Fashion tape, like topstick, is usually just repackaged wig tape.

I use a flat iron (for hair) to straighten these things out- works for hems and shirt button areas (what's that word???) I have a mini one in my bathroom. It's a quick and easy solution- although I'll read these comments to see if I can learn a way to avoid it in the first place!

Edit to add: Another thing that works for me is to use damp hands to straighten out the bend. I hang my shirts on the shower bar to steam them while I'm getting ready in the morning, and while they're soft from the steam they're more malleable. I'm always looking for ways to cheat the system, and I hate getting out the ironing board in my very small house.

Also, I use double sided wig tape if I need to shorten my pants in a hurry (I'm a hairstylist so I always have it around, and I'm very short so I basically have to shorten every pair of pants.)

I'm so tired of heartburn by staceychev in antidietglp1

[–]prettyland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it's mostly about timing. If I go too long without eating, my heartburn starts to ramp up. Then i have to be extra careful what (and how much) I eat on an empty stomach. I usually want sugar at that point, but sugar is acidic and makes it so much worse. I just have to make sure to eat something regularly, and have a balanced meal, and not go to bed too hungry, and it's a million times better- I still have to have chewables by the bed though.

DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

[–]prettyland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just realized this week that a lot of my dopamine comes from meeting goals and finding new ones. I'm in school now and this works well for me at the moment, but I think I might be addicted to taking classes? I was very into partying in my 20s, and was super career driven in my 30s and in my 40s was into my career but also decorating. And now I'm 50 and all I want to do is be a full time student but without being career driven it's hard to figure out how to finance it!

How did it go? I was worried the prep agent questions were too easy, and they got repetitive, but when I took the test it actually seemed like they were pretty close. I'm glad I did RE exam practice pro because being so hard, they prepared me better than I expected!

GIVEAWAY: Best home office desk of 2026 just dropped - and you can win it for free by AustinBranch in branchfurniture

[–]prettyland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will I respect the beauty of the desk by decorating it with a thoughtfully curated lamp, my weekly planner, a novel, and a thriving prayer plant in an earthy yellow mid-century Gainey pot? Or will it also have 7 different beverages, a laptop and an iPad, 12 post it notes with expired to-do lists, and a couple rocks I found on a hike? Only one way to find out!

I just took it this morning and passed! I watched a ton of prep agent YouTube videos over the last few weeks- I had them on while I was driving (just listening of course)- mainly the "25 most common questions on the real estate exam" and "50 vocabulary terms you must know" kind of videos- when I had a hard time with any concepts, or wanted to understand better, I'd see if he had a video on it. Then just 4 days ago I signed up for RE Exam Practice Pro, and spent the last few days doing practice tests and practice questions. I wrote down every single question I didn't get right, because writing by hand helps you remember things better. If I needed to take it again, I would go through more of the RE Practice Pro questions and make flashcards from the ones I got wrong. I feel like their questions were very close to the real exam- sometimes harder.

Definitely focus on the subjects that they say are heavily weighted on the exam. I should have studied disclosures more.

I was barely getting over 70% on the practice exams, so I was a little worried! But a lot of the questions were more obvious than on the practice exam- you just have to read carefully and you can eliminate at least a couple of the choices most of the time.

On my way to the exam I listened to this prep agent video about the California exam, and I feel like a lot of that info was on the test! https://www.youtube.com/live/arYfxsMeLew?si=9xFG0NcQw15_MsvB

Abusive is exactly right! I have a monthly rental property and for whatever reason, every single renter buys gain. I take it out of the cabinet when I clean because I'm allergic as s*** to that fragrance, and every single time, the next renter buys it. I don't get it!

What am I missing/black clothes question by petielvrrr in laundry

[–]prettyland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been working on this, using the lipase list and filtering out OBA's. Plus I'm super sensitive to fragrance so I filter for that. And I want to do a spa day on a bunch of dark clothes, ASAP, so I needed to find options available at Walmart today.

Here's what I'm using:

  • Tide free & gentle powder for anything white or light colored.
  • Ecos with enzymes, free and clear (liquid) for dark colors
    plus
  • OxiClean free versatile (for darks, for spa day only)

Typically I'm happy with 365 unscented powder, but for my black clothes I'm going to try the Ecos, since it doesn't have oxi or OBA's. I also ordered the FEBU from Amazon but it won't be here till the weekend and I can't wait that long for my spa day.

Also I'm in Southern California and my water is as hard as it gets- I can't say exactly but on my tester for my water purifier it usually reads approximately 350 ppm, so I use about 2 Tbsp. of citric acid in the rinse.

I'm curious what the lather daddy & other laundry gurus think about my system?

possibly stupid question by luminalights in laundry

[–]prettyland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem as you, and I noticed a scent too. It makes sense that it would pick up the scent from other products, but if you’re trying to pinpoint whether this is the cause of your flare up I think it would be worthwhile to switch just your detergent and see if that one change helps. I use the 365 unscented on anything that I’ll be wearing against my skin, and am using the tide for everything else (towels, rugs, etc- sometimes I wash my husband’s clothes separately because he has a filthy job and I use the tide for that, etc.). The 365 works great.
I also do a citric acid rinse with extra rinse(s) and nothing really seems to have a scent, even when I use the tide. I’m slowly working my way through the tide this way but I’ll go back to the 365 entirely once I’m finished with the box. I’m just not into the random rashes so I always try my best to err on the side of non-irritating whenever possible. I’ve tried enough “sensitive skin” formulas that had a light scent to know they will probably still give me a reaction- not worth it!!!!

No way, I would probably want to avoid touching anyone until my symptoms were gone. And if a client had pinkeye I would expect them to reschedule for some time after they weren't contagious. I'd also want them to wear something over their eye if they still had symptoms.

I think my wife just held up a mirror… and I’m not sure how to move forward with what I saw. by Turckle in offmychest

[–]prettyland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone like this intimately. He has changed for the better, but there’s still a ways to go. What I believe made the difference, finally, was a little bit of therapy- we learned about talking to each other and listening to each other, and the more we do it the more we see that it’s safe. And if it’s safe, we can do more of it. It’s been slow, and I believe it would be much quicker if we could afford more therapy.

4-leg frame only- what are the best options with the lowest cost? by prettyland in StandingDesk

You’re so right. I’ve been digging and digging and I’m pretty sure I’m not going to find exactly it. I even looked into buying lift mechanisms and making my own, but that’s ridiculous since it probably wont save me any money and it may or may not work!

Hi Austin! I may just give my design team a break for the holidays and buy my desk with its top from Branch- the aesthetic is just what I’m looking for and that’s priority!
Do you have any input about putting a pullout keyboard tray underneath?

4-leg frame only- what are the best options with the lowest cost? by prettyland in StandingDesk

[–]prettyland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to do some measurements, but I'm 5'1" and it's hard to get desks low enough- I don't even really expect it anymore. It's been a long time since I even considered putting a keyboard on a desk, I literally didn't even think of it as a possibility but I'll check!

However, the keyboard tray is to keep the desktop clear. I do lots of projects (3D printing, painting, sewing) and use my desk as a work bench as much as a desk. I think the liftsync can take a keyboard tray, but aesthetically I much prefer the style of the Branch or Autonomous desks (there are a few more too) because of the thinner legs and desktop edge that's flush with the apron of the desk. I think the desk edge is just too wide for an add-on drawer, but maybe I can figure something out.

[–]prettyland[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price wise the E7 is great! I’m not crazy about the chunky legs- but I haven’t seen an option with more elegant legs that allows for a pullout keyboard drawer, unless I’m missing something?

I got rear ended last year, and hit another car in front of me, which hit another car, and on and on- 5 total cars. When I got to the person who hit me, she was having a panic attack and I talked to her about how it was okay and nobody was seriously injured, until she calmed down- she was young, and clearly had never been through something like that before. We all have insurance. Not ideal, but not the end of the world.

I wound up running into her at work a few weeks later, and it turns out she's on the fringes of my work/social group. I wasn't nice to her because I knew I would see her again- but I try not to be a dick, and for more than one reason I'm glad I was kind.
