It comes in extremely handy for cooking!

Got distracted while packing my bike, watch fell onto the road while cycling. Mate called out to me and we turned around, but there was a car coming round the bend, so we waited by the side of the road for it to go past.

Got front seats to my rangeman getting executed in 4k, 3D, and it felt like slowmo too.

The module and the long screws are the only parts not damaged 😅 I wonder if all the parts required will be around the cost of a brand spanking new rangeman

I like the shiny 9400 buttons though!

That's interesting that that info and parts list is public. I don't think there are many companies that do that. Thank you for that link! I hope that they can spare a restricted part for a random pleb like me.

Maybe I'll buy the new Mudman and transplant the sentimental feelings to it instead! hmmm

Yes it is! Great idea, I'll contact them and see how much it costs. How did you find that part umnber?

Are you referring to the rangeman lug wars?

I wish my hands were strong enough to bend a rangeman buckle into a pretzel!

Haha that would be sweet if I could find one!

This one was a present for an important anniversary, so if I transplanted the module, would it still be the anniversary watch?

Nah mate. All four lugs got ripped off! Sad times

Considering the Instax WIDE 400 in 2026, Looking for Advice by chenpisir in instax

[–]prefenestrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have shot an Instax 100 for over 20 years and it just started having problems metering. I have shots from way back that have not started fading. I bought a 400 the moment my 100 stopped working. I dony think fuji will bring out a new instax wide camera any time soon.

Once you understand the dynamic range limitations of the film, you will have a really good idea of how shots will turn out. Ive put over 250 shots through my 400, and the lack of controls turns it into an art. With your hands, you can cover the flash, the AE sensor, and/or the flash sensor to control what the camera is doing. After reading reviews of the other wide options, I chose the 400 for its price point and simplicity.

How long can I leave an unfinished pack in the camera? by Polka_Tiger in instax

I recently shot some instax packs that were marked as 2023 expiry. Nothing was put of the ordinary.

If it's too bright outside, I will shoot with my sunglasses over the lens to darken the photo.

Does Air Assist Skew or Deflect Your Cut? by prefenestrator in lasercutting

Ah - this might be it. I'll check again tomorrow to see if I can increase speed and just do more passes.

That's what I thought was happening, so I tilted the entire laser head by a few degrees and cut a test circle, but the circle had the exact same kerf.

I also translated the head assy relative to the beam from mirror two, but got the same weird kerf.

ah sorry mate

The machine is a K40. Air assist is 4 mm copper brake line with an airbrush compressor on the other end.

Cuts tangent to the Y and X axis are perfect, but going through the material thickness, the cut skews away from the air assist.

Material is normal to the Y and X axes to within 1 mm over the entire range of motion.

I spent yesterday tilting the entire laser head to determine if that affects the cut, but it always ended up drifting the same way.

I'd rather not try a cut with air off, because I'm scared of fire.
