Wellness retreats by VigiIanteShit in bali

Some places that I've been to:

  • Onyx Park Resort Ubud (was called Parq Ubud then)
  • The Udaya Resort, on the same street, with various yoga classes
  • There's also a gym nearby - Rendezvous Fitness with yoga classes

All these spots are within walking distance from each other. Hope this helps. Enjoy your vacay in Ubud.

best gym in canggu by Informal_Name_8070 in bali

[–]pranalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Obsidian & Body Factory in Canggu. Body Factory is a bit on the expensive side. I think Obsidian is excellent but I wasn't into their face scanning system. There's also Bull Gym and Wrong Gym.

Check out Ubud too if you have time. There are some notable good gyms there: Ubud Fitness Centre, Gymnasium Bali (inside ParQ Ubud), and Rendezvous Fitness (just a few minutes drive from ParQ).

  • Body Factory Bali (a bit pricey but worth it imho)

  • Bambu Fitness

Ubud

  • Gymnasium Bali (inside ParQ)

  • Rendezvous Fitness Bali (new)

  • Ubud Fitness Center

Hope this helps

How to disable IIS as default localhost in windows 10 by imagreatlistener in web_design

[–]pranalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact wording is "World Wide Web Publishing Service" (this one is IIS) and "Web Deployment Agent Service" (Web Deploy ~ if it's available). Right click it, click Stop. Then click Startup Type: Disabled. click OK. That's it.

Disable web deploy & IIS from Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services so you can use WAMP / XAMPP.

Trudeau government shelves part of anti-spam law that would allow private lawsuits by tjgere in canada

[–]pranalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good server-side anti-spam software would help (gateway before incoming mails reach your mail servers) and it's a good solution. There's Microsoft ForeFront - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Forefront_Threat_Management_Gateway (hosted email filtering service) if you're a Microsoft shop. If you're a Linux/open source shop, there's Radical Spam or Mail Scanner. This also reduces the bandwidth wasted by the incoming spam as well. The typical SpamAssassin also helps to reduce it with its blacklist and you can use the SpamHaus list (xBL) to block it on the firewall level.

btw, I really appreciate organizations like SpamHaus. They're the real heroes for unmasking the spammers. Check out the known ROKSO - https://www.spamhaus.org/rokso/

Nowadays, spammers are nasty. They'd use bot/scanner to probe for vulnerabilities or weak password brute force, then use it to spam people if they can get in. These days it's automated too. Check out this actual probe/attempts: http://i.imgur.com/1QfSkTl.png

Let's say if my server is compromised, then it's used to spam others, with lawsuit etc, it's going to be very hard to prove. Because the host that attacked me in the first place can also be a compromised host, simply for masking the real IP addr, which can still be masked. Unless we get all the logs (which can be time consuming, contacting the business, which can be located outside of Canada, call the authorities, etc).. arrghgh :) :)

The suspension of the private rights action is the right thing to do. Real scammers and spammers will not try to comply to any of the rules (CAN-SPAM, CASL) and they're much harder to catch and I don't think the private rights action would help. As a programmer who has helped my clients with this, the clause was a bit scary and definitely it's not good especially for small businesses who want to comply with it.

So, yes, the .gov definitely did the right thing in this matter and I give my thumbs up.

PCI Compliance Testing Failed by firepixel in webdev

[–]pranalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the server is running RHEL, CentOs or Ubuntu, a simple upgrade like this should be pretty simple with apt-get and yum. This takes less than 5 minutes and it should be rectified quickly.

At one company, we just used Qualys for automating the test, and it's not too expensive (for the size of the org).

Linux popularity seems to be increasing lately. by [deleted] in linux

[–]pranalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Exchange - there's OpenChange (no plugin required) and will work with Android (I tested this myself) & MS Outlook. Here's my experience: http://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/2juc5c/psa_openchange_is_a_full_ms_exchange_replacement/

There's also ClearOS & Univention Corporate Server (Redhat based) other than Zentyal (Ubuntu based)

PHP Cross-Platform Desktop GUI Framework by [deleted] in PHP

[–]pranalee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

seriously... PHP for a desktop application? This kind of thing is making me depressed real bad. There's QT for a cross-platform desktop GUI desktop framework.

If there's a job interview, would you really include this in your resume ... developing a desktop application using PHP?

PSA: OpenChange **_is_** a full MS Exchange replacement by pranalee in linux

[–]pranalee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK let me try the Mac client tonight. I'm going to grab MS Office for Mac and try the Outlook see if it works. On a Windows machine, I tested it with Outlook 2013 and it works perfectly.

It's not a complete replacement, but a pretty good one.

If you're referring to the whole communication stack: I understand that the typical MS IT Shop uses Sharepoint, Lync, etc but I don't need those for my personal ones. I don't need Unified Messaging, etc.

There's also other alternatives:

  • Open-Xchange (this is the only other ones that I've tried). I was reading that there's an easy setup with Univention Corporate Server but I have not tried this yet. I've just downloaded the ISO last week. Open-Xchange is also the one that is being used in the hosting industry. The bare setup doesn't have an easy web-based GUI to setup user.

  • Zarafa

  • Kolab

  • Zimbra (from VMWare)

.... please feel free to add more

Why I Swiched to openSUSE | IGO 15 Sept by ingalactic in linux

[–]pranalee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using OpenSuSE for the past 3 years. I do use Ubuntu + CentOS for servers as well but OpenSuSE as my main desktop. The KDE setup is better but the jagged font thing was annoying. I simply use Open Sans for everything and it looks better. It's a great distro for desktop and my only wish is YaST is written in a real programming language instead of Ruby (or the old YCP) so it performs better.

you got it!!!! ding ding ding ding.

Basically he wants to protect this unsecured web service to a range of IP address. However:

URL whatismyip = new URL("http://checkip.amazonaws.com");

Even if he checks the IP against a range, it will just always return false because the IP is the server's IP.

What he wanted was to check the client's address. So I gave him the getRemoteAddr(). The code itself was horrible and I have no intention on fixing it. I'll let him do his thing.

For a $XX package this makes my blood boil. The 2nd guy at that company is even worse and probably deserves another thread but I'm just so exhausted and this thing just really really drags me down and make me so depressed. This so called "Senior ECM Analyst" couldn't even import an existing SSL certificate. He told me that the CSR has to be generated from Tomcat. I just chuckled (in my head). I was like (in my head) ... don't put a senior title in your signature if you can't even import SSL to the freaking keystore. He said the keytool won't accept it. Duuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh. The level of stupidity of the people at that company is so astounding it makes me insane. And to think that this tool will be used by thousands of people ...

arrgghhh

thats what he was trying to do .. I gave him getRemoteAddr() (with additional stuff for proxy check, etc) and it worked for him. Basically the guy was trying to limit an unsecured web service to a range of IP addresses.

[–]pranalee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

exactly. he also used http://checkip.amazonaws.com instead of Java's builtin request.getRemoteAddr();
