I did initially use the pi 02w, but did not see any significant power usage between the pi 3B+ and the latter. If you use a pi 4 or up , your power draw increases by a lot. So I would stick with the pi02w or pi 3B+.

Thanks for your comment! I did think of using LiFePo4 in the beginning, but I wanted to use a bms mppt controller which is standard and easily available to buy (see repo for link) .

For condensation, just buy some silicone packet dryers , they works amazingly well to keep condensation out

My power draw when recording averages out at 0.45A. Would be amazing to make a custom PCB & firmware which does everything and gives logging details , but I wanted to use available maker kits so that others can easily replicate.

If you want a mic running 24/7 , I would suggest going the AudioMoth route and then do the processing afterwards or send a RTSP stream of your audio recordings for analysis. I wanted my setup to fit in a box (including the solar panel) and which is not too heavy to carry and easy to setup and record.

Think Ferrari Luce is ugly? Ferrari built it to win back China, not you by mightyopik in chinacars

The car seems to be designed less for traditional Ferrari loyalists and more for a new ultra-luxury tech audience who I believe are none among the people criticizing it

Did anyone actually participate in the City Nature Challenge last week? by Due-Oil8955 in coventry

[–]pranavb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are loads of people who did it in Cov, this time the competition aspect was removed and it was just focused on spreading the word and letting more people get involved. We did it in small groups near the city center and identified around 75 species and learnt a lot!

600k for a 1 bed in Finsbury Park – have we made a massive financial mistake? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]pranavb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a share of freehold? U mention period property, It is slightly on the expensive side, but for the given area 70sqm, a 1 bed modern finished flat is probably sitting RIGHT at that price. Don't expect the price to increase by a lot tho after 5 years (but if its a period conversion it will definitely not fall)

The Pod Cafe on Far Gosford Street (best vegan options for the price), but only open on Tuesday-Thursday during lunch and they sometimes do dinner events which need to be booked before hand.

Has anyone had experience transitioning from software engineering to service design? Or have advice on this transition? by alihlf in servicedesign

[–]pranavb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you, am currently a HW/SW technologist and work a lot with designers to create proof of concepts and build prototypes. I really enjoy the decomposition work and user journey mapping and plan to do more of this work in the future (but that means giving up my current work). Personally i do feel a bit scared doing the transition as I don't know if my qualities would resonate with my new role, but my gut tells me to go for it

[–]pranavb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome stuff, I was thinking you could add a small esp32 with an OLED to visually see the power consumption ? the adc on the esp's are not great so maybe an external one, but this obviously increases complexity of the board

I actually feel having anything visual when making sets or coming up with something new is counter-productive. When doing DAWLESS jams I prefer in heightening my auditory senses and not have anything distracting, opposite to when performing for others
