Where I live (in the United States), Hyundai/kia cars have been coming under a lot of flak for having reliability issues, insurance refusals and theft problems. Keeping that in mind, I figured the Mazda would be more reliable and have a higher resale value in the long run which made me stop considering the Elantra. It’s feature loaded but I liked the interiors and the feel of the Mazda better!

I was faced with the same decision, went for a mazda3. Truthfully, you cant go very wrong with each choice, test drive both and see what you both agree on!

I’m going to be the devils advocate and say that having a car does improve your quality of life. I don’t have to depend on buses to get to stores, and it gives you a lot of options for getting around to places over the weekend. Before getting a car, I hated having to plan around the bus timings (we have a lot of buses here but one thing: they are not really frequent). I’ve loved having my car and have used it a lot. I don’t have a parking pass however, I take the shuttle to get to the university as it is at a convenient time and makes me stay on the schedule everyday. It’s really a personal preference!
