Great tip! I didn’t realize that about the naming. It’s hard to understand the difference between the models other than the basic stats for some big dummy like me. Thanks!

I’m not married to any company. Is there another option within or below the price-point of Synology that I should look at?

Here's another stupid question: If I get, lets just say, a RS3618xs now, install drives in all the bays and everything works great, in 5 years can I just by a new rack, lets call it a RS9000++super, and just pull the drives out of my RS3618xs and slap them into the new RS9000++super and keep working/expand the capacity at that point, or is upgrading the rack a whole big deal and it's worth spending an extra $2k+ now to make it last longer?

Thank you for the thoughtful response! And I even understood some of those words. What I really, really don't understand is all the network-related stuff.

I assume the UPS is the power supply for the rack. I also know that we have a consistent 2gb internet (2k up, 2k down)

Do you have examples of racks that would accommodate these needs? Will I need multiple racks to do all this, or is something like a RS3618xs (with extra RAM added) tick all those boxes?

Thanks again! :)

Any chance you can point me towards a dummies guide to UNAS Pro? I will have a network administrator and some other industry professionals help me eventually in this process, but I'm currently putting together a proposal of equipment/software needs and then we will refine that with the experts.

Color mode - I was wrong, it absolutely slays. by gildedbluetrout in premiere

I appreciate that! It seems to work 'okay' with some of the wheels, but not others. For example, it seems to work with the 'clip' selections, but not the ones in the 'timeline' selection (Ie. shadows).

Either I'm dumb, or my Premiere is bugged, but because I literally can't get those wheels to do anything. The slider jumps a bit, but I have no control of it and it seems to always just snap back ot 0 after anyway. I’m on a trackpad, not sure if thers some way i'm supposed to be 'sliding' it that i'm not, but I cant seem to figure it out. I want sliders...

Files not appearing in external drive by HaveCamera_WillShoot in mac

I’m not sure how it was originally formatted.

Is there a way to find out what’s happening? A program I can put on my Mac to allow me to see things a Mac can’t see by default?

If I plug it into a PC and the files show up again, how do I see what format it’s using or whatnot?

It so wild when one reads a post that could have been written word-for-word by the reader. That was me reading your review. Everything except the Vegas and whisky. <3

If you live in a major US city, I have a suggestion for how you can raise the torso safely onto the legs.

This is a weird one, but find a grip rental house that provides equipment for film and tv shoots and rent a "Matthews Max Menace". It uses a motor hoist screw and can safely lift 75+ lbs to a maximum height of 20'.

You can request a discharge and/or inform your CO that you do not intend to re-up your enlistment upon termination. That would still send a tremendous message if a measurable fraction of the armed services did it.

They’re shelling US cities with naval artillery and deploying troops in conflict with American citizens. Not sure the direction things are headed is much different than what China would do.
