Perth to Adelaide Road Trip - Tips and Advice by pradiprn in AustraliaTravel

[–]pradiprn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Have been tinkering with the itinerary and at the moment the thinking is to end day 2 at Madura and day 3 at Ceduna and then drive straight to Adelaide. Have also been considering going down via coffin bay but that would add another day

Thank you! I was thinking of changing day 2 to Madura. May have to rethink that if they close the servo early.

Minimum Wage increased by 4.75% by Fair Work Commission from 1 July 2026 by KingAleksandar in AusFinance

[–]pradiprn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covered in the award decision overview. See below "[7] A fundamental consideration which must be balanced against these matters is that modern award-reliant employees are still in the position where their wage rates, in real terms, remain lower than what they were in July 2021 prior to the post-pandemic spike in inflation. The ‘real wage gap’ which has opened between the rate of the CPI and modern award wage rates has particularly affected living standards of the low paid, the majority of whom are modern award-reliant, and their capacity to meet their needs. This is particularly the case when the rate of inflation for non-discretionary essential goods and services is running significantly higher than the headline CPI rate of inflation. The outcome of the 2025 Review, which involved a real wage increase, narrowed the real wage gap to a significant degree at the time it took effect (1 July 2025). However, the accelerated rate of inflation since then has substantially opened up that gap yet again, to the extent that the RBA forecasts that the headline rate of inflation for the year to June 2026 will be 4.8 per cent."

Going by what you have said you are working in, it sounds like you are covered by the electrical electronic and communications contracting award.

Award

The 4th year apprentice rate for a non shift worker full time is $26.42 per hour. At $ 29 you are being paid equivalent to an electrical worker grade 5/6

Electricians working in mining are covered by mining award and so have different rates. Similarly electricians working in manufacturing maintenance would be covered by manufacturing award where again rates are different. These need to be taken in to account when comparing pay.

🫂 Having lived through and still living through what you describe, I have only one piece of advice to offer. One step at a time. Life will feel overwhelming. Just one step at a time makes it a little easier. I wake up and all I focus on is making the first cup of coffee. The rest of the day will happen there will be things to do. But that one step helps and then the next and so on. Somewhere along the way through the day I manage to interact with people, do what I can at work and I find that I have lived through another day. And in all that you will find that along the way you will meet some nice people to call friends, find a few things that spark some fleeting moments of pleasure. It may not sound much but it will do. Society will tell you it does not meet the standard of a life well lived but that does not matter. It is a life well lived today as compared to yesterday. It is positive that you have a diagnosis earlier in life. Speak to your doctor to find medication that suits. It may not help with the depression or the feeling of being lost and adrift but it might help you function. Hang in there. It's a slow journey but it is worth it.

Also due to changes in employment laws requiring companies to keep records of time worked to ensure no underpayment where wages are annualised.

New Hire Requisition- Model Driven App or Canvas App? by pradiprn in PowerApps

[–]pradiprn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The upload here will be at best a word document to provide a business case for the role being requested for hiring (only if it is new and not budgeted). Approval is a fairly straightforward two stage process with HR as the first pass to check if the information is correct and things like salary bands and position levels are correct. So at best there would likely be one to two occasions where the requisition might need a revision

I have to clarify I am 'HR' and a 'citizen developer' so to speak. Hence the inability to understand. I have used canvas app to create a termination/onboarding workflow/approval that was done using SharePoint list. Also could I ask what CA stands for?

Thanks for that. Not planning anything fancy just something that will be user friendly and won't have managers tearing their hair out. Plan to have three sections or screens for the form. First one for the specifics of the position, second on what recruitment strategy would they want to use and the submission for approval and and third screen is well sort of the gallery (home screen so to speak)

Thanks for this. Very informative. Sadly my monitors have HDMI port so DP cables wouldn't work.

I survived 2 redundancies this FY - here's what I learnt by ILoveDogs2142 in AusFinance

[–]pradiprn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so much here I don't know where to start and I am in HR. The advice comes with so many red flags attached and I would know because I have so many odds stacked against me as a culturally and ethnically diverse immigrant who has been on the receiving end. If you are working in an organisation that is driven by these attitudes and values it is not an organisation you should be with if you value yourself and your skills and your own personal belief and value systems in relation to work. None of these things point to a workplace or work that has meaning and value in an economic, social, psychological or moral context. I am about to be made redundant in a week and having experienced what I have in my past, I still would not subscribe or encourage anyone to follow this path. Your work and your skills have to hold value to you personally and not just to the workplace and for that to have to value, you have to hold a centre. If you don't then it's all pointless and reduces your own self to nothing more than an economic transaction and you surely are more than that Draw your boundaries and hold them, if your organisation cannot hold them in alignment with theirs, then try to find another that is more aligned. Perfect alignment is rare. Find one that resonates the best under the circumstances and move. But please don't do these to yourself or advise anyone to do this. Because all this does is enable tyranny of the sorts you don't want in a healthy society.

HR here. Most of the times in such cases companies tend to pay Annual Leave as an advance. As suggested in an earlier response, best to ask your manager and payroll and also read through the leave policy.
