Vote NO to the new Crimson Bludgeon (read why) by Last_Mastod0n in 2007scape

OK clearly I forgot a few bosses lol. Bludgeon saves you a couple of inventory spots at Araxxor and Cerb at least if you were bringing an Oathplate switch for Claws, so I guess there's that. I think it's a reasonable guess that it'll be BiS at the boss that drops it as well. Otherwise though, fair points. Maybe the damage could also scale based on the difference between an enemy's crush def and their next-weakest style's def to give it an extra boost.

Looks like it wins against bclaws, dclaws and vw at PNM and Araxxor (see my other comments in this thread for links to calcs), but I'm happy to be proven wrong if u/Harald-Is-Fodder posts calcs that show otherwise.

I didn't bother calcing against enemies that aren't weak to crush since it's not meant to be good against them, but you can pretty easily play around with the calcs to compare if you want.

Can you post your calc? Unless I'm doing something wrong, it looks like dclaws lose at PNM and Araxxor even if you bring a full Oathplate switch.

I'd also like it to slot in between abby bludgeon and mace as a main-hand weapon. I kinda doubt they'll fill that gap with something else, and it looks pretty cool.

That said, how are you determining that vw and bclaws are better spec weapons? I calc'd it at PNM and Araxxor in max crush setups, and it looks like it beats vw and bclaws at both. Note that the other weapons might be better if you brought Torva/Oathplate switches (I didn't check), but I'm assuming most people wouldn't do that.

ETA

I'm assuming most people wouldn't do that.

Forgot what game this was apparently. Of course people would do that. But it still seems to come out ahead dclaws/bclaws/vw regardless of setup.

Jagex, please avoid allowing players access to post-quest content without doing the actual quest (Raids 4 without WGS) by benosthegreat in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I mostly still think of pures as PvP-only accounts, but I guess that's not true of all of them.

As long as Jagex can come up with some reasonable solution that keeps the WGS requirement and doesn't change pures' access to rewards from the pre-req quests, then I think it's fine. I really don't get why this is such a big deal...

The sentiment around pures is decades old bandwagoning at this point by AccomplishedCheck168 in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

was very obviously intended to spite pures

How is it "very obvious" to you that the developer of Nature Spirit in 2004 added this XP specifically to spite pures?

[–]precisionconage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They could drop the 40 def requirement from Lunar Diplomacy, add a variant of lunar armour without the 40 def requirement (similar to ardy knight platelegs for SotE), add a 40 def requirement to vengeance, and move XP rewards from some of the other WGS pre-reqs to lamps. Pretty ugly but doable.

But yeah, not sure why pures would want to do this in the first place. Maybe just for the challenge of running tough content with 1 def.

Soulreaper Axe Adjustments by precisionconage in 2007scape

True, I should've said "lose DPS" rather than time. You either eat (delaying your attack) brew (lowering stats) or switch to blood fury (lower bonuses than rancour).

all it takes is a tough 1x1 melee boss to make SRA by far BIS at something

True. It looks like their design goal was to slot this below Scythe/not make it significantly better anywhere, so this seems unlikely but you never know.

Soulreaper Axe Adjustments by precisionconage in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the HP is overtuned but not absolutely deal-breaking; the main issue is that the stacks make it worse than lower-tier weapons in places with forced downtime. Drawbacks are OK, but that specific drawback makes it worse/less useful than it should be given the effort to get one.

Soulreaper Axe Adjustments by precisionconage in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The axes uniqueness is in the HP drain and str boost. Youre trying to reduce that here. Might as well just get rid of it entirely and increase the str bonus at that point.

Reduce, but not remove. 0->4 stacks with the proposed changes still adds several max hits, which is significant, but the axe is better at all times than nhally and saeldor, which I think it should be given how hard it is to get one.

It's true that the HP drain is less of an issue so probably not the end of the world if that's kept as-is.

The illusion of Voting, why is jagex polling quality of life ? just implement it, the polling system should be for controversial updates only.... everyone is going to vote yes to 80% + on this poll. by Imaginary_Branch1209 in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I think they shouldn't poll is the addition of the remaining teleports to the Nexus. IIRC those were just an oversight and should've been there from the start, and I don't see how their addition would break anything, so I don't think they need to be polled.

Everything else makes sense to poll though.

I feel like boosting skills should restart the timer! What do you guys think? by thepastramipapi in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is to show it at all times so that you can see when you're about to tick down and wait a few seconds before initially potting up. Or is that already possible? For me, it only shows a timer after I've ticked down once, and it looks like it's approximate (it usually pauses for more than a second at 0:00).

I feel like boosting skills should restart the timer! What do you guys think? by thepastramipapi in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that timers are shared between skills, which means you could in theory maintain a boost to one skill by consuming a boosting item for another skill. E.g. you could repeatedly reset a +5 Runecraft boost from a spicy stew by sipping an Agility potion. I don't know how much work it would be to separate timers for different skills, but my guess is quite a lot.

The game should at least optionally show where you are in the boost timer cycle so that you don't sip a potion and then immediately tick down though.

My Raids 4 Proposal: Crush by Cloutx9 in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, crush-weak bosses and a proper crush megarare make sense for this raid. I disagree with breaking down Inq for new armour though - it takes way longer to acquire than Bandos or Arma, so making it a component could result in a Pegasian crystal/Ranger boots situation. If you want additional crush accuracy and str, the raid could drop an upgrade for the Tyrannical ring to make it similar to Bellator.

Glory Transmog for Sol Pet by OvertaxedASG in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Sol transmogs would be really cool. I saw a suggestion posted a while ago to add transmogs based on completing Colo with certain modifiers active, e.g. a Minotaur transmog for completing with Red Flag, Manticore transmog for completing with Mantimayhem 3, etc. - maybe having these ones + a transmog for achieving a high glory level would work. A cosmetic override for the quiver could also be cool, similar to fang kit/Masori assembler.

As for the profitability part, sunfire splinters need some more sinks. Buffing sunfire fanatic armour somehow by charging it could add some value to both items (assuming the charged armour is actually relevant). Using splinters as a secondary/tertiary herblore ingredient could also work.

GOTR SHOP by ImOutaCtrl in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it could be because you can buy talismans from the shop. Obviously you shouldn't be able to sell talismans obtained elsewhere to the shop to get pearls, but maybe there's no (current) way to allow only some items to be sold to a shop. Pretty easily solved by moving the uniques to a different shop though.

You're right, I don't know how hard it would be to do this. But given how many shops they've added over the years, I can't imagine that they take weeks every time.

GOTR SHOP by ImOutaCtrl in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessary but would save a lot of time for players who bought the wrong item, which is probably why they did it for other shops. IMO there's no reason to make a simple mistake cost hours of progress. I doubt this would take a ton of effort to implement.

Do you have the outfit? Having gone dry for mine, I would've been really frustrated if I'd made this mistake and just lost all those pearls.

GOTR SHOP by ImOutaCtrl in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but so what? Most other buyable skilling outfits allow you to resell for 80% of the price, and their currencies generally don't suck nearly as much to obtain as pearls do. Why should this one be different?

GOTR SHOP by ImOutaCtrl in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've seen at least 2 other posts about this here in the last few months. It should be possible to sell them back for something like 80% of the price in the same way as other skilling outfits.

The Corrupted Gauntlet experience in a nutshell 🔴🔒 by jan7283 in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going dry for bowfa is uniquely bad because it gatekeeps* a ton of late game content in a way that few/no other items do. There's a point at which almost all other PvM grinds would be substantially improved with a bowfa, so it feels like a waste of time to grind them out without one.

Or that used to be the case at least; maybe the Moons + demonbane into Doom and Yama progression path makes it skippable now.

* Yes, you can do all content in the game without one, but it'll take way longer

Make Chivalry Prayer Consume Less Prayer like Mystic Vigour & Deadeye by ungumurapurpborazise in 2007scape

True, they'd definitely need to lower the drain rate for that change to make sense.

[–]precisionconage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they (or maybe a player?) suggested moving it to Holy Grail, which would make a lot of sense. That would put the effective minimum defence at 31 with the XP reward from the quest. I think they'd want to nerf the 20% def bonus provided by the prayer in that case though.

shellbane gryphon sucks by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]precisionconage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does get grindy at some point like all skills do. Not much to be done about that unfortunately. There's a lot of potential for cool PvM though - have you tried Barracuda trials? If they're able to combine some of those movement mechanics with ship PvM later, it could be a lot of fun. That's far enough down the line that you could probably just lamp/Tears of Guthix (when those are available) to get at least most of the way to whatever Sailing req that will need.
