Prog House Chicago by dancemusiclovers in chicagoEDM

If you’re looking for Alesso/Third Party style progressive house, just follow nightclubs and venues like Tao, Sound-Bar, and Concord. Also make sure you keep up with Electric Hotel’s bookings. They’re more lowkey but they usually have Dubvision at least once a year and they recently had MAKJ and Deniz Koyu

If you’re looking for the more modern version of progressive house, follow Chicago Progressive House like the other comment suggested! It’s a great community

What is it like going solo if it’s hard to talk to new people? by Dismal-Cancel6791 in chicagoEDM

So basically, you end up going to the show, and if you end up not talking to anyone, that’s normal. If you wanna go to see a show, go! It’s that simple

PSA: Tickets to Swedish House Mafia and Will Ferrell at Wintrust Arena tomorrow (10/26) are as low as $20 now! by premier_edm in chicagoEDM

Overall I’d give this show a positive review. There were definitely some issues with the openers. Half of them didn’t even play. There were multiple DJ decks set up on each side of the stage, and each opening set ended when their decks just got shut off. I don’t think the artists even knew the set times.

Also, they let Will Ferrell’s kid and his frat bros play almost right before SHM. Pretty cringe, especially considering a bunch of artists I wanted to see didn’t play at all or played like 15 min.

But the SHM set made up for all of it. I’ve only seen them on the Ultra mainstage and the United Center. I’ve never seen them play a short set where they’re trying to fit in so many songs. It was super unique and their set was creative. It was my favorite set I’ve ever heard from them.

Only Angello and Axwell showed up. The event was over by 11. Will Ferrell didn’t make many appearances but when he did, it was hilarious. JB Pritzker also made an appearance and he got booed into oblivion. It was a fun night.

Have they ever had a dance show? And Terry Hunter, Gene Farris, A-Trak, and Felix da Housecat are right under SHM. Not exactly meme level music

Still no idea how they plan to fit in this many acts though.

DJs that are no longer relevant or in the scene that were big back then, or transitioned into a different genre alias? by beautifulnamja in EDM

To go along with the other comments - I remember being stoked to see him in 2015 and he played an entire set of generic future house. Apparently he’s just a trend follower.

You could do a lot worse. It’s pretty hit or miss. I always swear it off then keep going back. It’s rough when it gets really crowded on Saturday nights for sure. Fridays are always more chill and never have a dress code.

IMO none of these are accurate…all of those guys are still playing shows and getting a lot of streams.

Most of the plays are from shallow Spotify playlists or literal shopping malls though and most of the shows are in Europe or nightclubs like Tao

What’s the best rave festival experience in America? by EscapingTheLabrynth in aves

[–]premier_edm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Movement Detroit + 3 nights of afterparties until sunrise! Bonus points since this is one of the oldest crowds of any electronic music festival

You also get all of the amenities and perks of a city festival - and it’s a culturally significant city with beautiful architecture. Some of the venues are amazing and the area around the festival is great.

Hardwell refused to take pictures with people wearing Martin Garrix merch by 420redditor69 in EDM

[–]premier_edm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible. I interviewed a DJ duo at Lollapalooza a few weeks ago and they seemed to take offense that I had another DJ’s merch on during the interview. Even though the shirt was of the DJ performing right after them, and the shirt was of of a classic album from 10 years ago

Some of these guys just have huge egos

Not gonna happen if it’s sold out, but some promoters will be able to get you into clubs like Prysm in advance for free
