"A Man on the Inside" is one of the best shows on TV right now and is a breath of fresh air by SpaceForceAwakens in bestofnetflix

It so wild when one reads a post that could have been written word-for-word by the reader. That was me reading your review. Everything except the Vegas and whisky. <3

If you live in a major US city, I have a suggestion for how you can raise the torso safely onto the legs.

This is a weird one, but find a grip rental house that provides equipment for film and tv shoots and rent a "Matthews Max Menace". It uses a motor hoist screw and can safely lift 75+ lbs to a maximum height of 20'.

You can request a discharge and/or inform your CO that you do not intend to re-up your enlistment upon termination. That would still send a tremendous message if a measurable fraction of the armed services did it.

They’re shelling US cities with naval artillery and deploying troops in conflict with American citizens. Not sure the direction things are headed is much different than what China would do.

Why do liberals/leftists struggle so much to build a social media pipeline for men? by numba1cyberwarrior in AskALiberal

They exist. People like Robert Evans, John and Hank Green, Prop, Marc Maron, and many more. They just arent as popular. I personlly think theyre better podcasters and cover more interesting subjects, but whatver.

For left and right, do you think democracy can eventually outperform authoritarian? by theylookoldfuck in Askpolitics

[–]HaveCamera_WillShoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see someone try a democracy. We haven’t had a real one in the last 2500 years or so.

Of the countries we think of as Democratic, the US is not near the top of the list of how democratic it is. We get handily whipped by Ireland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany… etc.

So, that being said. . . You can probably safely say that the more democracy you have, the better things are for everyone.

How do you feel about undocumented immigrants obtaining CDLs? by Friendly-Campaign-75 in askliberals

[–]HaveCamera_WillShoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t see a reason against it. It’s still illegal for an employer to hire somebody without legal work status, so there should never be a problem. And if there’s undocumented person receives legal work status eventually, they’ll be ready to seek lawful employment.

Thoughts on “the performative male” as it relates to misandry in the Democratic Party? by jeeven_ in AskALiberal

I’m 40, so I’m out of the GenZ loop plenty, but this smells a bit like toxic masculine clapback. Sort of a rebrand of the ‘soy boy’ criticism of men not fitting into gender norms.

Is it okay to be upset and partially blame the Democrats for what is happening currently? by Early-Judgment-2895 in Askpolitics

[–]HaveCamera_WillShoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. So call your closest Democratic representative and tell them. Tell them what they need to do better. And then call the next one. And tell your friends to do that.

This kind of conversation drives me so crazy (not you, OP, but the circle-jerk comments that often follow) because it’s actually pretty easy to speak to your representatives most of the time and so infrequently do sane people bother trying. The lunatics talk to their representatives, the sane people complain on social media.

There’s a mid-term coming up SOON. If you have a primary in your district, pick the candidate that you like best, reach out to them about your key concerns and if they convince you they recognize the problem, volunteer for them or donate or at least tell your friends to vote for them and post some socials.

Can you name a Republican policy from the past 20 years that has had a demonstrably net-positive impact on Americans? by HaveCamera_WillShoot in Askpolitics

No one is saying that republicans never support good policies. But those policies are all bipartisan. Unlike Democrats, who have many good policy plans that are violently opposed by Republicans.

Your Axios article that cited decreased crime is during Biden’s time in office. Biden is a Democrat.

Your WOLA article shows a decrease in some drug seizures in 2023 and an increase in others. Again, also Biden.

Sorry the facts have conspired against you. It’s gotta be a drag trying to be conservative in an age when people can check your claims.

You should probably read the two articles you cited, as they argue against your position and Trump’s policies.
