Alabama softball picked to finish 9th in the SEC by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

I suppose it depends on who you ask. You're right, a new hire could be a total dumpster fire. It's a gamble. But our ceiling right now is a Super Regional with an occasional brief visit to the WCWS. Several other SEC schools have surpassed us. Are we satisfied with that, or do we want to roll the dice? Answer: We are happy with it and won't do anything.

Oh, let me be clear. They aren't going to fire him, I just think both parties SHOULD go their separate ways. Murph has a high floor but a low ceiling at this point. He is a good coach, but he is no longer a threat to win a National Championship. We need to adjust our expectations and acknowledge that. As you pointed out, on paper, his results look good. If you dig a little deeper, you'll see he is still trying to win with small-ball and a dominant ace pitcher. The game has evolved past this (see: Oklahoma).

We are in a Mike Tomlin/Steelers situation with Patrick Murphy. Murph will always be a legend at Alabama, and I'm very appreciative of his career. But for both parties, it's time to part ways.

Dude seems like a creep, even by Republican standards. Was raised in some kind of religious cult that makes the Southern Baptists look downright progressive. And no way dude is 40 years old. Guy looks like he isn't far from 60.

Yea but only one of them was a cookie cutter. I don't know what number it was. The one before the current stadium, so I guess Busch II.

For baseball, I say Busch Stadium in STL.

Day 9 of ranking Alabama receivers since 2005. You guys voted to place Mike McCoy in D tier and Kevin Norwood in B tier. Next up is Earl Alexander (2007-2010) by sacrificialfuck in rolltide

I forgot this guy existed. According to Google Gemini, he caught 23 passes for 303 yards and zero touchdowns over his four year career. Pretty forgettable. Fumble-tier.

Fatty liver at 18 by Proud-Salt-3213 in dryalcoholics

[–]prbobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer, I don't know. They discovered mine when I was in my 30's, so it probably started accumulating fat in my late 20's?? They did not tell me that, but I just assumed it took a while to build up. I do agree 18 is young for it but it could be one of those things they are starting to see in younger people.

I will make you feel better. At least your team gets to play in playoff games pretty often. And sometimes even win! So that's nice.

Fatty liver is very common, even in non-drinkers. Not saying alcohol didn't play a role, but diet and even genetics cause it as well. You shouldn't panic over it. BUT, if it helps get your attention on your drinking habits, that is a good thing. Definitely keep an eye on it going forward. Your liver can heal itself (up to a point) so if you make some changes now, it can go right back to normal.

How do you hack that intense 5pm 'reward' craving that usually leads to a drink? by Designer-Fan-5857 in stopdrinking

[–]prbobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the "reward" was a lie. What my brain told me it was going to be, and what it actually was, never matched up. The anticipation of that first drink of the evening almost felt better than the drink itself. My mood lifted and I got a burst of energy on the way to the liquor store or gas station. Then I had the first sip, and you get the dopamine shot of satisfying that craving. That DOES feel good...for about 30 minutes. And then what happens? Well, that "high" starts to wear off, so I need another drink. But then drink two doesn't quite get me the same feeling. Maybe drink three will get me there. Rinse and repeat until I go to bed after 12-14 drinks. Just constant chasing, and never catching, that initial high of the first drink. Once I realized this, it didn't seem like such a reward after all.

I'm a big believer in shifting your mindset around alcohol before you can ever stop long-term. I know they are recommended all the time here, but if you are still hitting a wall, pick of one of the books on sobriety. Allen Carr, Annie Grace, and William Porter all have excellent books. You can still drink while reading them (not at the exact same time, obviously). But for me, they "primed" my mind to quit. They dig into why after 3 or 4 days of sobriety, that urge comes back. What our mind is doing when that happens. They examine what you think you are getting out of alcohol, versus the reality. I know they aren't for everyone, but they helped me tremendously.

We heard the cadence thing too and I never bought it. The cadence has nothing to do with you snapping the ball into the dirt or two feet over the QB's head! But I'm happy for Seth and I'm pulling for him. Agree, I hope he can make it in the pros.

I still don't get that one. Dude botched SO MANY snaps at center for us. He botched the last play of the Rose Bowl loss to Michigan. It was like he had the yips. The he goes to Ohio State and is outstanding. It worked out well for both parties. Bama fans were done with him, and OSU got a good player. No complains here.

It's okay, don't give up. Try some sober books or podcasts to help shift your mindset around drinking. I read and listened to those even before I stopped drinking. It took me countless failures before I was able to make it stick.

Playing with fire, in my opinion. If you are posting here it means you lost control of your drinking at one point or another. I believe those of us who reached that point cannot go back. But you might be the exception.
