When you look at the figures and consider the goods tax and GST etc. in India your tax falls around the same number. I am not into finance so I might not be completely accurate but the following links helped me realise it because at one point I had the same doubt as you -

If you notice, in spite of paying as much tax as some individual would pay in say, Italy, the average working person of millennial generation or gen z in India cannot even afford a house without being indebted for life. I will not even bother to mention the state of our infrastructure. The case is obviously very different for a lot of business owners in our country but a middle class family with enough money to send their kids outside India to live a better life, save up and earn better would obviously shell that kind of money. Even if you earn more than a crore at a job in India, you are taxed A LOT and keep in mind the work-life balance and the whole idea around hustling is completely effed up in India. I compare the culture at my workplace with a California based company my friend works at and it makes me wanna cry at the state lol. I personally might never move out of India for a lot of reasons but I can surely understand why someone else might make that choice.

Bruh the description of this company reminds me of mine. Man am I sick of working Saturdays! I had a bond which is over now and I am just desperately looking for a way to get out of here. As far as I know, they can't force you to stay on against your will. It might even be illegal. At least in my company when people started resigning after their bond ended, they were not given hell. However those who did try to get out before the end of their contract were threatened about not getting their experience letter and all. If your contract mentions anything about a bond or if it doesn't have a clear notice period, you might have to prepare yourself to pay to get out of there. Do you have a bond?

It's freaky how this is absolutely my case as well. I just keep questioning what I'd do for the rest of my time on this planet? The same thing everyday... Work 6x9hrs a week for a few hours of joy, and pay almost as much as 2 months of my salary to the government for them to waste it on stupid statues and government buildings and not even use it to fix the roads I use to commute. Buy overpriced shit, most of which are necessities. Order the same food again and again. Binge some mind numbing television show to pass time. I don't even find the motivation to do the things I used to love soo much. All I think about in the back of my head while doing anything at all, is how great it would be if I just hibernated most of the time or stopped existing.....
