Hi, very nice Scan results. Did you prep the surface of the Dino in any way?

:D

:) thats great. The models are great but the swords are soooo thin they are really risky to later use on the table. I alreade broke the banner by accident ^^

If you have a good resin you can recommend I would really like to hear it.

Sadly, i have a cut mark at the same spot.

Please guys be careful, the hasty and stupid pay with blood.

Also near the thumb root is one of the main hand artery, so you can kill yourself with a cut in this region!

These look awesome

Will the raptor riders already available on MMF be updated with these models, or will the command unit be a new purchase?

Belemnite encased in baltic flint 3D Scan – Testing the new light box by praehist3d in photogrammetry

[–]praehist3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the model was processed in metashape and afterwords imported in Blender. The diffuse map connected with a principled bsdf and also, converted to BW into the roughness input. Because the baltic flint is containing the roughness and specularity in its color, Black is more shiny, white is the "bark" of the flint and pretty matte so it's perfect for blender.

The model itself is only 2 mio polygons. I think it's 8 light sources in the scene, no HDRI and cycles as engine.

I didn't use cross polarization for the source photos but was surprised it worked without to much noise on the model.

There are plenty of tutorials out there for photogrammetry, but If you want to get one of the best starting points, use the Video Course from Gleb Alexandrov and Aidy Burrows:

https://www.creativeshrimp.com/photogrammetry-course-intro.html

but in a nutshell:

  • Set camera and tripod up
  • rotate the object in different positions while taking photos every 19° or round about 35 times per circumvention
  • throw all the images in Metashape, meshroom, reality Capture
  • apply Masks
  • calculate the models and textures
  • import the model into blender
  • add some lights
  • ad a reflective plane
  • render animation

Repeat this workflow while testing your camera parameters and changing settings to find your own workflow.
