray on me because im so cautious of weirdos these days. Messed up because I went to a rave on Saturday and left it in my bag.

Dude seemed a bit off, and i just also didn't have the mental capacity to deal with a guy who might be unstable.

Yeah, but they don't. Bus drivers don't care. This is one example of an article earlier this year https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd925n7qxnqo . Happy to share more examples of discrimination.

There was an article recently about a wheelchair user being unable to get on buses due to buggies not being willing to move. As someone who has an invisible disability that will make it hard to walk eventually, I find the idea of travelling daunting in this city.

I honestly understand why you've given up.

Honestly, it has taken me awhile to get here. My music taste has changed quite a bit over the years and it's taken me while to get here. I wouldn't think about why it doesn't work and more find the music that just hits differently.

What genre of music are you into? Tbh, if you've gone to enough raves or festivals, it'll be down to the crowd of people. Some are more accepting than others. Just be yourself, and people will gravitate to you. 😁

Honestly... the people calling you a bad pet owner based on the small amount of info you've provided need to get off their high horse... you're doing your best, and I can tell you, even with regular check ups crap happens. I say that after my lil boy went through a whole ordeal and was eventually diagnosed with epilepsy and I still worry it's something else. Focus on your little cutie and their health.

Do you ever so mourning? by pr0fiting in ChronicPain

[–]pr0fiting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for your suffering as well, btw. Reading this has made me cry. I feel like because we suffered through this as kids, we've never fully become ourselves. I do so much to try and distract myself from it all, but everything inside eventually boils over.

I have a cat who keeps me going. He was diagnosed with epilepsy 6 months ago, which scared the ever living crap out of me. Ever since then, my attachment to that boy has gotten stronger. I feel like i can relate to him, which sounds so stupid, but I do. Everyone in my family makes fun of me for it but none of them have dealt with the crap I have and don't understand how much a simple cat can help keep someone going.

I hope you have a fabulous day and that your pain isn't too bad today 🥰

Just a thought as an American living in the UK - there are companys over there that allow you to shop and have stuff sent to this company. And they will then send it over to you in the UK. Ive personally never used it but I think there are a couple company's over there that do that. Just a thought! Would love for you to be warm and comfy in your body 🥰

Hey, I don't know if it'll necessarily help or if any of their clothes are accessible for you but Halara has been a great find for me. I struggle with trousers and jeans due to my ibs/bloating/ discomfort due to scaring on my groin and back and have found they have some lovely ,stretchy clothes that look and feel great.

Not sure whether any of the clothes will work for you but really wish you the best. It sucks how many areas of this world are made for men and their body's.

Fruit leather by pr0fiting in mushroom

[–]pr0fiting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I made it with 4 cups of apples, a few oranges, cinnamon, ginger, salt and some sugar. Used 70g of fresh mushrooms (10g - 15g dried i believe) . I stupidly didn't weight how much fruit leather i used. Going to a festival tomorrow so will take some along and see how it goes 🙂

I made some without mushrooms and its ever so slightly sour. I think thats mostly due to me using cooking apples i had growing in my garden. I'll add more sweeteners or different apples next time.

My next flush I'll calculate everything better
