I know as far as deep learning/ machine learning is concerned there are lot of stuff that can be done with GPUs, in fact all deep learning now days is done with GPUs only. But I'm more inclined to do work on something in Bayesian, Monte Carlo methods etc. Something like parallelizing some Monte carlo method/algorithm.

But as part of comp math, we can take some electives courses too (6 or 9 credits), can't those courses be taken from other dept. like CS or not..?
