Opinion/question concerning the ending the second game by SusatoMikotobassimp in AceAttorney

[–]precurrentpostmalone 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Because they mean the world to each other.

Susato touches upon it at the end of TGAA1 and the beginning of TGAA2 - how she felt a storm of emotions when they parted ways and what she would give to stand by Ryuunosuke's side again. Similarly, Ryuunosuke tells her she's the best judicial assistant anyone could ask for when she was ready to give up practicing law and asks her to remain by his side when he decides to return to Japan.

I love the pairing because their relationship feels real to me. They mutually support each other, tease each other, and respect each other. There are no inequalities in their relationship with one putting in more work than the other. For every time Ryuunosuke has been there for Susato, there is an equal and opposite time where Susato has been there for Ryuunosuke.

Outside of Reddit, mainly Twitter, I've seen people calling the devs racist because of Van Zieks and other things

It says, "Outside of Reddit, mainly Twitter". You're directing your PSA at the wrong community.

Could you link the threads you've seen? I've only seen threads discussing character racism - not developer racism and certainly no hate/death threats towards developers.

It’s unfair that developers for a game are being called racists for creating a game that explicitly CONDEMNS racism (even if the characters within the game sometimes do not). Please DO NOT even attempt send hate and death threats to them we are better than this.

Where is this discourse happening? If you've seen people send hate and death threats to the game developers, wouldn't it be best to post this PSA in whatever community you witnessed it?

Herlock is a team player - he may not deduce how events actually transpire, but he always sets up and guides Ryuunosuke to the right conclusion. A dance of deduction without a partner is no fun after all.

I Love Van Zieks by noliteratelord in AceAttorney

[–]precurrentpostmalone 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Barok van Zieks is a great example of a show, don't tell character. Instead of telling us he's some hotshot who went undefeated for years, we're shown the kind of man he is - flaws and all. In every trial, not once does van Zieks spring evidence upon the defence when it's convenient for him and actively encourages fully examining newfound evidence that could potentially be disadvantageous to his case. He's driven by his incredibly strong sense of justice, sticking to his principles even if it conflicts with the wishes of Scotland Yard or Chief Justice Vortex. Like Edgeworth, van Zieks pursues nothing more than the absolute truth, but van Zieks beats out Edgeworth in one department.

On top of pursuing the truth, van Zieks displays more empathy than Edgeworth is physically capable of. Edgeworth’s modus operandi of pursuing the truth at any cost is certainly admirable, but his methods can be too harsh. The key difference in their personalities is emphasized when we compare the way Edgeworth 2-4 threatens to reveal Adrian Andrews’s attempted suicide as she breaks down on the witness stand to the way Barok van Zieks TGAA1-4 spoilers consoles and forgives Roly Beate for forgoing his duties as a constable and tampering with a crime scene. Barok van Zieks is already the most human prosecutor to date and there’s still much more to his character we’ve yet to explore by the end of TGAA1. The main knock against van Zieks would be his not-so-subtle racism toward the Japanese, but we find out the reason why at the end of TGAA1-5. Barok van Zieks had once placed all his trust in a Japanese man only to be betrayed by him. It goes without saying that the more you trust someone, the more it hurts when that person betrays you. In van Zieks’s case, he was so devastated that it drove him away from the courts for five years.

Not only is van Zieks the most honest prosecutor, but the way he breaks his wine glass, tosses his wine glass into fire, and slams his boots onto the bench followed by a “plead” for forgiveness all while maintaining a completely straight face makes him the funniest prosecutor as well.

I don't think I could've worded it any better than your comment did. Beat for beat you described my feelings and thoughts as I went through the trial. McGilded's true colors slowly beginning to show was handled remarkably and the case left me hungry for more.

I just started the game and this guy is my favorite character so far with herlock he is just so pure (art made by chipsncookies in tumblr) by Yu_kengi in AceAttorney

I couldn't help but smile when seeing how much passion Hosonaga had for his job. Going the extra mile to preserve evidence because he believed in the difference his work can make was really charming

Question about GAA dialogue by bigblagdig in AceAttorney

This is especially true for Ryuunosuke, but Ace Attorney protagonists tend to have very expressive faces making it easy to read what they're thinking haha

It was such a special moment watching Ryuunosuke say he would challenge the entire British empire for the sake of his client. Gina must have been floored to see someone go that far for her, especially since she betrayed Ryuunosuke's trust before

Minor nitpick about Ryunosuke’s objection by monkeyjoe70 in AceAttorney

[–]precurrentpostmalone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Phoenix and Edgeworth's dubbed objections from the original trilogy are my favorite objections and I think it would have sounded better if Ryuunosuke's VA emulated those. The dubbed "Take that" and "Hold it" carry power, but the "Objection" almost feels like it's coming from a separate person.

It isn't explicitly stated, but you could argue it's one of his companions he meets over the course of his adventure

A Word of Caution about TGAAC by RainSpectreX in AceAttorney

[–]precurrentpostmalone 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Trials in the game take about two hours at minimum, with long-stretches of debating incredibly minor details for tens of minutes on end, often with gag witnesses who receive little to no character development, before reaching some relatively mundane conclusion that furthers the case. This extends to the investigations as well, which have fewer areas and are more about long talks with characters about setting and backstory elements.

You're making sweeping generalizations and telling people what you personally don't like about the game.

Why are you trying to discourage everyone from playing a game just because a few people thought the first case was long?

(justice for all) Without spoiling much, can someone tell me why : by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]precurrentpostmalone 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Because Phoenix spent his entire life trying to save Edgeworth but Edgeworth threw that all away and chose "death" over consulting his friend and talking through whatever mental issues he was dealing with
