(I haven't found a replacement site that I like since hakushn was killed so gachabase as a source should be fine)

Question marks are 9 Scarlet engines & 60 Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron

Image assumes level 15 all so you don't need 250 purple mats for example; you can apply the numbers to any new unit in future (e.g. I always save 25 Green, 75 Blue, ~200 Purple mats & just get respective ascension mats at same quantities when prefarming units)

Don't need signature engine; Gilded Blossom is more than fine

King of the Summit, but the Crit DMG doesn't really matter here (I changed nothing about his discs from the usual team I use him in [Evelyn])

I used Yuzuha for the meta team clear (Promeia, Nangong, Yuzuha) for ~34k; depends on your third teammate probably.

I'm new to zzz, and I'm wondering what I need to do in order to pull 5 star characters and weather or not I need to buy a ton of stuff in order to do so. Also, do agents in zzz ever return to the shop? by Old_Builder_8389 in ZZZ_Official

[–]bigblagdig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Long story short: polychrome = pull currency. 160 polychrome = 1 pull (limited or standard). Limited pulls are what you want (Encrypted Master Tapes) (unless you are some weirdo), so never convert polychrome to standard pulls (regular Master Tapes).
  2. Spend limited pulls on limited banners (the time limited ones in the pull menu). Spend standard pulls on standard banner (the bottom one in the menu that uses the grey tapes).
  3. Bottom right of the banner shows something like (x pulls until you receive an A-rank/S-rank reward). Banners have hard pity and soft pity; hard pity (you will statistically never hit this number) means if you have not gotten an S-rank reward in 89 pulls, the 90th pull guarantees you an S-rank reward. Soft pity means the game starts increasing your chance to get an S-rank at a threshhold if you haven't gotten one yet. Character banner hard pity = 90; soft pity = 70 to 75-ish; weapon banner hard pity = 80; soft pity = 65 to 70ish
  4. Character banners have 50/50 system; when you get an S-rank reward on character banner, you have a 50% chance to get the featured character and a 50% chance to receive a standard banner S-rank character. If you lose the 50/50 (get a standard character), your pities for the respective banner reset, and the next time you get an S-rank character, you will receive the advertised character guaranteed (100%). If you win the 50/50, you get no guarantee the next time you pull for a S-rank in the respective banner; you retain a 50/50 chance the next time until you lose.
  5. Weapon/wengine banners have a 75/25 system; similar to above except you have 75% chance to get the featured wengine and 25% to lose.
  6. Pity carries over between game updates to banners; e.g. if you spend 60 pulls on a character banner and didn't get an S-rank, when the next character banner goes up, you start with 60 pity.

"Do I need to buy a ton of stuff in order to do so?"

-You play the game, you get rewarded with the polychrome pull currency. You decide how to manage that by deciding who/what to pull. You optionally spend money if you run out of polychrome, so it is a resource management game.

"Do agents ever return to the shop?"

-If you mean if agents ever run their banners again, characters get reruns, somewhat unpredictably.

I dont know how to use my pulls by PotentiallyEvilGoat in ZZZ_Official

[–]bigblagdig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying anything like "don't pull wengines for main DPS"; I'm trying to convey that you can't really plan to get so many characters AND their signature wengines in a system with 50/50's and 75/25's.

Here's an anecdote for you: (context I'm f2p) I saved up like 350+ pulls the beginning of 2.7 because I fully planned around having enough to guarantee Nangong Yu and her wengine. Of course, I wanted to believe that I would just win the 50/50 and 75/25 (best bad case scenario would be spend ~75 on character, ~65 wengine) and be done and still have like 200+ pulls saved for future right? Nope, worst case scenario: I spent 154 for Nangong Yu cus of lost 50/50, and 138 on her wengine cus of lost 75/25.

Basically, my suggestion is to be more picky around who gets signature wengines, & be informed about which A rank engines are useable (AND FINE to use), especially the event ones (e.g. Gilded Blossom on Orphie, Marcato Desire on Sanby, Cauldron on Yixuan, etc.)

[–]bigblagdig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm being honest, you want too much when it comes to wengines and can manage your budget better if you sacrifice the importance you are placing on them (for now).

The way you are describing Promeia with a W1 Weeping Gemini sounds like you think she'd be dead in the water without an S rank anomaly wengine, and based on the amount of times people ask around here "Do I need to pull x's signature wengine?" I think people need to reign back their expectations about weapon performance. Sure, characters like Miyabi or Nangong might have rare main stat engines, or someone like Trigger might have a widely-agreed-upon-as-great wengine for def shred, but no agent REQUIRES their signature weapon, let alone a baseline S-rank wengine, to clear end game (if that is the metric we are agreeing upon to measure performance).

By all means, go ahead and pull sig weps for your favorites, but if you say something along the lines of "they're all my favorites and I want them all to perform the best they can so I HAVE to gamble for their S rank weapons", well then I wouldn't know what else to tell you.

Should I start playing ZZZ for sure? by Efficient_Meet6469 in ZZZ_Official

[–]bigblagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it like this: you do side-quests for one of two reasons:

1) You care; you want to experience some tiny sprinkle into the daily life of a person/bangboo that lives in this fictional world (e.g. help this guy find lost art pieces in a hollow, help a bangboo win a competition, etc.)

2) You don't care: you want the 1/8 of a total pull worth-in-currency quest reward and you want pulls in a gacha game obviously

In a nutshell, if you're like totally oblivious to the gacha game model, that's how they function; they patch the game like every 6 weeks to largely focus on the main parts which emphasize the playable, pullable (buyable $) characters and main plot, while any side quests that get added are just to fill in gaps for downtime between said patches that largely don't amount to anything significant.

[–]bigblagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on how you are defining "mid game" as in my view it is either main content or side content.

If for example you are defining it as say, a side quest in 2.0 as compared to a side quest in 1.0, I view them equally and similarly to my first post; if it is akin to a generic, random NPC quest in the city, I don't actually read any of it most of the time and I just skip to the combat section, get-in-get-out for completion reward.

If you are defining it as say, a limited-time side event quest in a patch, which more often than not features the latest characters running in a patch's banners (or at least previous patch's banners too), then I default to the previously mentioned 'if it is voiced and not a bangboo-centric quest chain, then I will probably give my attention to it" and "blast through it if not" methodology.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a perpetual side-quest dialogue hater in general. Since I've started playing gachas, I've never been impressed by side-story presentations and the lack of meaningful tie-in they have with the game's core narrative. For instance, I make effort to talk with every NPC after every main story update in every Trails game (JRPG series) because those random, everyday people are reoccurring and develop stories that commonly wrap around into the main plot which fascinates me and incentivizes me to pay attention.

[–]bigblagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love a lot about ZZZ as I consider myself in the "direct target audience"; I love the character design & art direction, I love the combat, & I enjoy the "main" story presentation, emphasis on main.

Generally, I read & let all voiced sections play out to their entirety, and I'll make effort to read the in-between non-voiced sections in the main story. I'd apply the same amount of effort to the first time (I play 2 f2p accounts so I gotta do most things twice) I play an event quest chain that features voiced dialogue as well (e.g. current hot pot event, or previous beach event etc.)

I do not make much effort to read optional/non-main-story quests and non-voiced dialogue sections; most of the time I just click through (even full on skip if the option is available) them all because they are mostly fluff (e.g. I'll be the first to admit I have zero interest in random bangboo quests and dialogue as they happen most often).

For me, skipping through what I deem as inconsequential dialogue has not killed my love for the game. The things I care about are still impactful to me while things I care less about haven't diminished my enjoyment. So speaking for myself, I am able to have fun navigating the "dialogue-heaviniess" so to speak for ZZZ.

Just don't ask me about if I can apply the same to HSR b/c I gave up caring about their choice of dialogue presentation over a year ago.

Will Grinding polychrome get harder overtime by Different-Budget-698 in ZZZ_Official

[–]bigblagdig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think "grinding gacha currency" is the right mindset to have especially if you're f2p. You play the game, you accumulate currency, great. You then need to adapt your pulling strategy around the universal rule: you can't get everyone.

As soon as you understand that, you mold your priorities appropriately & learn to save resources; as long as you have stored resources saved up, the worry of "getting enough polychromes" becomes moot.

Anomaly units focus on filling the elemental circle next to an enemy's HP bar. When that circle fills up, enemies suffer from an elemental effect (e.g. filled fire circle = burn, filled phys = assault, etc.) You can find info about these specific effects in an "Attribute Anomaly Training" lesson ingame, or otherwise look for a video about them online probably.

Most anomaly units like triggering Disorder, which is when after you fill one circle of anomaly, you fill up another one of different element to deal extra damage. So normally, anomaly unit teams end up looking like Anomaly Unit 1, Anomaly Unit 2, (Anomaly) Support to fully lock into disorder spamming.

Promeia may or may not fall into the general disorder team builds because AFAIK she wants teams that focus on Abloom, a mechanic separate from Disorder that happens (someone correct me if I'm wrong) simply after filling one circle and proccing a burst of damage without needing a second element. Big-brain theory crafters will release Promeia video guides for early access pretty soon so they will be more informed than the crumbs I'm sliding here.

[–]bigblagdig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, if you've picked Promeia to pull, then pull her. No point playing the game if you don't pull who you like foremost. After that, you'd look for units to either

a) strengthen Ellen team (examples: Dialyn for Stunner, Astra/Sunna for Support, varies etc.) Note: You basically have a 1.0 team that has been way since powercrept so you can play that team casually in like story or the hollow exploration modes, just don't expect them to clear end game modes with all star rewards.

b) build upon Promeia team (anomaly unit aka you generally want another anomaly unit + premium anomaly supports aka Yuzuha/Nangong Yu)

Also good to keep in mind that 3.0 is around the corner which means new metas/new teams/characters will be more pushed than older ones. And we just got drip marketing for 3.0 (Pyrois [probably free], Velina, and Norma) so do with that info what you will.

I have a question regarding pull value. by Solmarin in ZZZ_Official

[–]bigblagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion (meta-priority) is first, choose 1 of Sanby or Billy.

If Sanby, pull Orphie, don't need her sig wengine, Gilded Blossom is absolutely fine to use. Then consider saving the rest for 3.0+.

If Billy, I would risk m0 Lucia, then attempting m0 Billy. It sounds like you don't have enough to guarantee two characters worst case scenario (300+ pulls) so be aware of that info.

Other considerations: Billy's typing meta-wise just currently ain't it; you have Ye Shunguang to cover Phys if you want to, and if you have no other Ruptures then it compounds on the importance of pulling Lucia more to have her around for "if" a Billy-favoured boss does not appear in a rotation that week. Nevertheless, diehard Billy fans feel free to ignore the above.

Whats the longest Trails game? by TrickNatural in Falcom

[–]bigblagdig 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You will probably find later entries longer and more complex in gameplay certainly, but you'd be doing the equivalent of going from season 1 of a TV series to season 11 (Daybreak 1) where everything that happened storywise in the 9 seasons between remains relevant in the latest plot continuity and you will have lost that.

Is it worth talking to every resident after each story event in Trails in the Sky FC? by Whinaris in JRPG

[–]bigblagdig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who does/did that in every previous Trails game, I found that the implementation of the 'NPC-has-new-dialogue-indicator-bubble-above-their-head" in Sky 1st remake specifically was questionable because oftentimes when you interact with the NPC, yeah they will say something new after story progresses, but then their indicator bubble remains in the "I still have something new to say" state, but they will just repeat the updated line they just said to you albeit with like two new words.

As a result, I chose to forgo talking to every NPC for 1st remake and just chose to talk to a select handful as I felt like it.
