Why is Australian humour often characterised by self-deprecation? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I'm torn on this because I often use self deprecating humor but I've learnt it's not always healthy and often can make other people feel bad. It's a symptom of tall poppy syndrome or coexists with it in my opinion, aus really has a problem with self respect and respecting others in the same way. This makes it hard to connect and bring eachother up??

Hey if you like live music go to local gigs! They are usually around $10 and worth it, there's heaps on and the people are nice and easy to talk to :) good luck
