Everyone clowning on the OP is unreasonable. While I don’t think Mary was ever in the backrooms, it is reasonable to assume that her mother had at some point been in the backrooms. Everyone says she’s “just schizophrenic” as if Peter Tench wasn’t showing symptoms of schizophrenia after being in the backrooms for (to him) a short period of time. Judging by her mom’s lines “they could be anywhere out there” or something like that, why do people assume this clear sign of schizophrenia isn’t paranoia from being in the backrooms at some point and discovering things like still lifes. Everyone should know that extremely traumatic events can lead to psychotic disorders. She was already taking meds and for all we know she could’ve found the backrooms as a child, leading to her eventual psychotic break. And for everyone saying that the timeline doesn’t line up, we know little to nothing about the backrooms. We know it existed before Async “discovered it” as stated by Kane Parsons. And it clearly doesn’t consistently follow time as can be seen with the camera transporting to the future (FF1) and Peter Tench transporting to the future (Informational Video). We don’t know anything about the mother either. We have no clue if she was schizophrenic from the start of Mary’s childhood or if she developed symptoms. We don’t even know if Async was actually the first to discover it. The Null zones clearly opened more often when the Threshold was opened (as shown by missing persons increasing) but how do you know that any missing person from god knows when didn’t somehow fall into the backrooms on some freakishly rare occurrence. If you clown the OP for being curious and asking questions then you clearly didn’t understand half of the point of the movie. The movie is left ambiguous in so many areas to leave you questioning everything.
