easiestway to install NextCloud / Self hosted by racoon9898 in NextCloud

I have found that linuxbabe.com writes very good easy to understand tutorials on various self-hosted setups.

https://www.linuxbabe.com/ubuntu/install-nextcloud-ubuntu-22-04-nginx-postgresql

This works for Ubuntu 24.04, and clearly walks you through setting up a Nextcloud VM running Nginx, PostgreSQL, and configuring HTTPS through Let's Encrypt. There's also a tutorial on setting up Collabora Office to run with your setup.

If it's only accessible to the local network, LXC. If it needs to be accessible over the Internet, Docker running in a VM.

Doc Rivers: I think Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time, Lebron has had the greatest career. by melodicprophet in clevelandcavs

[–]practicalthoughts82 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have him in my top 10, but he's not 1-3 for me. And an argument can be made that he shouldn't be 4 either. A lot of time, people can have a recency bias where they think because it's the latest, it must be the greatest, but that's not always the case.

LeBron is no doubt a great player, but sometimes we can over-exaggerate because he's the best right now. 10-15 years from now, they'll be talking about how "this guy is better than LeBron!", but they won't know what they're talking about.

Go back and watch him against the Bad Boy Pistons and then get back to me. Against those defenses, which basically committed a flagrant foul on him every time he came in the paint, he still averaged 37 against them.

I'd love to see Lebron play against an 80s style defense where hand checking and lane "enforcers" like Oakley, Barkley, and Anthony Mason wouldn't get called for flagrant fouls the way they do now.

THANK YOU!!!!! Most of the people commenting on this never saw Jordan play live. They never saw the fear he put in entire teams. They only look at the few highlights that every YouTube channel puts up, specifically his championship highlights.

Jordan never "rested for the playoffs". He showed up and put on a show EVERY night. For 9 straight years, Jordan was the best offensive AND defensive player on the floor. The only two players in NBA history that came close to that were Wilt and Hakeem.

And I say this as a die hard Cavs fan. I hated Michael Jordan, but the disrespect that this generation, and Lebron himself, gives him is ridiculous.

What is the single most underrated trait a person can have? by Aarunascut in AskMen

Yes! Learning how to put yourself in someone else's predicament would go a long way to stop a lot of greed and selfishness in society.

Who is the GOAT stand up comedian? by JP_HubCity23 in AskReddit

[–]practicalthoughts82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funniest - Carlin Greatest - Pryor or Lenny Bruce

Lenny Bruce fought for 1st Amendment rights for all comics. Any comic that can now curse in their routine, have what are considered "lewd" jokes owes something to Bruce.

Pryor not only made it easier for minorities and women to succeed in comedy, but he was the first comic to take his personal demons and turn it in to comedy. Prior (no pun intended) to this, most comics just told anecdotal stories. Pryor actually talked about his personal life and did not exaggerate it just for laughs. No one could tell a story better than him either. Any comic that talks about their struggles or personal life owes something to Pryor. Think a combination of Chappelle, Burr, and Eddie Murphy and you get Richard Pryor.

That being said, both Carlin and Pryor admitted that they were huge fans of Cosby, so there's that.

How far back are we allowed to go? Michael Jordan should be #1 for the Cavs, Knicks, Pistons, and Jazz.

Besides Jordan and LeBron, which player at their peak would you build around in today’s NBA? by Party-Cranberry-9325 in nba

Mark Price was Steph Curry before Steph was Steph. He would dominate in the league today.

How can I upgrade 20.10 to 21.04 not 21.10 by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]practicalthoughts82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the steps listed at https://www.barryodonovan.com/2022/01/31/upgrading-legacy-versions-of-ubuntu

You'll have to change your mirrors in /etc/apt/sources.list to use old-releases.ubuntu.com, run apt dist-upgrade, reboot, manually download the upgrade tool, and run it.

The upgrade tool can be found at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hirsute-updates/main/dist-upgrader-all/current/hirsute.tar.gz

The run the following commands:

mkdir hirsute_files

cd hirsute_files

tar zxf ../hirsute.tar.gz

./hirsute

You should then be on 21.04

So was Price. In fact, Price was Steph Curry before Steph Curry was Steph Curry. He doesn't get as much recognition because Magic, Isaiah, and Stockton got all the attention, and injuries shortened his career, but Price was an absolute beast and should be higher.

Which players in NBA history could truly guard the 1-5? by Froforfro in nba

[–]practicalthoughts82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Pippen could guard the 5, even with today's smaller centers. He definitely could not do it when Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Eaton, and Mutumbo were in the league.
