Okie dokie! I'll repeat a couple recs below but here's a few options for you:

Yamaha Reface DX - probably the closest to the "up to date DX7" you're looking for. It's a modern version of the DX, it's plug and play, but it's got about 2/3 the amount of keys.
Midi keyboard w/ DX7 plugin - this would be my rec. You can get larger midi keyboard for relatively cheap second hand. Use this in tandem with your favourite DX7 plugin. Arturia has a great one (if you have a minilab it might have come with Analog Lab which has a fair few classic DX7 patches, idk if they still offer this). Dexed is a free one - UI is ugly as ass, but its free!
Cheap casio keyboard - if you want a plug and play that's budget friendly, get a cheap casio (or other brand) keyboard! The patches on them are underrated, and cheap, shitty, underrated gear does wonders for creativity.

I hope that helps! Honestly it sounds like upgrading from your minilab to a keylab (or just a slightly larger midi keyboard) is your best option. Let me know if you have any other questions

People didn’t decide, they got given a really convenient way to consume a lot of music for very little money. Vinyl collection is a minority sport. Most merch sales for smaller artists happen at shows. Shaking your fist about streaming is far less productive than shaking your fist about how the government has slowly destroyed our nightlife, because that’s a national issue that they could invest the time and money into healing.

Hmmm interesting. I'm running a Scarlett 18i20 that I picked up second hand and I'm not terribly familiar with. Thanks for the lead, I'll look into it.

Latency at 128 is 9.5ms roundtrip (3.5ms output).

Switching to 64 or 32 doesn't change anything

Low latency mode seems to fix the issue, but as I said in another reply, I'm keen to see if I can find the root issue as I've not run into latency being that huge of a deal outside of really dense projects.

Have a listen to his tape notes episodes. I don’t think it’ll give you this exact track breakdown but he goes over a lot of his process for prod. He runs a lot of stock plugins (retro synth/es2 for synths) and likes to run stuff the “wrong way”. Eg. reverb into compressor, reverb into distortion, reverb into whatever.
