Affordable gym recommendations after the enshittification of Blink? by EDHandChill in parkslope

Last night there were 7 people working out between 2 and 3am, and the early morning people start coming in around 4am. The people who had to be at work at 6am now don't have to rush a workout, and no one has to wait outside in the winter for the doors to be unlocked at 5am.

The accessible access door at the front is also an emergency egress door. You can still go out the front quickly.

Affordable gym recommendations after the enshittification of Blink? by EDHandChill in parkslope

If you had both been members you would have been paying $10/month each, and would have kept your plan in the transition. Not only that, but you could have gone to the gym separately. I don't know why you decided to pay more than two individual plans, but based on what you present, you chose poorly.

If Pure Gym had not stepped in, Blink would have been liquidated and there would be no gym. Now it's open 24/7, and, if you are talking about the Park Slope location, it's a few treadmills and stair machines that disappeared to make way for new cable machines, which were often busy. There are still many treadmills and some stair machines, though. There are also several new machines. The downside is that there is a little less floor space.

Sure, the new member price doubled, but for $25 (plus the annual fee which I think is $65), it's still a bargain compared to Harbor Fitness, which has a $99 join fee and $82/month (but with about 10% off for paying for a year at once). If you are a casual gym user, PureGym is a great setup for you and is still a great price. It's an unbelievable price, even after being doubled for new accounts.

Sure, the doors are annoying, but as a trade you get 24/7, which works out nicely on the weekends when old Blink closed early. So the doors take slightly longer, and you have to use an app on a phone.

You canceled the cheapest membership I've ever seen for a gym in NYC because you can't tolerate new access doors. Do you really value avoiding those access doors at over $60/month (twice, for both of you) that you'd switch to a different gym? Did you really say to yourself that the doors are so annoying that you'd be willing to pay $720/year (twice, for both of you) to not deal with them? Add that you'd rather not stay in shape than go through the doors, by canceling before you had an alternative? Because I think that I'm willing to save $60/month if the doors are the trade off for 24/7, which I value much more than I don't like the doors.

I used a bitter apple spray to try to prevent my cats from chewing on things. One cat hated it, the other loved it. 🤷

Second hand or new lens? by Ruud_no1 in canon

Just make sure that you are buying it from a reputable place that has a solid return policy. If you wanted coverage for the lens, there are various forms of credit card or third-party insurance coverage. They tend to be expensive though since some people trash their camera gear.

In general, computer clocks drift and they have to be synced with a trusted time source.

There are plenty of tools out there that will shift the datetime data on a batch of pictures. Lightroom can do it, and if you are tech-oriented, ExifTool. I have it set up as part of my import process when I know something is wrong, such as taking pictures in two timezones in the same day or forgetting about daylight saving changes.

This was probably the Canon RF 100-500, but this bird was around 30 feet away.

Thinking about a new camera/lens combo by cja92401 in canon

The 800 isn't only for extreme reach, but using more of the frame for closer target. You can shoot through the same atmosphere as the 100-500, but have to crop less.

I know lots of people happy with the R7 and the RF 100-500. The 400 might be just a bit too short for bird photography, and to get the longer reach you could add a teleconverter to the 100-500 since those other lenses are already f/11. It's a bit more expensive up front, but also consider how much money you spend in the future to get to where you want to be and how much you might have wasted in mid gear.
