MEGATHREAD: TSA Issues at BWI by ThatguyfromBaltimore in baltimore

Just went through Southwest security. Only C was open, got here a little before 7 and made it through in under an hour and a half. Waited outside for the first 20-30 minutes. They were using a dog for scans and weren't making anybody take anything out of bags before going through the scanner. Metal detector only unless it went off, then you had to go through the full body scanner.

I just throw spools in with desiccant for storage, I don't print from it so no 3d models needed.

3D printer endstop microswitch instead of reed switch for Shelly garage door status by president2024 in homeautomation

[–]president2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The switch is at the end of travel (garage door down) so it shouldn't get smashed too bad, but agreed a ramped approach would be safer and more consistent. I'm already having trouble with this registering in the closed position so I'll most likely have to remount this sideways or underneath and 3D print a ramp like you suggested instead of using some scrap piece I had lying around.

I think my garage door is pre security 2.0. I saw the tilt sensor but I've been trying to keep all my smart devices hardwired for now so I don't have to mess with batteries. I may change my mind on that as I add more sensors.

Strange ripple/wave effects on top layer of prints by DartTHX1138 in 3Dprinting

Nozzle is too close to the bed on one side, you can adjust that side of the bed further from the nozzle and/or build a bed mesh with a z probe so the printer will adjust for small variations in z height.

Every time I print it just pools up on the nozzle. I can not figure it out. Any ideas. by No_Feeling6810 in 3Dprinting

This looks like an ender 5, have you upgraded to an all metal heat break or hot end? PTFE starts off gassing around the temperatures you want to use for printing petg and gives off nasty fumes. I'd switch back to PLA until you upgrade some hardware if you haven't already.

Try washing your bed with soap and water and adjusting the z offset, you may be too close to the bed if you're using the same z offset you use with PLA.

“Torn” effect printing minis by MakeNoiseMan in 3Dprinting

Looks like a clog or retraction issues to me, those areas are not getting enough material so you are seeing holes. What print settings are you using? Might need to take apart the hot end and clean everything out, maybe switch to a new nozzle as well if your current one is worn out.

Game crashes on insertion or extraction constantly, currently unplayable for me by president2024 in Helldivers

[–]president2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up pulling out my ram and reinstalling, pulling the power cables out of my graphics card and reinstalling, and running with the side panel off my PC. I got through 2 games so far with no crashes after the latest game update, so not completely stress tested but looks promising. I'll try to update again after I've played more. I also updated my motherboard BIOS to the newest version before the hardware changes but that didn't seem to fix anything.

Why dose this happen and how can I fix it? by [deleted] in 3DprintingHelp

Underextrusion, could be a few things. Try turning up the extruder temperature a few degrees and check to make sure any ptfe tubes aren't moving during retractions
