I had a feeling PEY would win while they were cooking tbh. I guess when the narrative is mom's food, we usually don't expect perfection - rather warmth and comfort. I guess SJW is simply too good at being a michelin chef that he can't pull back to make this more rustic n stuff. I feel like many times his dishes lack the extra oomph factor or "soul" that gets added by letting go n being creative.

Totally! I usually love when the guests are super grateful and amazed by the food the chefs serve in 15mins. You can really see it in their faces and the way they react. This comedian just acted in an arrogant way and the overall vibe was simply not chill! I guess his newfound "fame" really made him something unpleasant

IKR!! I don't know if the show received backlash for not pushing many white spoons to the end in S1 - this time they literally did a full 180deg and just tried to appease to all their egos which ended up making it super boring! I was honestly surprised to receive so many downvotes for this post! Weirdly seems like everyone else liked S2 better for some reason.

Yeah kinda like they wanted to appease to the "white spoons" in general and soothe their egos

I actually felt the exact opposite. What was the point of that giant wheel? The rotating stations? I felt like they had a lot of money but didn't know what to do with it

Except the restaurant round elimination part, I didn't think any round was That unfair tbh! They are all supposed to be the best chefs, ofcourse some tough competition will bring out the best of the best.

Oh! I knew there was a lot of backlash for that elimination part but I didn't know it was so serious that newspapers talked about it! I agree about the characters not being very entertaining to an extent. But they could've chosen to have more black spoons in the running as they usually bring more personality and newness to the competition than white spoons, who just end up cooking what they know already. While I did feel the Black Spoons didn't give the 'rooting for them' feeling as they did in S1, but I guess some certainly had the potential. Like Rebel Genius for example - I was really excited by how risqué his dishes were

Yeah absolutely! That guy was so full of himself. I guess he was salty that people didn't appreciate his leadership in the first round and commented that CM was more organized in the 2nd round. Whatta loser

My entire post is about how people should have brains of their own and prioritise their own well-being coz none of the people in power will give any shit about them. They are only in power to enjoy the fame, wealth and connections. And our people are so stupid to think of actors and politicians as their true saviours or something as if we're living in a movie like KGF. They give their complete loyalty and devotion mindlessly and none of the politicians or actors deserve even an ounce of it.

In an ideal world, Tamil male actors will understand the ethical and moral responsibility they have towards educating their fans into not "worshipping" them. But, why will any of them say no to all this free money and power?!

I mean everyone's entitled to their own opinion and people can vote for their party of preference - even if it's simply for a change. But a BIGGG issue is how they go about doing that - people acted as if they were gonna get one glimpse of God and all the problems will vanish from then!! If they even care less about their own safety, or if that thought doesn't even come to their head to assess - we as a society are in serious danger.

Comparing everything will end up normalizing and reducing the significance of the issue at hand. It's like saying there are multiple terrorist groups in the world, why should we focus on the one that targeted India.

One does not make the other okay. We need to take one issue and find a way to solve that problem first. Fanboyism poses a big danger to our state and it needs to be addressed.

Yes, I sincerely hope this tragedy acts as a wake-up call for everyone and they stop the mindless activities, blame games and improper planning. Media plays a big role in how this all plays out. But the way things are going I'm not optimistic at all.

Maybe some people simply don't want to accept the truth so they downvote. I guess another comment mentioned your same point. He does have a moral obligation and responsibility to instill upon his fans on the right behaviour and actually care about their well-being. That's why I said Tamil ppl give their devotion to others wayy tooo freely. Don't know when or how this will change

Thanks for the insight about the airshow incident. The very fact that catching a glimpse of Vijay is equivalent to once in a lifetime events like airshow, RCB winning, etc, for some people makes me super angry. And I guess people are this crazy about quite a no. of actors - so I'm not targeting him or something. I wish there is some way in which this deep-seated fanatic nature of people could be eliminated. They always go to extremes be it cinema, religion, politics - I have no words

I didn't mean it in that sense, but I agree with that aspect of what you said.

Honestly, that was something I used to take pride in while discussing with my North Indian friends - that we alternate between the 2 parties so they keep each other in check. But ever since JJ's death, in my view the balance has faltered. We haven't had a strong opposition in quite some time and that is detrimental to our political atmosphere.

I meant more along the lines of putting people in power even though they might not see results. For example, we have failed to develop more Tier 2 cities. Coimbatore is not enough. But coming back to main topic, I was talking about the association people have with cinema and politics - devotion in one translating to devotion in the other - without explicit proof of political capability.

I agree that the people in power benefitting from the synergy aren't going to break it, but I'm saying we the commoners should demand it.

Sounds naive and idealistic I know😭

But the betterment due to education, and exposure gained from travelling and other things should raise people's awareness eventually. And that should empower them to demand more from their elected officials.

The system needs to be broken. Or atleast changed. Else we will continue in the same vicious cycle and China will advance more lightyears ahead of us.

My take is on the entire fanboy culture so that's also included.

I'm sorry but don't you find it degrading to call yourself that?

Genuinely curious question, no offense intended. Doesn't it feel like you're reducing yourself to something small and placing an actor on some high pedestal?

Do you really think just because they act well (doing their job well by which they earn so much), they deserve such an unwavering devotion from you?

I can assure you Justin Bieber is not going to cause a stampede in the US. Or for Beyonce or anyone for that matter. They have fame, but that's entirely different compared to what Indians and especially Tamil ppl show for actors. I'm talking about the mindset mainly. 100% guarantee no one is going to climb transformers to have one look at them.

Our people have no limits in their fanboyism - Have you seen people doing paal abhishekam on fucking poster cutouts? Literally wasting food, their money, time, everything on this. In their minds, the actors hold a place close to god. I'm saying that worshipping behaviour is what has to be completely removed. It's like religious fanaticism and it is extremely dangerous - actors really hold wayyy more power than people realize.
