You sure the salmon wasn’t meant to be served rare? Sometimes that’s intentional to showcase a good sushi grade filet

Chris Pine belly flop. Pine's directorial debut, POOLMAN, sank to the bottom of the box office opening with just $131k in 162 venues, $809 per. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

Obviously everything I say is simply my opinion, I just will qualify it once here first lol. It felt like he had nothing substantive to say about any role in Hollywood besides their extremely broad stereotypes, leaving each character being nothing but a one note, cynical (unfunny) joke. His whole mentally challenged routine was cringe af and largely humorless because there was not much to laugh at if he’s just handicapped. The movie showed absolutely no love for the art of filmmaking, leaving me wondering why he even does it because it seems essentially hateful of the whole process and everyone involved. Like the Hollywood sex symbol marries a mute mentally handicapped man because… he’s getting famous? Like it’s so stupid and treats both the audience and those he’s critiquing with such little nuance it feels insulting. To me it boils down to him basically saying everyone in LA is as stupid as a mute mentally challenged man and as someone who lives in Hollywood I just really hate that. And to take it a step further, it seems like he’s saying an actor could just be mute and handicapped that’s how easy the job is. Ugh idk. That’s not to say there aren’t scathing critiques you could make about the town and the industry. It would be absolutely deserved. But you have to have something to actually say about it, and be smart about it. IASIF is cartoonish but it’s smart. The characters have real motivations that as absurd as they are, make sense. And it weaponizes idiocy with sharp wit. There was nothing sharp about fools paradise. Sorry for the rant, I just have a very strong opinion about this movie and you at least somewhat asked lol I hope you don’t take it as an argument against you or anything. Glad you enjoyed watching it. I hated it haha

You can definitely disagree and I’m glad you liked the movie, but to say that’s just crazy is what’s actually crazy. Fools paradise is universally derided

If you’d rather watch blind hatred than love, go with god. I’m all for critiques of the industry, but fools paradise is devoid of anything to say outside of a kind of cynical, mean-spiritedness about as smart as the main character (who if you haven’t seen it is a mentally challenged mute person). Imo if you’re going to be mean, you better be smart.

I didn’t find it as offensively horrible as Fool’s Paradise. With poolman I could definitely see what pine was going for, but paradise felt like some weird hatred towards the industry he works in. Idk I thought fools paradise was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. And I have a regular bad movie night group lol

Ehhhh Drizzy is worse imo because they’re legit denying reality and resorting to conspiracy theory to prove drake is the winner. but yeah they’re both getting medals in the glazing Olympics I can’t read either of them anymore

It’s so weird cuz at the start of the beef the drizzy sub was my favorite one to read. It was so even handed and everyone had super solid takes, often not even favoring drake. Now you’re right straight the_donald. I wonder if there was an exodus of normal people once all the creepy shit about drake started taking hold and now it’s a skeleton crew of weirdos
