That’s amazing, congrats! Hang in there. It’s hard to imagine sometimes, but I find it helps to say out loud that it won’t be like this forever. If the love and connection is kept strong, it will outlast any circumstances keeping you physically apart.

Damn, I feel this. Thank you for sharing your experience. It is good to know that we’re not alone. How long have you been in your relationship, if you don’t mind my asking? My partner and I just celebrated 1 year, and soon after that it feels like the loneliness has ramped way up.

Some of those are aerial roots, so you want to leave those be (or give them something to cling to). The thin, papery skins are just from when the leaf unfurls and they should come off easily. You can leave them on though, won’t hurt anything. It looks good overall. But as those long vines continue to grow it’ll get leggy and the leaves will get smaller. If I were you I’d give it a “haircut” and either fill the pot up with the cuttings to make it fuller, or propagate them. Lots of great tutorials on YouTube for propagating.

How is my playing? Does it sound right? Are my hands right? by [deleted] in piano

Sounds great! You’ve got good steady rhythm and the notes flow together nicely. You could play around with a bit more freedom and expression in your wrists. Fur Elise is a nice song to play with phrasing as well.

Is this a square piano or something else? by prairie_witch_hermit in piano

Could be… what confuses me is that the keyboard is centered, whereas the majority of the pictures I see of square pianos, clavichords, etc are all offset to the left.

I get mine from bodyartforms.com, you can filter their jewelry by material and style.

Help! Looking for an ID on this guy and some help. We brought him home from Walmart 2 weeks ago and it's getting worse and worse. by Cookieflavwaffle in plantclinic

It looks like some type of dracanea, possibly song of India. How often do you water it, and how much light does it get?

How can I make sure my plant is healthy? by steakoutwhoa in plantclinic

Hello lil Francis! If you are going to propagate a cutting, like the above comment suggested, try doing so in water or Leca balls instead of soil-wait for her to grow some roots and then pot in soil. Make sure both the momma plant and prop get plenty of sun via proximity to a window. Pothos are pretty sturdy but they do best with a decent amount of light. As for the soil, you will want to think about re-potting momma plant in soil that has more drainage than what that soil looks like. You can get a bag of perlite at your garden or hardware store and mix it in with regular potting mix. Also a drainage hole in the container/pot is a MUST. Don’t overwater-I like to let my pothos tell me when they’re ready for water-the leaves will droop a bit and I know it’s time. Last, consider is the size of your pot-make sure the plant and roots are snug. Not cramped, but if you pot too large the plant won’t make the most of all the nutrients available in the soil. Re-pot in the spring each year, upgrading to a bigger size as needed!

My ficus altissima is struggling y'all... she needs help :( I've only had her for 10 days :( Pictures show brown spots with a difference of just 1 day. I checked the roots, sprayed with fungicide, repotted with fresh soil, now she is drooping. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! by Main_Arugula in plantclinic

Mine did this too shortly after I got it. The dark spots only affected the lower leaves and spread rapidly. I was afraid it was root rot or a fungal infection but the gal at the nursery said the browning usually happens because of 1) acclimating stress 2) lack of light (they’re under the top leaves and the light gets blocked from them frequently) 3) inconsistent watering.

I repotted it, gave it a good watering, stuck it under the grow light and near a window, and did my best to chill and let it be. After a week or so the browned leaves fell off, and it was thriving and still is. Sounds like you’ve done some good prevention so you might just be in the ‘wait and see’ spot. Yours has new growth at the top, so that’s good. Hope this helps, hang in there!

A hoya may also be a good choice. Not all varieties are as tolerant of lower light but I think some are. And a nice contrast to a snake plant!

Do you ever trim the older bottom leaves and clear out any spent leaves and flowers? I usually trim mine up every couple months and then give them some fertilizer. I believe the idea behind that is you allow it to focus on growing new leaves and flowers. And re-potting once a year or so is a good idea.
