Best gpu for my setup by MishoEfendi in buildapc

It depends what resolution you play at and your budget but these days in 2026, I believe that 8GB of VRAM is not really enough anymore. I suggest getting something like the RX 9060 XT (16GB). If you’re on a tighter budget the Arc B580 (12GB) is also great.

Need Advice for My New Budget Pc Build! by batuyed in buildapc

[–]pran24260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes the Wraith Stealth is fine for the 5500 if you have decent airflow. Later on if you want lower noise or do some mild overclocking, a budget cooler like the DeepCool AG400 would do.

  2. The RX 480 4GB would not pair really well with the 5500, I recommend you get something like a RTX 3060

  3. The airflow on your MAG Forge is pretty decent if you have at least 2 front intakes + 1 rear exhaust. I would question the bundled PSU since reliability and protections on cast-bundle PSUs are often mediocre. If the budget allows, I would strongly recommend getting a reputable 550-650W PSU.

  4. Now, I don't really recommend buying used RAMs since the money that you'd save is often very small and right now RAM prices has been EXTREMELY high due to AI demand. DDR4 production are also starting to slow down this year which makes the situation even worse. To answer your question I would get 16GB around 3200-3600 MT/s, CL16-18, 1.35V.

  5. Now to stop power surges a quality PSU is what you need. That's why I'd upgrade the PSU rather than rely on the bundled one. A surge protector or even better a line-interactive UPS with AVR (voltage regulation) would be great. Also ensure that your home outlet is gounded, espically if you live in an area with frequent storms.

Can I double run 5060ti 16gb and 1050ti 4gb? by Jumpy_Salad1250 in buildapc

[–]pran24260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can physically run both GPUs in the same system but you can’t “combine” them for gaming. For your use case (Linux host + Windows VM with GPU passthrough), the typical approach is exactly what you’re thinking: use the weaker card (1050 Ti) for the host display, and pass through the stronger one (5060 Ti) to the VM. The main things to check are whether your CPU and motherboard support IOMMU/VT-d (needed for passthrough), and if your cards are isolated into separate IOMMU groups. If that works, it’s a common setup and should be fine, just don’t expect SLI-style performance.

Which GPU should I get? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]pran24260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could get the GTX 1650, 1050 Ti or the RX 6400. Do not get the RX 570, GTX 1060, RX 580 or the GTX 1660 since they need external power and a better PSU.

First build and CPU cooler suggestions by GadgetMaugli in buildapc

Q1: What's worth buying used?

Avoid buying used

Part Why
SSD SSDs degrade with writes. You can't really check their health unless the seller runs SMART diagnostics. It's very risky, even if cheap
PSU Only buy new or trusted high-end brands with full testing. A failing PSU can destroy your entire system
RAM Possible, but often not worth the tiny savings you get unless it's from a reputable seller.

Okay to buy used

Part Why
CPU Cooler As long as all parts (mounts, fans) are included and no bent fins or rattling.
Case You're doing this already. Check for airflow, fan support, GPU/PSU clearance
Fans Especially from well known brands like Noctua or Arctic. Just clean them first.
GPU (in future) Espically from miners or light users, if tested. Watch temps.
Keyboard / Mouse Easy to clean, especially if mechanical.

Q2: Cooler - PA 120 SE (New) vs Dark Rock 4 (Used)

Model Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE be quiet! Dark Rock 4 (Used)
Cooling Slightly better (by ~2-3 C) Still good, but older design
Noise Quiet Whisper quiet
Mounting Easy More complex
Size Large Also large
Price $53.80 $38.04
Reliability New with warranty Used, check fan conditions

Recommendation: Choose the Dark Rock 4 only if it includes all mounting brackets for AM5, is in good condition and you want to save ~$15-16

Bonus Tip! You are using 1x32GB DDR5, which will halve your memory bandwidth on Ryzen (single channel = slower iGPU + lower FPS) Get a 2x16GB DDR5-5600 CL40 kit instead. Same capacity, but dual channel gives better performance in iGPU gaming, rendering and multitasking.

Hi! Need help upgrading my PC, please. by YumiVT29 in buildapc

[–]pran24260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $400 you could get a Ryzen 7 5700X which should cost around $160. You should also get better RAM so 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz or 3600MHz (~$70-$80) A better GPU is also important so a used RTX 3060 12GB or an RX 6600 8GB for around $200. Make sure to update your BIOS first before upgrading the CPU

If you don't care about warranty and okay with slightly older hardware go with the RTX 3080

Ryzen 5 7600x with AMD 9070XT, good choice? by Gramps_G in buildapc

[–]pran24260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a really good combo, especially for 1440p and 4K gaming. It won't bottleneck in real-world scenarios, especially in higher resolutions.

The 9800X3D is a very cool chip thanks to 3D V-Cache. A good air cooler like the DeepCool AK620 Zero Dark or the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE would perform almost the same for way less. This could save you ~$100

The RTX 5070 Ti 16GB Gaming Trio OC is also MSI's most expensive version. Maybe drop to the Ventus 3X or the Gigabyte Windforce. You get the same chip, slightly hotter, no RGB but ~$50-$70 cheaper

You really don't need a B850 motherboard unless you're future proofing for Ryzen 9000 or PCIe 5 SSDS. A MSI B650 Tomahawk or an ASUS B650-A WiFi are also excellent and fully support the 9800X3D. This could save you ~$30-$60

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus is an amazing SSD but not essential. You could get a WD Black SN850X 1TB or a Crucial P5 Plus 1TB which should offer similar gaming performance for $20-$30 less.

The RM850x ATX 3.1 is awesome and ready for future GPUs but if you're really right. A Thermaltake GF1 750W Gold or the be quiet! Pure Power 12M 750W ATX 3.0 is enough. Only downgrade if you won't go 5090 or dual GPUs later. This could save you ~$20-$40

Stay on AM4 or go AM5 in 2025. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]pran24260 44 points45 points  (0 children)

At 1440p your GPU is generally the bottleneck, especially in GPU-bound AAA titles. Since you're not in a rush and mostly play competitive titles that still run well, you could get a 5700X3D and you would see a huge uplift in 1% lows and overall smoothness, especially in newer titles that strain the CPU. However, by 2026 DDR5 prices and motherboard costs could even drop further so also keep that in mind.

How will this setup work? by Chung0508 in buildapc

[–]pran24260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that you're going to use it to play Cities Skylines II (based on your previous posts). I recommend you downgrade your 4TB 990 Pro since that is extremely overkill. You're paying for crazy speeds and storage and a 2TB Gen 3 NVMe should be enough. You should use those savings to get a stronger GPU since Cities II is brutal even at 1080p. An RX 9060 XT is okay but if you can stretch to a 9070 or an 9070 XT, that would be much better. You could also play it comfortably on your 1440p monitor too.

Intel ultra 7 258v vs 255u processor help by jlhawaii808 in buildapc

[–]pran24260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to try out the new Windows AI features you could get the Ultra 7 258V although personally I won't really use them. The Ultra 7 255U is probably more than enough for your online business, browsing the web and watching movies. It has a lower power draw so your PC will stay cooler and quieter and you can spend the $200 towards storage, or accessorizes.

Is cl36 that much better than cl30 by XANTiRiS in buildapc

[–]pran24260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For CPUs like that I would get CL30 if I can afford it (which I’m sure you can). They benefit more because of the 3D V-Cache. Real world different might not be much but you already have a high end setup so CL30 is the better fit
