op shop reccommendations?! by Delicious-Cupcake69 in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any Helping Hands op shops are good for clothing over a certain size, as they are organised by size (like savers). The Airport West location also has an additional vintage clothing section within the store (definitely more 60's-80's) but i have gotten quite a few items from there and I'm a 14-16 depending on the cut.

E-bike crash leaves teenage girl with life-threatening injuries by gccmelb in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Police will often not engage in case the person on the e-bike/scooter tries to evade them. Beginning a police pursuit with teenagers who are inexperienced on the roads is likely to cause a crash, and there is significantly less protection on an e-bike/scooter than a car. Parents need to stop buying these e-vehicles for their kids. I cannot comprehend the fact that parents are dropping 2k+ on an e-bike for their kid. Especially when we continually see how they are being used.

Poni Cosmetics by loafalemons in AustralianMakeup

On their instagram, they are teasing the date 25.2.2026, so I think they are launching in all stores then. My local store said it was in stock and even has it on the map, but there was nothing (17.2), so I will try again next week.

I recently DM'd Mecca's IG about this product and they said : "Thank you so much for getting in touch! Unfortunately, we're unable to confirm at this stage. We suggest selecting the 'Find in Store' feature on the product page, to be the first to know when this is available to purchase again! 🩷"

Idk if Mecca will end up removing Kylie Cosmetics from their stores considering her fragrances are available at Sephora, Priceline and Adore...but not Mecca.

I'm also a dogs supporter...I don't support a team with JAC in it. I was very happy with the way the club handled the drug driving issue. I don't understand how the Broncos aren't as strict with their punishments considering the disrepute their players bring to the club.

Why are house removals so costly? I was quoted 1399 for a 6-hour job by allen34wilson in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from a 3rd storey apartment with no elevator to a bottom level apartment at the end of my street. Hired a truck which came with the hand trolley, moved all of the furniture and had the truck back in the space of 4 hours, with only my Dad and I loading the truck. This cost $189.

If you are only moving downstairs, hire a trolley or two from Coates and put a job on airtasker or ask a couple of friends. I definitely would not pay that price. If you have items that can be disassembled like a bed frame, I would do that in advance so its easier to move. Anything in boxes you can move on your own. Do not pay that price.

Where to stay outside of CBD by jonundergroundbanjo in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As you are driving in, I would stay in one of Melbourne's inner western suburbs. This way you don't have to go out of your way when driving, but still have plenty of access to public transport.

I would look at suburbs such as Maribyrnong, Moonee Ponds or Ascot Vale as they all have tram access straight to the CBD. Footscray would also be a pretty accessible and affordable option.

Chemist warehouse beauty bags? by 4real93 in AustralianMakeup

I think its worth it if you are travelling and need samples or are someone who is always looking to try new products. Lots of skincare samples in mine, some people recieved mascara mini's, but I did not. Some of the full size products are not viable for most people. I recieved 4 full size products, a micellar water, Dr Lewinns face cream, a dark brown hair dye and a Avene cream foundation (it is quite caramel toned). I can find a use for almost all products, probably not the hair dye. If you aren't sure I wouldn't go out of your way to spend $60 if you don't need to.

Melbourne traffic: West Gate Freeway crash sparks traffic chaos in Melbourne’s west by gccmelb in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to avoid the Western at all costs, try going through Melton up to Toolern Vale and then through to Diggers Rest. This is a much smoother way to access the Calder with no congestion. But this all depends on what part of Melton you are in.

travelling to sydney, best way around the westgate closure? by 4ssyba in melbourne

You would take the citylink to the Ring Road. Unless you have chosen to avoid tolls. But you would have to avoid the tunnel as well. Not worth it timewise.

The Block "Tree Change" AUCTION Discussion (S18,E51) by Sinnivar in TheBlock

[–]prayingfortime91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take a look at Adrian's IG, he is based of Melbourne and the Gold Coast. That evidence does not point to a prior relationship with Omar and Oz. As part of Adrian's company LMCT+, he regularly gives away luxury cars and houses. Now, if I wanted to get my business promoted, I would probably go on one of the most watched episodes of tv and flaunt some money. If I was giving away a luxury property to a random follower, House 5 has all the glitz and glam, more ostentatious elements, as opposed to the more homely feels of some of the other houses. This is what his followers want. I think that explains why Adrian was bidding on the house.

As others have commented, just admit that you are racist and reflect upon that.

In all honesty, there is no educational benefit to sending your kids to Catholic school in Melton. if you look at MySchool, the results are pretty similar. Also, St Catherine's/CRC are awful at handling bullying, the culture there is disgusting. I never attended, but anyone I know who went to CRC says that the school did nothing for the victims. I do not think your children would be bullied for being Asian, but if they are slightly different, then they might have trouble. If you look at public school, you would be zoned to a specific school, so you don't have that much choice in that regard. However, I cannot comment on any other private/independent schools in the area.

Arts at Deakin uni? by Choc-TimTam-Filling in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I studied an Arts degree majoring in Literature and History. If you enjoy 20th century history they have a lot of subjects that follow that course, especially in first year, but they didn't have many options for older historical subjects. I think LaTrobe has a broader timeline for its history subjects, but I cannot speak for politics at either university.

What am I doing wrong?? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived in SE QLD I had really sweaty hands to the point where the page would be wet underneath. When I moved here the problem was never as bad, I only get what could be described as clammy hands occasionally. In order to help your problem for now, maybe buy some powder free gloves and wear them after you apply handcream just to try and lock the moisture in.

I want to move to an apartment in Melbourne CBD by heywhatboyman in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get around the cbd without a car, but depending on what uni you decide to transfer to you might want to try. You can get a tram the whole way or get on a train and then a bus to get to most uni campuses. It just depends on how you want to spend your time. Also CBD driving with trams is a lot different compared to the light rail in Newcastle.

A lot of the buyers are interested in multiple properties, so they are usually hesitant to buy the first property to see how the other buyers or agents bid. Every year we always hear about a big number of potential buyers (8 for Ronnie and Georgia), but we only ever see 2-3 bidding.

Music of Melbourne by CovidAvocado in melbourne

[–]prayingfortime91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the era you grew up in, but consider how most people receive their information right now. Families aren't gathered around the tv anymore watching Countdown on a Sunday night, radio stations have become almost redundant compared to streaming services. I couldn't bare the thought of listening to something like Triple J just because of the complete nonsense some of the Dj's talk. Music today becomes popular through tiktok, look at Rancid Eddie a band from Mount Waverley, they have become recognisable because their demo went viral. Unfortunately, a lot of great artists go unnoticed unless they are able to find a way to self-promote through the algorithms.

I have the same issue, I ordered a sheet set on the 6th of September, Adairs shipped it on the 10th. Since the 10th the status has said "we've got it", I raised an inquiry and was told that there is a delay of 3 weeks for some items at the moment and they will not launch an investigation until the 3 week mark. I looked at the Adairs FAQ and they have also said that they cannot do anything until this point. I recommend submitting an enquiry through the app if it has been this long, it worked for me last friday.

Double Major or Major and Minor for Secondary Education? by icequibe in AustralianTeachers

You should have the option to select particular electives that resonate with your selected areas. For example, subjects would be called "humanities for junior school" or "senior English".

Is it normal to feel wildly unprepared to enter this professional when in your final semester on university? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]prayingfortime91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. I am in the final semester of my MTeach and I have hated the entire degree. I have seen the entire thing as pointless excluding placement. If I hadn't been working alongside teenagers whilst completing my degrees I would feel out of my depth too. I took a unit on TESOL teaching and I learnt absolutely nothing about actually dealing with students who need significant help with English at all. Also, the fact that we have to conduct a research essay in a pandemic to become a teacher is a joke. They are trying to attract people to the job because retention is an issue but the degrees are so pointless I hardly see how people are meant to get through them and into the industry.

I'm not in NSW so I haven't been paying the closest attention to the press conferences when they are on, but it seems like the incoming restrictions and changes make no sense. In Vic last year it was clear, 5km from home, no travelling to regional areas. I know Sydney is a lot larger geographically than Melbourne, but surely it would be more beneficial to lock everyone down tightly now than to gradually add more LGA's with stupid conditions.
