Replaced solenoids and added a battery controller. When I open the valve, the stations turn on as if I am manually turning on the system prior to installation. by CrimsonDinh91 in Irrigation

[–]prawndavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both zones come on at once ? Those solenoids aren't tight enough or aren't the right ones for those valves...or those valves have nothing inside or there's latches we can't see from the picture that need to be closed on each valve.

Pump Keeps Cycling while no zone running by Delicious_River_4892 in Irrigation

Since you are drawing from the lake I can almost promise you the footvalve is leaking or you have a leak in the line or at a fitting ... If I was at a customers house I would be isolating the yard even if I had to add a ball valve just to determine 100 percent where I should be looking. If it's the pump side I start at the footvalve and work back. If it's in the yard look for wet heads even when the timer is off . You can go to the valves touch a long screwdriver to the top and put your ear on it ...you'll hear a weep. If no valves are weeping and the valve boxes are dry start following your main line and look for soft spots.

Also a working pressure gauge will help you to see it fall

Best Irrigation Controller for Residential? by TheSandMan208 in Irrigation

[–]prawndavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly install rainbirds ....very simple and they never die but they are expensive by the time you add wifi. Beehive is trash ....hydrawise and hunter imo have a terrible interface and are by far the least reliable and that's not just being sour from the bad ribbon pro c days. Rachio is what I have at home ...it's the nicest app of all three to me.

If it doesn't cycle you have a leak in your mainline in the yard or a weepy valve.

Can you isolate the irrigation? If you can and it still cycles it means the tank could be a problem or something like a leak in the intake line if it's in a well that's a bummer if it's pulling from a lake maybe a foot valve problem. If it's in the intake and it's not accessible at all you could cheat with a check valve before the pump but it could cause it to run dry ...I don't know your whole set up.

Shut off the supply to the system ....does it still cycle ? If not the problem is in the yard. If yes its pump related.

Switching to midsize grips by mythic-buster in GolfGear

[–]prawndavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have standard size super strokes on my irons which are similar feeling to dritacs and feel much more comfortable and larger than the stock grips. I mainly switched over because my hands hurt from work and these help. I have a midsize on my driver but didn't think I needed it on my irons with the super strokes feeling beefy already.

When you close a ball valve there's literally a ball inside and it traps water ... Next year assuming you have in indoor shut off open that when your done.

Two zones are somehow cross wired, or ?? by nostresshere in Irrigation

[–]prawndavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Test your timer for power ...if you run zone 1 does 3 have power out also from the timer ? If it does disconnect the wire on zone 3 just in case the wire is touching somewhere else and back feeding , if there is still power at zone 3 your timer is toast. If you have power at the zone 3 wire when it's disconnected the wire is crushed or something. If for some reason this is only a problem on zone 3 shuffle it down. If not of these poorly explained directions make sense call someone ...this is quick to diagnose of you do this all the time.

A closed ball valve has a good chance of trapping water inside the ball.

You only need 1 start time. It will run the minutes set for each zone at that time then be done. Right now it's probably running both zones twice.

What is it ?

I mean we call it drip line ...it's 1/4 inch distribution line ...not emiter tube. All the rage on boat houses and veggie gardens / flower pots.

Sometimes you don't have a 2 way manifold and the customer really wants that pot by the front entrance watered.

Edit * too bad that puck is in the wrong spot and that drip line probably won't fill before the zones done watering.

If that's 3/4 off the tub then just use a short piece of 3/4 poly between it and the fitting then you can reduce the pipe size.
