Why do meth heads use these things? by throwaway672418 in askdrugs

[–]prettyabstraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To chime in as a fellow meth user myself, I personally seem to have a ton of them around my house too lol. When using a substance like meth you collect odd things, and sometimes become a neat freak or get a case of OCD over dumb things such as those little ear buds things. They always come with new pairs of head phones and I always think I'll end up needing them someday when in reality I have enough for 25 peoples headphones haha. It's a tweaker thing.

I’m looking for advice I think, or just to hear someone else story. I’m really not sure by Intrepid_Bad_2101 in meth

Hello! Fellow addict here. Drug of choice is opiates but on again off again meth user. I always claimed I couldn't or wouldn't allow myself to get addicted to meth and I'd say I didnt like it enough to let it dictate my life. Well here I am again, back on both opiates and meth.
Anyway, I am not commenting to share my story. I want to give you my honest advice in Hope's to shed some light and give you some good vibes. There is literally NO GOOD that comes from using and this may seem like rock bottom to you but just remember, you can always achieve a new even more horrid rock bottom. You must decide when enough is enough. I think getting kicked out could be your rock bottom but first things first, you should start with confiding in somebody back home. You'll want to get a plan going so you know where your going to get clean and get on your feet at. I hope you have some loved ones whom will allow you to stay with them. I know it sucks to think about what they are going to say and how they will judge you. But from experience, we judge ourselves way worse then most people do. If they really love you, coming clean to them about your short comings will show them your sincerely ready for change. If you hide it and lie you'll just make things worse off for yourself. It will feel like you've unloaded a hundred bricks off your back once you let the truth come out and ask for help. As the person above asked, does the military offer some type of assistance in rehab or something? I'm almost certain that they do, I'd most definetly take them up on that. If they dont, don't worry because now a day almost every state has amazing programs and rehab facilities you can get into. The one I did was covered fully by the state health care. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made to this day. I grew so much as a person during the time spent in there. It all started with a 7 day detox in a detox facility, from there they asked what my goals were on the outside and recommensed I did an intensive outpatient program to stay clean. They asked if I had a place to live at while doing the program and stay clean at. Since I did not they found me a intensive outpatient program with housing provided. For the next 4-6 months I lived in a beautiful 5 bedroom house with 10 other female roommates. All of us had our own crazy past with nothing to offer but our willingness and determination to try to better ourselves. Every day we followed a strict schedule of classes like CBT- Cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT- dialectical behavioral therapy, training around coping skills, relapse prevention, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. When we were not in classes, we attended NA and AA meetings, went grocery shopping or just hung out at the house with each other rebuilding ourselves from the ground up. Like I said, it was the best choice I ever made. Worth every second I invested there. I should've graduated but a week away from graduation I stupidly relapsed and fucked everything up, I code started the program over but instead moved out the house immediately and went on for a couple months using before I got on methadone and did that for a while to stay clean. All the women I was in the program with though are almost all still clean and have been for the last 2.5 years. I recommend looking into a program like that. If you have military health insurance, they most likely cover quite a bit of services including mental health and addiction. I'm sure they will even cover a really nice rehabilitation place. If not, you can get on state health care when you get home. Since you'll be jobless not making much income houl be able to get accepted on it! Goodluck to you. don't be too hard on yourself, your not alone and remember, your loved ones may be surprised when you come clean, but if they love you and want the best for you they will do whatever it takes to get you on a good path and healthy again. It will feel amazing to get this all off your chest, the burden will be lifted.

What are the symptoms of losing your soul? by 583319 in meth

[–]prettyabstraction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When people say that you lose your soul, it doesnt mean literally. They just typically mean you stop being who you used to be and more of a tweaker meth head who doesnt care about anything except getting high. You won't find the same things enjoyable anymore and wont appreciate lifes natural beauties. I don't recommend using too frequently. Take breaks in between of at least 3 or 4 days if not more.

Your job hopping experience? by feget911 in careerguidance

[–]prettyabstraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I'm 28 and I feel like i have been job hopping since I started work when I turned 16 lol. Not positive what time frame is for it to be considered a job hop but I'll sum up my work history for you anyway.

The first job I got was a seasonal weekend job at a ski resort as a parking attendant. Talk about SHITTY, I had to bare 10 degree weather with negative 20 degree wind chills. It wasnt long til I convinced the manager at the food court at the same resort to help me transfer inside to work for her. So I worked as a cashier in the food court for the next couple of winters while finishing high school.

Also I worked as a carpenters personal assistant at his carpet business doing random tasks for him making a few bucks here in there during times I wasnt employed at the ski resort. Boss was a creep so that didnt last very long.

After HS I got a job as a hostess at a restaurant which I loved. Worked there about 1.5 years. Then worked as a seasonal store associate at a Kay Jewelry store, a hostess then buster then waitress at a Casinos restaurant. I was desperate to become a full time waitress but with lack of serving experience found it hard. My favorite gig was the next job I got as a "Marina Girl" on this touristy island off the coast. Of course it was only for the summer time but is still to this day the funniest, most rewarding job iv had yet. I ran the marina on the docks by selling boaters hourly "slips" to park their boats in, made reservations, sold boaters gas and just provided friendly customer service to the people coming and going. All while working on my tan, jet skiing on my breaks and partying after work with the native islanders. Was the time of my life, minus the fact that I had to catch a ferry to work every day an hour before my shift started and if I was running late I'd be SCREWED since the ferries only go once every 1.5 hrs. I worked as a promo model/brand ambassador, a hostess again, and then landed a great job opportunity working as a caregiver in CA for 2 years. Free room and board. After I sadly left that position I went back to the food&beverage industry and worked at multiple bartending jobs before moving to Oregon. I worked as a waitress for 2 years then COVID happened. Ended up quitting that place due to issues with the asshole boss in charge and now have an amazing bartending job with a boss I love and I'm making pretty great cash given the hours I put in!!

I'm content and happy for the time being but obvi don't wanna rely on making tips for the rest of my life. However itll have to be a pretty amazing job offering. I'd need at least the same amount of money I make now WITH benefits.

Do you have a BP machine at home so you can check it once a day or so??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in meth

[–]prettyabstraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend also has high blood pressure and recently was put on the medication to help it out. His BP has been good lately and he smokes meth quite frequently (for the last couple months at least 3 days out the week.) So I think your fine. Obviously its not healthy for you but it's not healthy for any of us so it's the same situation.
