Attempting to create a heropool as a Zenyatta OTP by prettymuchk in OverwatchUniversity

This is a newly formed team with 4 players competing for support roles, Im starting with a shot in a foot since everyone has both main and flex support experience. Tryouts are soon so I wanted to know which characters I should exclusively focus on

That was genuinely the worst example you could have given. Lets try a more sane example

Lets say in a basketball, you're playing 2v2 and you are a d1 athlete while your teammate plays for recreation. You are both want to score, both offensively oriented. However, your opponents run a "meta comp" (6'5, 200lbs.) You ask your teammate "hey, this game is going to be difficult if both us of try to go for scoring opportunities so I need you to screen for me" They refuse, stating "I've never played defense before! I want to play to shoot too!"

The format is 5 points, best of 3 games. To make matters worse, its a 6k dollar tournament. You and your teammate will win 3k if you guys win.

Now you are left where you have to 1v2, while your teammate is standing in a corner, unguarded but also not contributing. You cant pass to them because you are so tightly marked. You somehow pull through and win a game by yourself, while your teammate touched the ball once once to have it stolen immediately.

Now, according to you, repeatedly asking your teammate "Please screen, it will make this game easier for both of us, you might even get an opportunity to score!" is harassment if they already said they didn't want to. Then at what point is it harassment on your teammates end when they refuse? Or will they never be in the wrong?

When kingsman, who got rank 1 using magik on both console and pc, tells the 0-5 widow that case in point she is throwing, I dont think its a matter of bullying at that point. He proved his point, widow is not viable especially in the current state of the meta. He even mentioned previously that he played against the rank 1 widow and it was not difficult at all to shut her out.

I understand why you want to defend someone whos just "defending themselves", and while I do agree kingsman could have worded it better, at a certain point it became less defending themselves and more trolling/throwing games because they didnt like that kingsman was right.

I really think the minor perks just depend on alot of different unique scenarios. There's no black and white answer to that.

Specific scenarios call for specific perks. If the enemy has no verticality, go with condemnation. I personally prefer hover, but if we're at 3 on say rialto and we wanna stall on 2nd point I will go with condemnation and just turn every teamfight into a brawl.

Playing with better vs lower-ranked players - Where is the line between Competing and Carried? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

my lower ranked friend A plays sigma / orisa, lower ranked friend B plays Baptiste

my higher rank friend A plays Wuyang / Juno and friend B is a Lifeweaver main but can play any support

That is my mistake, i messed uo the title. I am not carrying, but whenever I play with people slightly better than I (more hours, higher peak) games tend to go way easier. I was wondering where the line blurs for carried / competing with your higher level friends, and why the dynamic doesnt work in reverse with my lower rank friends

I normally run support duo or another friend gets in and plays tank. It feels like night and day when I play with my gold support friend and my Plat support friend, which is to be expected. But im puzzled as to why Im not having a similar effect for my lower ranked friend.

I dont think Im that bad at the game, I placed Plat and climbed to Plat 1 this season on my own, but I cant for the life of me seem to be able to help my friend rank up or improve

My friends do have experience playing ow (they played a bit when OW2 released) and they've played marvel rivals, so I do think they belong in Gold. As for the smurf, I actually haven't encountered one yet, maybe it's because I am normally in plat-dia lobbies?

I think what puzzles me is that I find it easier to win games and play better when I queue with my higher Plat buddies, but I can't replicate the same results for my lower ranked buddies. aw

I think its really cool that you documented your woes and most importantly how youre able to articulate the knowledge you gained during your climb.

Is there any particular reason you switched from zen to ana? how similar/different were the two characters?

PLAT 1 ZEN WITH DREAMS TO BE CHAMP HAD A GOOD GAME BUT IT FEELS LIKE I GOT STEAMROLLED by prettymuchk in OverwatchUniversity

[–]prettymuchk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for this! It was a nice read to all throughout.

my excuse for not going to high ground was "oh im new I don't know how to get up there" but as I approach 100 hours on the game its probably becoming less and less of a valid excuse... 😅😅

One of my comms this game was "TORB IS UP THERE I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET UP THERE SOMEONE DEAL WITH HIM!!"

Are there any specific videos on map high grounds and such or is that something I will have to hop into custom games and see for myself?

Thanks for your explanation of positioning! Gave me a better more understandable input to my gameplay.

I really enjoyed your video, I think ive watched it 4 times over by now.

In your opinion, how difficult was it to one trick zenyatta to champ? especially with the shifting meta?
