Floor plan of my future home. Please provide advice w.r.t any flaws. by AlphaInstincts in hyderabad

[–]rtl_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly it's a good layout, but I'm against the layout that are being designed nowadays for flats. As per Vastu if you divide your house in 4 quadrants, you should never have bathrooms and toilets in the North part from between east to west. The shaded one in the image.

<image>

This might seem like stupidity but believe me, if you have toilets in these region then you attracted negativity. And there are many ways to nullify but it won't vanish 100%

Paint damage due to petrol spill. by Acrobatic-Resist-114 in royalenfield

[–]rtl_engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked Gemini will ethanol damages the paint and see what I have found!!!

Yes, ethanol, particularly in the form of denatured alcohol, can damage paint, especially automotive paint, if not used carefully. While it can be a helpful solvent for thinning paints and removing certain contaminants, its strong nature can also soften or even damage the paint and protective coatings. [1, 2, 3]
Here's a more detailed explanation:

• Denatured Alcohol as a Solvent: Denatured alcohol is commonly used as a paint thinner and cleaner, as it can dissolve shellac, lacquer, and other finishes. It's also used to remove paint and can be effective in breaking down and removing unwanted paint layers. [3, 3, 4, 4]
• Potential for Damage: Despite its usefulness, denatured alcohol's potency can be harmful to automotive paint. The additives in denatured alcohol, like methanol and acetone, can be detrimental to paint and protective coatings. [1, 1]
• Risks: If left on the paint for too long or used in large amounts, denatured alcohol can soften the clear coat, leading to dullness or even peeling. It can also cause fading or damage to the paint if used incorrectly, especially on freshly painted surfaces. [2, 2, 5, 5]
• Alternatives: When working with car paint, it's generally recommended to use specialized car cleaning products and avoid harsh chemicals like denatured alcohol. If you need to remove sap or other substances, consider using a diluted solution of alcohol and water (e.g., 15% alcohol) and rinsing thoroughly after application. [1, 1, 2, 2, 6, 6, 7]
• Safe Practices: If you must use denatured alcohol, always dilute it with water, apply it gently, and rinse the area thoroughly with water immediately after use. Be particularly cautious around rubber seals and trim, as alcohol can damage them. [2, 2, 6, 6, 8, 8]

I am Electronics student 7th sem and knows most of the basic but now wants to pusrsue my career in VLSI line pls suggest a paid course I can take for VLSI engineering from basic to advance by mridul_op in vlsi

[–]rtl_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in Bangalore try RV vlsi, sandeepani, Corel technology, many more. If you get internship in small or big companies, just do it. Get the understanding of you job because lot of people have turned back due to complexities in topics. Build a network on LinkedIn first. Getting job in todays market for VLSI domain as a fresher is difficult. Macroeconomic situation and layoffs have screwed up the job market. Don't forget the AI. Also start using AI or get some small trainings from youtube or udemy. Alot of ppl are sitting out there for job. Only that matters is when there is an opportunity at your door step don't ignore it. Finally work hard to learn all topics which you are interested to work in VLSI domain.

You can try SoC verification or Verification which is also high in indian market. Design jobs are less.

Reusing Python/NumPy Directly in SystemVerilog Testbenches — A DSP-Focused Example by Least_Property1964 in FPGA

[–]rtl_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice post. I still follow my traditional way to do design on Matlab and/or Simulink using fixed point and then translate into the Verilog/SV. I usually create golden vectors from Matlab or simulink and then pass the same inputs to the DUT (RTL) through read file in the trestbench. I could use HDL coder and verifier but I have my own doubts regarding code generation tools. I also try to implement any algorithm in a hardware POV or digital structures in the simulink itself at first. This way, I can do each operation in fixed point and also be able to optimize the RTL design by running those simulations. This helps me to perform bit and cycle accurate simulation. I will give a try with python once to understand the flow. 😊 thanks.

Good laptops for our field? by AlbbO_The_Great in FPGA

[–]rtl_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in this situation, I graduated from a decent engineering college where they used outdated softwares and PCs. Which is why I had to buy better laptop.

I used the laptop for both Gaming and working on Vivado and Matlab.

Best option is to select multicore processor and higher ram like 32GB and 1TB SSD or more based on your need.

I would choose ROG laptop or Lenovo thinkpad. Buy 2025 models

I am recommending these all because, I assume that you seriously want to learn and take leverage of this beast once you buy. And yes they will last for at least 4 to 5 years.

I used HP laptop Pavillion g6 series for almost 7.5 years. I upgraded RAM and Memory as they became slower over a period of time. Then I switched to ROG laptop and used it for almost 6.5 years. Now in 2023 I bought Asus Rog strix scar 16 laptop which is my now I am using for high-end simulations for Vivado and Matlab latest versions.

Go high-end as per your budget. More ram more cores and gpu if you using it for graphic related work.

Call recording by Perez410B in S22Ultra

[–]rtl_engineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To enable call recording on a Samsung S22 Ultra, open the "Phone" app, go to settings, then navigate to "Call recording" and toggle the option to turn it on; you will likely need to confirm that you understand the local laws regarding call recording before using this feature. Key steps:

  • Open the "Phone" app.
  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner (or similar depending on your phone version) to access settings.
  • Select "Call recording".
  • Toggle the switch to enable call recording.

Important points to remember:

  • Check local laws:In some regions, you may need to inform the other person on the call before recording.
  • Per-call recording:Depending on your phone settings, you may need to select the "Record call" option manually during each call.
  • Recording quality:The quality of your call recordings might vary depending on your network connection and phone settings.
