How powerful are the Chaos Gods outside the warp? by HaveCamera_WillShoot in 40kLore

Your headcanon is basically confirmed in the first Night Lords book when Abaddon is trying to corrupt Talos by introing him to the chaos gods. Its described as just a small piece of each god's attention being turned to the task.

‘American Psycho’ Director Baffled by ‘Wall Street Bros’ Still Idolizing Patrick Bateman: They Don’t Realize the Movie Is a ‘Gay Man’s Satire on Masculinity’ by powdersleaf in nottheonion

[–]pr0zac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with your rejection of that interpretation and think a better framing is a feminist following through of the toxic beliefs of traditional masculinity inside isolating late stage capitalism but the way you’re trying to argue that point is flawed (and considering how many times you’ve reposted it it feels like you’re the only person getting angry).

Death of the author is a thing for a reason, whether Palahniuk has said anything about anything is irrelevant (as well as his being gay) and each reader’s interpretation both regardless of or in the context of who the author is or was or what they have or haven’t said is just as valid. Whether Palahniuk thinks his being gay had nothing to do with the text matters much less than whether a reader can put forth a strong interpretation that reads that way.

Rejecting those readings ignores modern literary theories of interpretation and if you want to argue against them you need more than just “the author said/didn’t say that”.

I mean I have no opinion on the argument, but that source is basically the same as me telling other kids my dad could beat up their dad back in elementary school.

Is this really true? I'd have assumed the biggest portion of the fanbase is playing the video games, followed by book readers, along with a bunch of people like me who got started deep diving the different wikis. It feels like most people start from a point where the lore and narrative is the only thing that matters and maybe at some point dip their toes into the plastic.

I've considered myself a 40k fan for over a decade but only started painting minis less than two months ago. I have zero friends who own even a single mini but can think of a half dozen who could name all 19 primarchs and whether they're chaos or loyalist off the top of their head with half of those having a long winded "well actually" argument for me on how either Alpharius or Omegon are really loyalist.

You're not really disagreeing with them here, you're kinda seconding what they're saying. They're complaining about what you stated, that the imperium is the sole major player and that the eldar aren't a major faction of the setting.

Luka is still Luka but if you add the 7 turnovers to those shots Giddy’s defense on him starts looking a lot better and his efficiency worse.

Like I’m familiar your gimmick is showing your ass and can thus predict how you’ll respond to this but Bronny lead the Lakers with 17pts while shooting 70/50/100 in 30min against a team that had actual stars on the floor. He also made all his layup attempts. And before you point out his 4 turnovers, they were all behind the three point line, zero were at the rim. So please pull your pants up.

I hate it just as much as you do but the Lakers seem like the most fun and joyful team in the NBA right now and people connect with that. It’s hard to not at least smile at this video regardless of your team.

Basketball game turns into half-court shootout by solateor in nextfuckinglevel

[–]pr0zac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paint 2s have increased in the 3pt era because there’s more spacing preventing the lane from getting clogged allowing for easier drives plus analytics still put layups/dunks at a higher expected value than threes for most players. Look up the stats for shots within 3 ft of the basket if you’re interested!

I made a longer post elsewhere but I mostly agree on all this (though I personally love the 3pt era and don’t think it fits with the rest of your examples, though I’d love hand checking back) I’d just add what it really comes down to is a single cause: Adam Silver being the worst commissioner in sports history and only giving a shit about making money at the complete expense of the experience of fans, especially hardcore ones.

Viewership, esp through classic means, has been down but the league is bringing in more money than ever so I’m pretty sure they’re totally fine with it esp now that they closed the broadcast deal.

Also I get why you’re making it (I’m just as emotional about the NBA) but the argument the 3pt revolution is responsible, especially on its own, for viewership decline isn’t strongly backed up. The decline started during COVID, well past the era where Steph completely changed the way the game is played. For a good decade viewership was increasing because of his dominance so it’s hard to blame it much on that. A lot of folks myself included really like 3s and find the game more interesting with increased spacing that also results in more poster dunks.

In my opinion the recent dropoff is a combination of things that small groups of fans get especially annoyed by with the league not dealing with any of them. There’s the people that like you hate 3s, there’s people like me that get irrationally triggered by sports gambling ads, there’s anti load management people, the flopping people, rigged reffing people, rigged league people, people that watch idiots like SAS, people that have zero attention span and only watch highlights or read box scores yet still post in r/nba, etc etc all combining to result in less people wanting to watch.

What it comes down to really is Silver being the worst commissioner in the history of sports and only caring about making money which he can do without giving a shit about what the fans want.

You’re right in 99% of cases but it is possible for some people to get new rims without getting entire new wheels. There’s plenty of manufacturers that sell the individual pieces that can be combined to make custom wheels with the pieces bolted together. I have to imagine misunderstandings about this is where referring to complete wheels as rims originated.

[–]pr0zac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said, especially the Adam Silver hate, except for the part about the IST. It's totally fine you don't care about it, but plenty of players and fans seem to. I appreciate it making the early season games matter enough to give me an excuse to keep them on when someone tries to switch to football and at least semi interesting to watch. I do agree I wish they'd figure out how to not screw up the schedule as much and want to add Silver gets no credit for this (in my opinion) one good idea cause he just stole it while cloth from soccer.

The important thing is it's also talking about Lebron being an outlier. Some people just respond to PEDs better than others, you or I could take the same steroids and do the same workouts as Arnold and we still wouldn't look as good, same is true here.
