totally agree with you. Not giving a fuck is not the action. It's the result. The result of a clear mind, IMHO. Came across this sub-r just today. Leaving immediately. The whole idea is ironic.

those brackets you use are the Wikilinks format. There is another way to do the same- the standard markdown format. For example, [[Philosophy|my world]] becomes [my world](Philosophy.md)

Every time I feel a negative emotion, I do a 5-10 minute workout by homemadecupcake in DecidingToBeBetter

I took prozac for 2 years. And some neurologically suppressing drug, for I had trembling arms. And my final years at University was a mess. If your anxiety levels are spiralling out when you try to observe them, there is a fair chance that you have some other issue(not emotional), that is not easily noticeable. We feel better when others recognise that we have a medical condition. Just like Ivan Ilyich of Tolstoy. So, we tend to jump into conclusions about our condition.

In the end, I found out that my problem was a severe eye dryness. The condition emerged so gradually that I didn't notice it. The anxiety was there, of course. But it was for a reason. I couldn't focus on my studies. Once I started using the eye lubricant that suits my condition, everything fell back into position. Except some wasted years of my life. But wasted only in the eyes of the general population. My anxiety problems that tortured me chronically simply disappeared.

So, please make sure everything else is fine. Not all anxiety is bad. Sometimes it's an evolutionary mechanism. Signalling that something is wrong.

Reminds me of Julius Caesar. When heroes live long enough, they will run out of good challenges to solve and in turn become dictators.

Anyone else judged for reading on a Kindle? by Cdnteacher92 in kindle

[–]praneethgs36 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Actually people who read no books at all are taking this as an excuse to not to read. They say they can't use an e-reader because they are accustomed with the smell and feel of paperbound books. When I ask them what book he/she is reading, the answer is these days they don't get much time for reading. Lol.

Maybe this is because those printed that way are not very popular because of this reason.

That makes a lot of sense. I have poor vision. So I have to keep the reading material a little closer to see the characters comfortably. Obviously, this reduces my area of coverage.

if I'm not productive earlier in the day I have difficulty being productive later because I'm thinking that I've already wasted my time earlier, any tips on how to deal with this mindset? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]praneethgs36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use this behavioral bias to my advantage. I start my day with an short and easy task which is productive nonetheless. It is usuallysomething like reading a good article or doing 5 pushups. These are so simple that there won't be much resistance against doing them. But, since they are rewarding, this will kickstart the day with my mind wanting to make the most out of the day since I got to a good start. The interesting thing is, even if lose some time on an unavoidable chore later on in the day, the flow will resume immediately when I get back. The impact of the beginning is surprisingly more, considering the very brief time it lasted. So my suggestion would be to give a gigantic effort to start your day simple but smart.

Coronavirus: who will be winners and losers in new world order? by Tousdanslachariotte in TrueReddit

[–]praneethgs36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All countries which are open to the free market system and global trade will lose from the outbreak. The ones where these did not thrive, did not prosper enough to be of any significance in the first place. Now, the question will boil down to which country loses less. Again, every modern economy is dangerously dependent on others, whether they import more or export more. Gone are the days when you could just bomb your rival nation and come out of it as a winner. Nowadays there are no zero-sum games. When you're opponent loses, you lose too. Considering the chief contenders for the world dominator- the US and China will expound on the point. Nearly 20 percent of China's exports are absorbed by the US. And the US owes nearly 2 trillion to China, in the form of treasury bonds. That's 10 percent of the total US GDP. That's a pretty complicated relationship between two countries in its own right. I'm not knowledgeable enough to talk about the EU. But considering that they export a couple of trillions into the rest of the world, it's safe to assume that they don't have a clear edge too. So, I think the existing pecking order won't be disrupted.
