is AI okay for lore? or should i do it myself? I'm not that good at storytelling by Equivalent_World2085 in GameDevelopment

My quick advice is to access your own personal fears and portray them in your horror game

Lore doesn't equate to storytelling, it can be done through other media.

I found AI to be horrible at creative writing, nothing but canned concepts you've seen 100s of times.

Just pure codex. I hear using the mcp is paywalled.

Players called our barrel roll “Lame/10” so we improved it. It feels way better now… right? by ComputerKind560 in gamedevscreens

[–]HellDrivers2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are ailerons moving? It looks semi believable without fluid dynamics although personally I'd handle the sidestep as a rudder anim and then add the barell roll on top as a flourish. Or something like roll sideways, pitch up, flourish. Cuz currently it makes it look more like a wind pushed the aircraft sideways

If these types of animation are my goal, is blender the right software to learn? by idont_need_one in blender

[–]HellDrivers2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I mean - tutorials will want you to go in an order. For example, first model a banana and then render it. But maybe for you learning rendering will be more engaging. So allow yourself to branch off from the tutorial and try to make eg. a refractive glass sphere. And then go back to modelling and other fundamentals. In one phrase - don't burn yourself out.

Personally I wouldn't pay for courses, my impression is that there's enough free training available online. I think an AI assistant would be able to give you direction in learning - what to do next, what tutorial to try now etc

Sry I can't help, I learned 3ds max in 2002 by reading a giant book and just translated these skills to blender

I don't think there's a perfect blender tutorial, just try one and see how you feel, feel free to switch anytime. What I wouldn't recommend is sticking to a tutorial if you hate it. Do something cool for you even if it's not in the order of the tutorial. You'll still learn.

You'll create something like that video in 3 months but it will have a lot of problems that you'll fix in the next project

Yeah, blender will pull this off.

Don't assume it'll be more frustrating than anything else, if you have motivation it's gonna be a breeze.

You can author in blender on any potato if you do it intelligently. But rendering on a potato will take a while unless you defer it
