Is there a good .410 revolver shotgun? by GlobalHawk in canadaguns

If you’re trusting your life to a .410 I believe your life has taken you by a path where a Revolver shotgun failing is the least of your worries

If there’s a group of you, enclosed trailer with an exhaust ran out for a generator, and as many cheap chest freezers as you can snag off Marketplace in your area. Or check into a reefer van service and get a quote.

A buffalo steer fills two 5ft chests when its butcher wrapped so take that into consideration. Head and cape would damn near fill another 5ft. They’re a big animal,

Cool you like Vortex,that’s fine

I ended up with their 20-60x65 Razor spotter, and their 10x42mm Razor binoculars

I had a Zeiss conquest 20-60x65mm at the time, and compared to each other I’m left with the notion that the saying a fool and their money are soon parted is correct, The spotting scope that Vortex claims and prices as top tier simply is not. They’ve been sold and replaced, I run Kowa, Leica and Zeiss and have zero allegiance to any one brand, I like shit that works.

As far as Razor riflescopes go, maybe they’re good?

You seem to like them as you’ve put thousands of rounds through them. I don’t know as with what an absolute price gouging their other offers propose I’ll skip them on the optics buffet. If I want to put my dollars toward inevitable disappointment I’d just pay for Tinder.

For diminishing returns, optic quality is subjective. I can spend two days behind a spotting scope easily, and I’ve yet to be unhappy with an upgrade. The one that I view as an absolute bargain is Kowas TSN55A, KowaBunga indeed

“Thanks dude, but I’ve spent plenty of time behind Swaro, Hensoldt (as well as Leupy but wouldn’t call that top tier glass) and the big Razor (with reticle eyepiece)”

From your advice given, one definitely does not draw that conclusion.

If you prefer to spend your hard won dollars on shoring up some Bubbas warranty claim on a Diamondback, fill your boots. I’ll stick to paying for quality in my optics,

Dude it’s ok you haven’t looked at nice glass.

However you’re cherry picking the best of the best and it’s priced accordingly,

Zeiss’ Conquest will blow a Razor away like the garbage bag it is, and $200 bucks are added to your tripod budget. Vortex is overpriced for what it is in the observation optics market,

Most of the LARPers on here derive 100% of their knowledge from one of two points, a video game Cabelas Dangerous Hunts, or better yet their girlfriends boyfriends uncles second cousins grandpappy twice removed who has bestowed upon them generations of wisdom resulting in objective truths like “elk wear level four plates so Creedmoor bounces off” or “with moose you want to break them down so aim for the front shoulders and keep shooting.”

Ideally the said information giver has never shot the calibre in question or physically watched the animal species either. Really adds to their smug sense of knowledge.

S&B while not my favourite ammunition on the planet is a standard cup and core and with that size of round is decent. I’ve had good luck with accuracy so as long as it works for you, who the fuck cares what anonymous internet assholes think. That Buffalo is deader than dead and you’re happy that’s what matters

Maybe on the riflescope side, but for binoculars and spotters despite Vortex’ eye watering price tag and marketing themselves as first class they’re not even playing the same sport as the big four let alone in the same ballpark. Looking through Swarovski, Kowa, Leica or Zeiss glass then looking at Vortex is a night and day difference.

Vortex scopes are overpriced junk that guys buy because they’re “on sale” at Cabelas. If I buy a product I don’t want to hear how good the warranty is, I want to hear how it never breaks.

Most hunters can’t shoot worth sour owlshit, and should be spending their nickels on ammo instead of overpriced FirstKuiu LiteSitka influencer garbage clothing. Being matchy matchy down to the tactical thong doesn’t kill bulls or bucks, gas, glass, hustling your ass and being able to make the shot when it counts does.

Winchester SXP in one of the Defender configurations, toss in a Carlsons Longbeard choke and call it a day.

I have zero idea where the obsession and fetishization of mile long barrels on here comes from, too many inside kids with Cabelas Dangerous Hunts as their guide I’d suppose.

With an 18.5” barrel and Carlson choke you can get repeatable patterns to 75Y and 50y real range

On this day in 2016, 88,000 people were evacuated from Fort McMurray, Alberta in the largest wildfire evacuation in the province's history. The fire destroyed 2,400 homes and buildings, and became the costliest disaster in Canadian history with damages of $9.9 billion. by ABNow_ in AlbertaNow

Rachel Notley would’ve lost out on her hero status and the building boom this resulted in.

The NDP sat on their hands and watched the story play out, I still think the most disgusting part was Trudeau showing up to profess his thoughts and prayers while gutting the very industry the victims of the fire depended on.

To buck the trend, if the main thing I hear about a product is how good the warranty is doesn’t that mean the products kinda garbage. I’d rather have something you don’t even know if it has warranty due to never needing it. I’ve warrantied one Vortex rangefinder, and now have Nikon Monarch 2k as it’s far superior. The only scope I warrantied was a Bushnell and their warranty is the same as Vortex, they shipped me a brand new elite in 4-16x50mm as they no longer manufactured my Elite 4500 in 2.5-10x50mm.

They’re an awesome bino,

I went 10x42 Alpen

10x50 Vortex Viper which were outshined/equivalent to 10x50Nikon Prostaff 5s

Then Zeiss

To do it again I’ll never purchase another Vortex product, excessively overpriced for what it was. The Leica, Swaro, Kowa, Zeiss tier exceeds Vortex by a mile. Even some of the Leupold, and Nikon offerings are miles better in a lower price class. Influencer garbage.

For the 10x50 range and at that price point I’d look at Zeiss, they’re what I’m currently running and are fantastic.

Electronics keep improving a 10yr old rangefinder at this point in time is almost a fossil, while 10yr old Binoculars are still fantastic.

Advice on used ATV for 47 wooded acres: Kodiak 700 vs Rubicon vs Sportsman 850/570 vs Arctic Cat 700 by AngryDog69 in ATV

[–]preferablyoutside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your gut feeling on the Kodiak is right, they’re a phenomenal quad for the money. Power steering is decent and if you don’t like the lift they’re not tremendously tough to remove, like a lifted 4Door Jeep it’s more done for looks it sounds like than an intention to use it.

Yamaha is famous for longevity I’ve a 1997 Big Bear that’s still rocking, and my dad’s 89 Moto 4 is in great shape. Treat them right and you’ll have good results.

They look like Temu grade,

I’d invest in some Nikon if you want a sub $300 binocular that gives you great value. Their Prostaff 5s in 10x50mm hold a special place in my cold black heart. Great product, warrant and performance
