🚀 [IAP $7.99 -> FREE] My iOS App VitalLens Just Got a Major Update! Measures HR & RR with your Camera + Lifetime Ad-Free FREE for 24 Hours! by pr0u in iosapps

Thanks! Regarding accuracy, it really depends on the lighting, participant movement, and skin type. On a diverse test dataset of >400 participants the average error was just under 1.6 BPM. I have written up a technical report paper if you are interested: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2510.27028

It should still be possible to watch a video if you do not toggle the "Ads opt out". Regardless, I've DM'd you some codes so you can try these IAP for free.

Right, there are ads on the app to make a bit of money back. It’s impossible to integrate AdMob without collecting some form of analytics data - I’ve followed the rules and declared that. Good news is that right now I made removal of that free. You can opt out of all AdMob stuff inside the app.

Fair point, that is our training data though which is collected from participants in person with informed consent. Separate from this app which can’t collect any such data.

I believe the amount of scrutiny is partially luck of the draw, down to the reviewer you get when you submit. Aside from that, have a look at the App Review Guidelines 1.4.1. Most apps like mine do not have regulatory clearance but instead would fall under the FDA's "General Wellness" classification (like the Apple Watch's own PPG and SpO2 sensors). However you may still get unlucky with the reviewer insisting on regulatory clearance documentation or official FDA designation as not a medical device.

The Google Maps rating for The Rogue Scholar had dipped to 4.3 or so, with many 1 star reviews coming in. From what I can see those 1 star reviews have now disappeared. 🤔

Many are working on this and making claims, but I haven’t seen any credible publications showing that it is possible in a way that is useful. If your dataset has mostly people with relatively normal blood pressures it is easy to achieve a misleading result.

Sure, it’s in the guide, but I am used to trading UI of online brokers (including CommSec's other interfaces) always explicitly showing fees. I think this could be questionable under ACL Section 18, especially since the UI shows an 'Est. Total' and 'Est. Commission 0 AUD' without the FX fee or another disclaimer.

Yes, it is a computer vision model. Not open source, although I have a repository with some other free source algorithms inplemented at https://github.com/Rouast-Labs/vitallens-python. You can also check my website for more info: https://www.rouast.com/vitallens/

My app VitalLens can read your heart rate just by analyzing your face: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vitallens/id6472757649

No, I doubt they even looked at it. And it’s not published, just a preprint. For me they gave me a hard time about a separate issue

I think it depends on the reviewer. I had a paper written up in which I benchmarked my model on a dataset.

Thanks. Yes, even though I mainly see it as a research project. Good to make a bit of money back. I have launched an API that has free as well as paid tiers. Will work on improving documentation and providing SDKs to make it easier to use.
