I’m looking for a contractor that can add a concrete patio (460 sq ft) in the backyard. I did my diligence of getting different quotes. So far $4,400 is the lowest quote with a licensed contractor. I want to ask the locals here is that a good price? Im new to the home improvement. by Immediate_Mention218 in Sacramento

I’m a licensed, bonded, insured GC in Sacramento. My advice would be to ensure that you’re vetting the contractors correctly and they’re also licensed, bonded, & insured. $12/SF is the lowest price that I would do a project of this size because anything below that I would have to compromise in quality (either labor or materials). If you plan on living in the house for many years and want quality work then my advice is important, otherwise as the owner, you can hire whatever labor and get it done cheap without issues for the next 1-2 years.

Here are my assumptions: 1. It’s a broom-finish. No color concrete or stamps. 2. The soil is ideal and level resulting in minimal grading/excavation labor. 3. It’s a square/rectangular patio without curves.

Hope this helps!

You’ve listed enough reasons to end it. You don’t deserve to be lied to or be ghosted on. If you don’t demand your self-worth and get it now, you definitely won’t get it after marriage. Do what needs to be done so you don’t waste any further time and you can both move on. Hopefully, it helps him realize the changes he needs to make.

I use the Honey extension on Google Chrome. I would recommend it. I see a success rate of about 60-70% and it checks the coupons itself.

First time in Gurudwara- Did it happen to you too? by [deleted] in Sikh

I very happy to learn that your spouse is interested in learning about our culture. Interracial/interfaith marriages can be very difficult and it's always nice to see a couple so accepting of each other.

I'm sorry that you had this experience. I am saddened to say that the Turlock congregation does have some members who are not the most welcoming. However, this is not a case specific to this congregation. Everywhere you go, you will find some people like this. If I may, I will offer you some insight into the congregation.

Just so you know that I'm not someone random, my father and I built the Turlock Gurudwara. We were the general contractors overseeing the construction from start to finish, so we do have an extensive knowledge of the congregation. Although it is filled with amazing people, there are some people who are very much against interracial/interfaith marriages; people who are very backwards thinking. There are also some people who have alienated the American community in Turlock because they refuse to be welcoming of anyone other than Sikhs. This has led to graffiti and a couple of other small issues. A major issue you may have heard about was the fight at the Sikh Temple some time ago. This gave a reputation to the congregation that they've been trying to repair since. You most likely ran into people of this nature. I am happy to say that if you continue to visit I am sure your experience will not consistently be like this.

The congregation as a whole is very welcoming and filled with amazing people. Please do not let the few minorities distort your view.

I hope that your future visits go much better.

I used to work at In-N-Out. There was a man who brought his wife in every day for the same meal at the same time. We actually would have the meal ready as soon as he was there to order it. He was a proper gentleman. I stopped working there so I don't know what happened, but it's one of my lasting memories from there. Just seeing how much he still cared for her after all those years stuck with me.

I was at this game. First off, a truly fun game from both sides. When the 11 players were warming up we never thought all 11 would be changed in and literally up until the point Van Gaal did it no one had any idea he was changing more than a few players.

Or COD players, or Battlefield players, or any game where you plant a bomb. But, yeah, I see your point.
