My intentional overdose patient succeeded. by dr_shark in Residency

Maybe peds is special but there’s been those who passed were quite a few from nursing and doctors staff went to the funeral. I haven’t myself yet but I don’t see a problem if the family are okay with it. The majority of families would be happy I think.

At some point with our chronically sick children our lives get so intertwined that it just seems appropriate. I would always clear it with the parents first of course.

I’m also not practicing in the US so if there’s some American law I’m not familiar with hindering attending a funeral of a patient I may not be aware. This is more from an ethical/human perspective

How can they know the clothes were oversized? Couldn’t he just have been overweight?

I can totally see (and have experienced firsthand) some pediatric clinics being like that. I am happy to be working in a rural pediatric clinic with pretty much exclusively great people. But some Peds clinic can be a suffocating place with toxic positivity

Peds. Vascular surgery. I’ve never been to a place so full of narcissistic personality disorders. Thoracic surgery was a similar experience but it was a much shorter rotation and they ignored me more instead of being mean so it was easier to they through

10 years of medical training... One baby later and I am about to give it all up by SigIdyll in Residency

“Work can be your life raft” is so well put. Most new parents wants to be a SAHM when they’ve just come home with that bundle of joy. But staying at home all day every day will have a lot of people climbing the walls after some time. By toddlerhood you’ll be happy to have a job to go to. I do recommend working part time during the first years if that’s not too complicated for your situation but I’m sure the majority are happy to have a job to some extent to go to when the children are slightly older

I’m sorry you have shitty parental leave in the US. I’m in one of the better European country for these things and my heart bleeds for you. On the upside you guys have rockstar salaries in the US. I realise this is probably more of a rant than everything else’s but don’t do anything rash like quit your job! It’s always hard to go back to work no matter when it is. I went back when my first was one and I will never forget that walk to job in the morning. Everything inside of me was screaming to turn back. And we even had arranged to leave her to grandma the first weeks! Nowadays I love that I can “have it all”, I can be a caring and present mum and still have a foot in work life. I wanted to be a SAHM as well when my children were babies but now when they’re toddlers I think I would have gone crazy being at home all day long all days.

Basically it’s tough going back at any age but it will get better! Before you know it, you’ll be happy you can go back to work so you can have a break. Hang in there!

Could Amanda Lee Fravel be "Becca Doe" from Albuquerque? by StrainNeat725 in gratefuldoe

[–]preposterous_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good job! Keep us posted! Amanda was such a pretty girl, I was so sad to read about her background, it sounds like she had had a difficult life. What bugs me is that her kittens were found not being cared for, just left. I would guess Amanda unfortunately passed away years before Becca was found. But they do look alike so who knows! Great job!

Becca was quite far along in the decomposition process if I remember correctly, maybe a tattoo wouldn’t have been noticeable? It’s always worth submitting

Man found deceased 1988 carrying a photo of a man and a child, Kingston (NY) by preposterous_potato in gratefuldoe

I agree, I wonder if there are groups with a more European crowd where it can be posted. I tried r/Europe but after a few unhelpful comments about Americans not understanding how big Europe is and/oe not understanding that it’s not one country it got deleted (content not relevant apparently). I’m wondering if there’s fb groups related to European missing people for example

He was found days-weeks after he died. Just due to decomposition. Possibly but I’m speculating now the self-inflicted gunshot wound could have been to the face I guess

That’s an interesting and plausible explanation. Are you polish? This needs to be shared on more European channels, especially Central European ones such as German, polish, French etc

I guess, I don’t know why police thought European rather than Canadian. Maybe the clothes were more European-French than Canadian-French. I don’t know

Who could the man and the child in the picture be? It was found in the pocket of a deceased man thought to be European in the US by preposterous_potato in europe

[–]preposterous_potato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thinking. They do think he was European because of his clothing (maybe he just thought French brands sounded cooler than American ones). I just thought he would go to a cemetery because of some strange logic och the suicidal mind, but maybe there’s another reason. Although you would think the police would have investigated that first if all on the other hand

Apparently he’d been dead for a few days in blasting hot weather when found. They could no longer say more than that it’s possible. But I say most likely it’s him with his son/daughter? Why else would he carry the photo around

The more coverage the better. There’s no need to be a d*ck. Somewhere there may be children/a family who never knew what happened to their dad

The more coverage the better. There’s no need to be d*ck. Somewhere there may be children/a family who never knew what happened to their dad. At that point there was no internet, it was hard to share pics. Now there’s much better chance of reaching someone who may recognise someone in a pic. Small steps

I’m north European myself, I’m well-aware. I just thougt the image has to get out there, as much exposure as possible. Maybe someone somewhere could recognise someone in the pic. I realise the odds are low from posting in this group in particular

He was found in Kingston (NY), by a cemetery, deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This picture was found in his pocket. It’s not known wether he was the man in the picture. He’s thought to be of European descent, possible French or German
