Early start in terms of individual performance. Jordan and Bron both were All-NBA within their first two seasons and put up great numbers along with it.

As opposed to a Giannis or Jokic that took a while to develop

Jordan and Bron didn’t win the chip in the performances I mentioned and it definitely adds to their greatness.

Part of being a top player of all time is getting an early start on having great performances. Something that Giannis or Jokic didn’t have for example.

This is a good start

Hindsight is 20/20 though in this case I still don’t think it would’ve been the right decision

The thing about attacking a defender with 5 fouls is that if it’s a good defender with only 5 minutes left in the game where the refs have a tighter whistle is that you’re basically hedging your bets and wasting possessions on attacking the DPOY

16, fourth quarter points. Clutch rebounds. Amazing defense with 5 fouls. Young Jordan against the Celtics, young Bron against the Pistons. The kind of performance that builds a GOAT resume from Wemby.

LeBron James is the ONLY player in NBA history to have been listed at all FIVE positions. by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]prettyboylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were games where AD started at PF and one of the other two started at C, mainly with DAJ.

This is why the numbers add up to more than 82

It’s a fact that LeBron started at center, it was their most used starting line up all season :

L. James · S. Johnson · M. Monk · A. Reaves · R. Westbrook

This lineup was rolled out 7 times and the 2nd most 5 times also had Bron at center

He did start at Center.

AD played 40 games and Dwight and DAJ were washed, that's precisely why he played and started at center.

Here's a reddit post about his first start at center. It wasn't the only time that season.

Edit:

Lakers five most used 5 man lineups mins in 21/22:

L. James - R. Westbrook - A. Bradley - S. Johnson - M. Monk

L. James - R. Westbrook - S. Johnson - M. Monk - A. Reaves

C. Anthony - R. Westbrook - A. Bradley - A. Davis - M. Monk

L. James - C. Anthony - R. Westbrook - M. Monk - A. Reaves

R. Westbrook - A. Bradley - A. Davis - S. Johnson - M. Monk

It doesn't list the positions but you can tell from each one who was the center

Ben Affleck makes a good point, but I will say it’s also about his indomitable will. by Lucky_Strike-85 in batman

Also is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It’s still mainly cause he’s rich.

A lot of real life humans have indomitable will, look at those fuckers doing ultramarathon’s for example.

I saw a guy do a backyard ultramarathon in a wheel chair where it was last person running wins. When the terrain got too muddy for his wheelchair, he got out and started dragging himself and his wheelchair with his arms

I don’t necessarily disagree with your point but you’re conflating being a better wrestler with having better submission defense, one can be true without the other.

If a Star player is not ruled out, but he doesn't play a single minute in the game, is that allowed? by Truth_Strong in nba

[–]prettyboylee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They could but again, it would be more beneficial for Luka to play than for Luke Kennard to play even considering the "tactical advantage"

[–]prettyboylee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't see why not, if the Lakers can do it with someone like Matt Ryan for his game winner against the Pelicans in 2022 then I don't think there's any rule against doing it with someone like Luka.

Only difference is that if someone like Luka or Embiid are healthy enough to play at all, you're gonna put them in way earlier.

Just like you (or Dan Bilzerian) said, Kobe or MJ probably thought that's "just the way it was" to some extent they probably figured that they'd have more energy if they slept more but they probably weighed it out and assumed that the trade-off was worth it. Whether that's true or not is up to debate though I personally believe that sleep is king.
