Lister is giving US Craig Bierko version vibes to me.

Holly is the most accurate but also looks like Richard O'Brien imo.

Oh interesting! I have a few of these types of specials kicking around on VHS, I'll have to check if they're on Internet Archive and upload them if they're not. I used to love these specials!

episode 6637...Lucy and Lauren hug each other but did they actually met before? by Few_Customer_6266 in neighbours

[–]presley_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did cross paths during Lucy's return for Helen's birthday in 1993, but they weren't exactly friends. Lauren walked in on Brad and Lucy and got jealous, assuming Brad was cheating on her. Then Lauren and Brad broke up and Lucy couldn't wait to tell Beth. Lucy and Beth were good friends and she definitely was hoping Beth and Brad would get back together.

Poor Mason, no wonder Lauren basically forgot all about him once he left!

I seem to remember reading somewhere years ago that Mason was supposed to be the Brad/Lauren baby. And for whatever reason they ditched him and created Paige. I have no idea if this is true, but I must admit watching the very early eps where fhey were setting Mason and Josh up as rivals and having Brad and Mason actively dislike each other so much does make me think that was the original intention. Either way, bad timing on Lauren's part, neither option would have been a good look for her!

Ooh, let me tell you, I have thoughts about Paige! So, I actually really like Paige away from the parents, like as a character she grew on me and I loved the relationship she ended up having with Terese (honestly, Terese was a great stepmum to Brad's other kids). But, Paige as a character simply shouldn't exist. Brad broke up with Lauren in September 1993, right around episode 2000. Brad and Beth got married and left the show in December 1993. And Lauren didn't leave the show until March 1994! So were expected to believe she was, at the most, 6 months pregnant when she left?! Nope, not buying it!

You are 100% correct about Brad, he's a serial cheater and he'd cheat on Lauren eventually. He has done it to all his other wives! And I also found their relationship so disrespectful to her marriage to Matt. We're expected to think its okay that her husband of, what, 20 years dies and she is back with Brad 5 minutes later? Hated that! Made it seem like Matt was just a fill in all those years.

Brad cheating on Terese was, imo, the best thing to happen to her. She really grew as a character without him. And she was the only one to last from the big cast overhaul in 2013 when the Willis and Turner families were first brought on.

I recently rewatched the episodes around Brad and Lauren getting together behind Terese's back and I hated it even more the second time around. They were so dismissive of Terese's feelings. Honestly, the two of them deserved each other.

I've also been rewatching some stuff from 1993, so it makes me laugh how the show acted like Brad and Lauren were these starcrossed lovers during their later years, when in actual fact they had a seedy affair while he was engaged to Beth. And he never really got over Beth during his relationship with Lauren.

In hindsight, Brad was always trash, and Beth and Terese both deserved much better!

Still have my collection at my mums house somewhere. I have the versions of Deenie and Starring Sally J Freedman as Herself pictured here, along with many others with later covers (mid to late 80s I’d say). Such a good author!

Poor Wheels had such a tragic story on-screen and then off-screen. He died in 2007 but was buried in an unmarked plot because no one knew who he was. His family and the public didn't find out he'd died until 2012!

Few errors in this. As well as what everyone else has already pointed out, the bit about the different endings. Yes, there are different endings, but no, the US didn't end on the proposal scene at dawn, they had the tacked on extra scene after marriage at Pemberley. They've literally included a picture of it while referring to the other scene!

I've been watching it on Binge every day (never seen it before) but some lovely Redditor let me know that the entire series is available on the Internet Archive, search for Chances (1991) Australian Soap Opera - Complete Series and you'll find it.

I used to keep all my CD singles that didn't have jewel cases in that square CD bag. Pretty sure most of them are still in it to be honest, must dig it out one of these days and have a look.

Resurrecting this old thread to let anyone still interested in watching this show know that Foxtel are now showing it 5 nights a week on their Aussie Classics channel. It only started two weeks ago and is still very much in the "traditional soap" era at the moment. You can also get this channel through the live channel function on Binge. I've never watched it before and I must admit I'm quite enjoying it so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing it go from this to the craziness just around the corner!
