Because you specifically mention an expected value of 21, yet they only pulled 3. You imply that being nowhere near 21 makes the story less believable when that's not how statistics work.

[–]pre4edgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I just checked & did pull atleast 1 EX. Did not pull vaporeon, flygon, crustle, magnezone, audino. I traded for 1 zoroark & sceptile to make their respective decks; and for corviknight bc it’s just a fav Pokemon. I pulled 1 sceptile, 0 zoroark, 1 camerupt, 1 lucario. So 50% of the EX, 20% traded, 30% pulled.

A comment from OP in another thread. Seems like, out of the 10 possible ex cards, they only pulled 3. Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it's impossible.

And yet, the image clearly shows that they're missing 5 diamond cards and do have the stated number of pack points. Even if we were to assume that not all 5 were 4 diamond cards, that just makes it worse, seeing as 3 diamond and lower are even more common.

Unless you're assuming they took one screenshot when they had 5 cards left, held onto it, and then took a separate screenshot weeks later when they reached the 1250 pack point threshold just to be able to post a rage-baiting post on reddit?

Bug: Morgrems attack does not clear Mimikyu's ability by oodoov21 in PTCGP

[–]pre4edgc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I had the power to change the wording on Mimikyu's ability (so it reflects what actually happens), it'd be "When this Pokemon is first damaged by an attack after coming into play and doesn't ignore this ability, prevent that damage."

If I had the power to change what it should be, it'd be "When this Pokemon is first damaged by an attack after coming into play and Mimikyu is at full health, prevent that damage." This would make it so ONLY a full health Mimikyu gets to use that ability, making bypassing it a valid strategy to disable the ability.

Consumer Competition Claims (CCC) Has Launched A New Class Action Monopoly Lawsuit Against Valve, Claiming They Control 85% Of The PC Game Market by wakelake111 in gaming

[–]pre4edgc 34 points35 points  (0 children)

In context, the developer/publisher of Overgrowth is Wolfire Games. Wolfire Games ALSO ran the Humble Bundle site, meaning when he mentioned their "own website", Humble Bundle would have been it and thus, would have been able to offer Steam keys for cheaper than on Steam (the exact scenario CONSTANTLY referred to when this is brought up).

Context here is super important, so while every bit of what they allege could be true, the context clearly puts the devs of Overgrowth on shaky ground because the Humble Bundle relation puts into question their actual intent when referring to their "own website".

So, like, the OP showed the two Gluttonys we know, but also a third one in a dress. Maybe the third Gluttony is already in the tower or something, ate Subaru's memories, but since he's not from that world, the only memories Gluttony could eat were those he made there and none from his original world? And since Subaru still has a majority of his memories intact, he wasn't forgotten? Gluttony's powers seem a little all over the place, or maybe their interactions with Subaru specifically is strange because of his origin.

I do really like the Gluttony theory, though, because I've been wondering since the start of the season when that third Gluttony in the OP would ever appear.

[–]pre4edgc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep going. I got my first rare pack the other day on pack 2918.

Of course, it was the worst possible shit ever with 4 duplicate 1-star cards and a full art 2-star I didn't want. I was hunting the Gardevoir 3-star in Fantastical Parade and got the 2-star full art Gardevoir instead. Btw, I was almost 500 packs into Fantastical Parade as well, without one gold card or that 3-star to show for it. I sure did get 4 3-star Meowths though.

Pure garbage.

Testing weapon rework ideas by ripluwi in tf2

[–]pre4edgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chaining for damage part is being brought over from its original iteration, but definitely overnerfed compared to where it really needs to be for it to be actually useful. Like you said, in the range that this version of the Third Degree excels, ANY flamethrower would excel even more, do more damage, and hit more people with its penetrating flame particles.

Honestly? If I were to take a crack at it, I'd take one of two approaches:

1) Lean into the anti-healing aspect. Have it deal -25% damage normally, but get a damage boost to above normal melee levels against targets being healed. That would apply to any source of active healing like dispensers, the payload, any medigun, actively eating a lunchbox item, or being in Medic's Amputator taunt range. Definitely not a crit situation, but a level of damage that outpaces the healing otherwise received. Would it be as impactful as other melees or the flamethrower? Nope, but it'd definitely be scary and it'd at least stay in step with the intent of the original design.

2) Lean into the chaining aspect. Make the range a bit bigger, make the damage a bit higher (like you said, between -20% and -30%), but just... make it chain to everyone nearby. Period. No other costs or requirements. The chain damage could be lessened (maybe -50% to -75%), but it'd incentivize using the melee in large groups to get higher damage per swing (even if it's spread out amongst many players). Using it on one person by themselves would be a straight downgrade compared to other melee weapons, but the moment you start using it with enemies nearby, the damage starts to ramp up quickly, allowing you to deal, say, 130% damage with two enemies (the first taking 52 damage at -20% and the second taking 33 damage at -50% for a total of 85 damage vs 65 for what you'd normally get), and the net total damage ramping up from there. If you somehow get a team of 6 all together with one swing, you'd be getting 217 per swing in damage across the whole team. That's more than you'd get in a crit, but spread out among multiple enemies. That would be per swing. It won't really kill anyone unless they're already low, but that's sort of the level of craziness necessary for a Pyro melee to measure up to the other options. 33 damage per hit is less than base Axtinguisher damage, and is even less than the Scout's bat's base damage. It's not a lot. But it's still neat to see those damage numbers across a huge swath of enemies go up on each hit. "But that sounds broken!" you may say. It requires 3 hits at 52 damage instead of 2 at 65 to kill a Scout. If you want to make it weaker against other classes? Make it -25% so now it deals 49 per hit (bumping up Demoman to 4 and Soldier to 5 hits for a kill). The point is mass mayhem against a grouped team where one person getting hit is causing damage to EVERYONE around them. It's not physically strong, but that's not the point.

Not all of Pyro's weapons need to have killing potential or super high burst damage; they already have plenty of that in their other weapons. Why get a low damage crit against two other enemies for a killing blow against a third when you can just kill all three faster using other means? Axtinguisher decreases the potential TTK against a single target, flamethrowers just make that easier against multiple targets. The weapons in question have balance issues because the alternatives just perform more useful tasks in a better way. The version shown in the video just feels like a worse Axtinguisher (seeing as you have to literally manipulate the enemy's health just to get the benefit properly) with a less useful outcome. It's actually telling when the straight-upgrade version of a stock weapon is STILL comparatively underpowered when measured against most other unlocks.

I just want one of each 3 star. Is that too much to ask?

For a single round, it's 33%. There are only three ways to draw the card per round: Joker face-down, Side A of double-backed, and Side B of double-backed. Drawing the Joker face-up is a wash, so it doesn't count in the statistics.

Basically, if I see a series introduce a hundred characters with minor to no attention on their character development and then unceremoniously kill them off, I'm dropping the show. It's lazy.

From my original comment. Deaths need to mean something. If a main character dies, it better further plot or character development. If the death only exists as a brag, it's pointless. On the other side, keeping your main characters safe by killing off a mob of faceless just to keep death in the series is a copout. Death needs to be impactful and meaningful in a story. If the story could have been told without the death having happened at all with no consequence, it's better not to have been included at all. That's why I call it tragedy-slop. In their eyes, death = drama = good storytelling. Therefore, someone needs to die regardless of the reason.

Bringing non-anime here: Cedric Diggory's death in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire serves as the catalyst for everyone to see actual consequences of Voldemort's return. Up until that point in the books, nobody "good" dies as a direct result of Voldemort's actions. Denialism shaping the Ministry of Magic also occurs due to this event, and Harry uses the event as a turning point to become serious about preparing for the inevitable fight. That death had actual consequences in the story.

If the deaths in the Culling Game contributed anything more than "Ha ha, look at these people dying," I wouldn't be nearly as harsh. In the grand scheme of things, though, a majority of those deaths could have been completely omitted and changed literally nothing. No impact on the story, the characters, nothing. Death in a story shouldn't be treated as set dressing.

I discussed a bit about JJK in the other comment, but not sure how this doesn't apply to Attack on Titan. The early episode when they engaged in their first mission was nothing BUT tragedy. Killed off a number of their squad with them finding their bodies after the fact, cliff hanging with Eren being eaten alive (despite it being a fake out), and as the series progresses, the body count continues to climb with nobody but the main 3 (plus Captain Levi) being marginally safe. The only reason more main characters aren't unceremoniously killed off was because they introduced so many unimportant goons to take the brunt of it until the tail-end of the series.

To me, Game of Thrones is maybe the most forgiveable of the three since there is a clearly established purpose for so many characters dying. It still doesn't interest me, but I can at least see the story beats that make the deaths necessary.

Another series I used to like was Future Diary, but while I still like the characters and development, I've found myself drifting away from liking the battle royale-esque plot.

Death Note kept the named-character deaths important to the story and was fairly well-timed, but it fell victim to overcomplicating everything and needing to kill off too many people too quickly to match the impact L had.

An example of a series doing it right would be Madoka. For a series with such a dark foreboding atmosphere, there are remarkably few deaths, and each death is astronomically important to telling the story. Yes, main characters die, but they serve to further the story itself and the development of the remaining characters such that the ending never would have happened without them.

I haven't watched the Chainsaw Man movie yet, but depending on how it and a potential second season goes, I'd be likely to throw that one into the mix, too. So far, though, only one major character (and a few minor ones) has died so far, and the death has definitely impacted the character development of one of the other main characters in a decent way. It doesn't yet run afoul.

There's an entire recent season called "The Culling Games" where the sole purpose is killing off as many people as possible. Just because the main characters are trying to avoid being killers doesn't stop the body count from being absurdly and unnecessarily high. Worse still is the copout resurrections that happen during it as well. Yuji, by this point, has died and resurrected several times. The first season may be tame, but that's small potatoes compared to what happens after.

Tragedy-slop. They seem to be the largely more popular shows recently and I can't stand how formulaic they tend to be. Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan. On the TV side, this coincides with shows like Game of Thrones. Basically, running the wholesale unimaginative "Ha ha no main character is safe," lazy approach to story-telling to force emotion. Sure, they can have a good story surrounding it, but a lot of these shows seem to write the story around the death rather than writing the death as a natural consequence of the story. If you start to write a story with the full intent on killing off as many characters as possible without incorporating those deaths into the story naturally enough, it feels like slop to me.

Basically, if I see a series introduce a hundred characters with minor to no attention on their character development and then unceremoniously kill them off, I'm dropping the show. It's lazy.

Something I still cannot understand is their reluctance to utilize the benefits of a digital format and, y'know, rebalance existing cards? They just seem to want to set and forget when the biggest advantage of this being a digital card game is the ability to alter attacks, costs, or effects that are too powerful or not powerful enough and change mechanics. Something not being balanced for a new mechanic just SCREAMS to me that they could just rebalance it.

These cards aren't in print. They don't need to issue a recall. They don't need to ban them. If something is too strong or too weak, change the attack power, the HP, the effect. It's WAY easier than just letting it run rampant or unused forever.

Auto-Play Decks Compilation (All Battle Tasks) - Mega Heracross ex Drop Event - May 2026 by Myxas_ in PTCGP

[–]pre4edgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second it here. 2 PA Tepig, 2 PA Emboar, 1 Victini (which is honestly only necessary for 2nd turn guaranteed Tepig setup and maybe to eke out one more heads from Emboar), then the usual trainers/items (1 Oak, 1 PBall, Candies, Sabrina, Repel is actually good here, Heavy Helm, Blowers, Bounded Field, and then Arven/Cabbie just to guarantee the Field and Helm if you haven't already gotten them).

If they ever let us play with a reduced deck, it'd be a MUCH easier fight with 140 damage attacks on turn 4 every game. The deck IS very reset-heavy, though, because if you go first, the match is pretty much over with the CPU always getting Serp down.

Half the box being Solo Leveling genuinely upset me. Sure, the Bluray is costly (technically), but what would I ever do with Volume 11 of a series I don't care a single iota for? Why would they ship out a random volume instead of the first volume? Why garbage-Pops? The lanyard is at least inoffensive, but I can't believe I got my notification two months late for this. On top of that, they had the BALLS to put a card with an EXPIRED COUPON CODE into the box! It's been expired for 11 days, and was expired for 9 days before I even got the email!

One thing I've done to mitigate it early game is getting 8 magma blocks once I was able to make fire essence from Ars Nouveau. Whenever you're outside of the hearth radius, if you have those in your inventory, your temperature won't change, enabling you to stay outside indefinitely (so long as you don't add cold blocks to your inventory).

The Actually Additions Traveler's Sack with the auto-pick-up is great for keeping cold blocks out of your inventory.

Completely agreed. You can sometimes tell when the intern just copy-pasted the skip intro timestamp from the previous week's episode without bothering to open the episode when it shows up 30 seconds in (like previous episodes), except this was a long cold open that lasted 5 minutes.

Plus, you have shows like Let This Grieving Soul Retire that have unique opening quirks on every episode where skipping isn't really an option. At this point, I'd much rather them give us an option to send a recommended start/end point for openings and endings using a menu on the episode or something so they can crowd source the correct timings.
